  3. well if you can bring a picture of your dog and you can tell me all about her if you start to feel overwhelmed. Since we will be there about the same time we can be surgery buddies
  4. Chris I am so sorry. I can't even imagine the heartbreak. My own dog has been my source of comfort and strength and to lose her would devastate me. I hope you can pull through this and do this for him.

  9. The More the Merrier!!! Welcome! My Bypass is scheduled for Monday and I totally feel the same way Excited and scared at the same time! I only have to do a 3 day liquid diet and started that today. I'm feeling hungry but motivated! My mother and sister are taking me to the beach tomorrow and I'm thankful for there distraction but not looking forward to a liquid diet on vacation LOL
  10. 5 days to surgery. start the all liquid diet on Friday. I'm getting so nervous now!!
  11. Well my surgery is scheduled for 6/2/14 and I'm starting to really freak out. I gained a little weight since my last weigh in because I had a bit of a breakdown and starting eating all my favorite comfort foods. I have to weigh in again on the 27th of this month and I'm scared because my surgeon will cancel the surgery if she feels you have gained too much weight. I started the liquid diet early in the hopes to shed the pounds by the weigh in but I can't help but panic. I've been working so hard for so long for this surgery that I don't think I could bear to lose it now over one meltdown. I am starting to be anxious everyday and my normal coping mechanism for that is to eat so ARGH! I don't know if I'll get through this.
  12. So I'm currently 3 weeks away from surgery and I'm struggling with constantly wanting to eat. My therapist asked me what I plan to do once that time is no longer hijacked by food. So I guess my question is, has anyone picked up a new hobby or activities that can take your mind off food?
  13. Just a heads up there is a forum on here where you can buy trade and sell different size clothes. So That Helps Tremendously When Our wardrobes start changing drastically

  15. Well I'm glad I'm not alone! I was doing really well up until now so it's time to get back on track... no way am I risking this surgery! Hooray on your loss I'm so happy for you! Nothing wrong with setting small goals just for yourself it helps train the brain and keeps us going.
  16. @@stacy97006 I'm in Portland, who is doing your surgery? mine is Dr Emma Patterson. so nice to see someone so close!!
  17. Hi! Just found out my surgery date (June 2nd!!) I was originally supposed to have surgery in may but my insurance company put me through hell trying to decide if they would pay for it. it's been such a roller coaster ride getting here but now I'm so excited. I found out on the 27th what my pre-op diet will be and I think it will seem more real then. Right now it seems so far away but 3.5 weeks isn't a whole lot of time. My biggest challenge right now is not gaining back all the weight I had to lose before surgery because I feel like I need to eat this or that one last time. Anyone else having that problem?
  18. Hi I just found out that my surgery got approved after the insurance company originally denied it. I have been waiting a long time (or at least it seems that way) on this roller coaster. I found out today my final weigh in will be may 2nd and I will get my official surgery date then but it looks like May will be my month!
  19. So I got horrible news today, my insurance will cover the surgeon and surgery but not the hospital stay. I called the hospital and they said they will not make payment arrangements because the surgery is elective. I had to stretch my budget to be able to pay my portion of the surgeons fee and don't think I can pay the hospital upfront. Does anyone know how much the hospital stay runs? the lady on the phone would not tell me. I'm so depressed, I've worked so hard to get this surgery, made all the lifestyle changes and did everything I was told, and now I might lose the surgery!
  20. I have been on a modified liquid diet for 9 days now ( I get one healthy choice frozen meal a day) and have already lost 13 lbs! It is really hard and I struggled very much the first week but now it seems to be getting easier. Although I still want to cry every time I see a Carl's Jr commercial! LOL
  21. My Doctor recommended that I only eat the Healthy Choice frozen meals (I'm on 4 shakes a day and one frozen meal) especially the steamers since they are all like 260 calories. I am struggling with this diet and I get a meal so I can't imagine how hard it must be to go all liquid!
  22. Thank you to all of you! I currently see a psychologist twice a month and he assures me that my symptoms will improve greatly once I start to lose weight. I am hoping he is right because I feel like a monster now and would love to go outside and not be starred at or laughed at. I'm already on a liquid diet (Protein shakes) and after 10 days I'm just now starting to tolerate it without being super negative and depressed. I have hope for the future for the first time in my life and that scares me a little because it would be devastating to have something go wrong and lose that feeling. I have lost 18 lbs since I started this journey and that is motivating me but I still cry when I see a Carl's Jr. commercial. Here's to leaving it up to fate and not freaking out too much!
  23. My final requirement was to lose 30 lbs before I could have surgery, I'm on a liquid diet so by April 9th I should be ready to go! They say they already started the final approval process so I'm hoping my surgery will be in April too. I have mixed emotions right now, I'm excited and so ready to start getting my life back but I also feel like something is going to go wrong and all this work will have been for nothing. everything seems so surreal the closer I get the less confident I am that this will get approved.
  24. Does anyone know if the hospital makes you pay up front or will they be able to bill you? I have the money to pay my portion of the surgery but I'm worried the hospital is going to ask for a bunch of money up front and I don't have it.
  25. Anyone know how long the actual insurance approval takes? I have to lose 30 pounds before surgery which will be around April 9th. Do you think it's possible to have the surgery in April too?
