  1. Yesterday I finally got my approval for the sleeve. I'm 28 years old. I'm deciding to do this because I want to be there for my daughter and I just can't bare the thought of entering my 30's as I've lived my 20's. Time to enjoy life! Find me on IG youre_notready Ps. Anyone in South Florida?
  2. Today I officially got my insurance approval! My tentative surgery date is Aug 25. I'm 28 years old and weigh about 240 currently. I have sleep apnea and high cholesterol. I'm really excited and terrified all at once. I'm excited to finally get a grip on my weight. I've tried several times on my own. I am able to lose weight but just can not keep it off ( and it beings friends ) I'm hoping this will help. I'm so scared from basic nervousness about surgery. I have a beautiful 4 year old daughter who is autistic. She is my main motivation. Right now I have a hard time being active with her. She deserves the best from me. This is benefit is so much. Here's to a new me
  3. Did you end up having the VSG at Cleveland? How did it go? Who was your dr.? I'm pre on with Lo Menzo
  4. Has anyone has their surgery at Cleveland clinic Florida? I'd love to hear from you
  5. get a nice spray tan. It will help the marks look less visible
  6. I actually had some good news. I called my surgeons office and the nurse said if I reach the 40 BMI they can use that for the packet to send to insurance. I was at 38.96 at consult. A 4 lb gain puts me at 40. I'm glad. I was thinking I would have to gain the 4lbs and start at another office. Sucks you gotta gain to make a point and a half difference on a BMI to qualify. Insurance games : /
  7. I'm one of those healthy fat people. Awesome blood pressure, cholesterol, sugar so I have to make sure I'm at least 40. That's why it's horrible, but I'm trying to gain a little extra just encase. . This is me!! My BMI right now is 39. I've been eating to much to gain about 5 lbs to ensure my 49 BMI. I'm actually getting disgusted lol and everyday I weigh my self I'm not gaining a single pound!!! Two weeks of eating real crap and nothing. Lol such a conspiracy!! When I want to lose I gain, when I actually want to gain to stay even. What the heck lol. 40 not 49!

  9. . I have high liver enzymes. Do you know if that counts towards a co morbidity ?
  10. I am having the same issue. My mother isn't very supportive either. She thinks I should try harder on my own. But she is scared and in understand that. In the end I'm almost 30 years old and no longer need to live my life to please my mother. I feel this is right for me and so I'm doing it. I'm in the very early stages. I'd be happy to be a support to you! I've never been thin so I know how it feels. I'm completely over it myself
  11. I'm just starting out on my journey. I'm 28 and have decided I can not spend my 30's like I have my 20's. Valuable youth was wasted on staying in while all my "skinny" friends went shopping and for fun nights out. But more than that I have a 3 year old daughter who is autistic and she is my world. I want to be able to run, jump, and play with her. So here I am. I'm on this and other sites non stop gathering info. I'm also totally being a creeper in Instagram ( I've prob started fallowing half of you already!)?i love see how everyone is doing and how much their life is improved. Makes this major decision a bit easier! My IG is. lei_mua.
  12. i see this post is rather old. did you end up having Dr perez do your sleeve? My friend had his VSG in oct by dr perez and has nothing but great things to say. I kinda wanted another review so to speak.

I'm curious if anyone hasn't qualified because their BMI was a few "points" or pounds off, if they waited a but gained a few pounds and had a new consult? And how long you waited ? I was at a BMI of 40 as orientation and somehow before my consult I lost 4 lbs ( totally wasn't trying) and now my BMI is under 40. I'm seriously talking the difference of 4 lbs on qualifies me. So frustrating!!! I'm being tested for possible sleep apnea . If I have it I'm good to go if i don't I'm out of luck! Insurance sucks sometimes.
  16. Miss Mac. You are the best!!! I will def look into this!
  17. Just left my first appointment with my surgeon and some how lost a few pounds bringing my BMI to 38.8. Not quite sure how this happened as I can confess, I was not holding back on the eating to make sure I was at 40. I don't have high blood pressure or diabetes. They are sending me to do a sleep apnea test. I have to now hope I have it to be covered. Kinda sucks
  18. Sometimes you just have to be selfish and do what best for you. In the end it's my body and my choice. I just can't live the rest of my life as a obese person. The way I see it I have just as much "risk" walking down the street. Any number if things could happen.
  19. Having a hard time getting support at home for WLS. I told my mom I was thinking about it, after going to an open orientation today. She isn't really happy about my choice. Thinking I should just "try harder" at losing the weight on my own. I've been successful in the past at my own attempt but like most as soon as I ease up even a little I gain it back at a rapid weight. I understand my moms concern. She's my mother and worried about complications as well as the idea of any surgery in its self would scare her. I'm a mother myself so I do not fault her for it. It's just hard to know I don't really have her support. At least not at this point. I know she will come around... Hoping so.
  20. I read a lot of good reviews about dr shillingford.
  21. Hollywood, Dr Emil Matei, pre-op. How about you? I'm very pre op lol I'm going Tuesday to Cleveland clinic for their orientation!
  22. What hospital does is he a member of?
  23. I live in Broward county. . Cool! What part? Are you pre op or post? Where did you go?
