  1. Im 6 weeks post op, down 35 lbs. It has been hell but I am happy to see my huge belly is shrinking fast.
  2. I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope u get better fast!! How long after surgery did this happen? Praying for a quick recovery & no more problems for u!!Thanks for the well wishes. The nausea and food aversion started 5 days after surgery. Then I went weeks w/o eating and got my PICC line after being in the hospital 5 days. After getting the PICC line I was in the hospital another 7 days. This has been challenging. Im now almost 6 weeks post op.
  3. Sorry Thank you though.
  4. Thank you ladies! Hopefully this will be the worst of it and everything from here will be uphill.
  5. I had surgery March 17, 2014. I got sick and became very nauseous 24/7. I have had a scope that led to the stretching of my stomach to intestine opening and the discovery of an ulcer. I had not eaten in almost 3 weeks. My levels were so dangerously low that I was admitted into the hospital for 2 weeks. I'm out now! Just in time to spend Easter with my kids i got a PICC line while in the hospital. I am fed TPN for 12 hours a day through this line. TPN is Total Parentenal Nutrition. It is 1300 calories and has every vitamin, protein and whatever I need to survive that is fed right into a line in my vein that leads to my heart. I have a home nurse that comes 2 times a day. I never would have thought this would be me! Im still shaking my head. Is this really happening? Yes, it is. And it can happen to anyone. I had a C-Section 3 years ago and it was so simple, I didn't expect to have trouble from surgery.
  6. I have much of the same symptoms and I am 3+ weeks post op. Im in the hospital right now and have been here for 7 days. I got a PICC line that I now get all my nutrition through. I don't have a gallbladder and I already did the scope as well. I just had an upper GI today and the doctor commented that je felt I had a lot of swelling all over inside. I cant wait till this is all behind me!! I feel bad for anyone this is happening to. I know we didn't sign up for this part! May we all get better soon and never take this surgery for granted!! -Kim
  7. Hey Kim what protein do you use to mix in with the soups? Is it flavored?Me, Shannon? I don't use anything, or eat soup yet.
  8. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I'm 11 days post op and going through this right now. It feels like morning sickness. I think it may have something to do with hormone levels shifting. Good Luck! Rest, water and showers to escape....time will get us through this.
  9. Maybe eat out of measuring cups? I ordered Tupperware from e-bay in 1 and 2 oz sizes. Thats what i will eat out of. Yay for you getting to pureed foods! Enjoy.
  10. Woo hooo! You are doing AMAZING! Keep up the great work!
  11. @@Dolfinldy1 Thank You, Email address has ben messaged to you. -Kim
  12. Thanks ladies! Shannon I don't think that is what my anti nausea medicine is called. I have to check. It is encouraging that you felt similar but it got better. Today I ate nothing at all. I made my family have a delivered pizza because I cant stand the smell of cooking. I showered the entire time they had dinner so not to smell it. I think this is getting worse everyday. The proteins I have tried...it's a very long list! I easily have $600.00 in protein sitting here. Isopure unflavored, Bariatric Advantage Chocolate, Body Fortress Chocolate, Pure Protein Chocolate and Vanilla, the protein bullets from Walmart, liquid protein from Vitamin World, Geletein, and Medical Protein-Prosourse No Carb. I just can not stomach anything! Please tell me what you guys are using for vitamins if they taste good. I ordered the Bariatric Advantage Calcium Caramels. The calcium I have now is Wellease. Yuck. I have liquid centrum and a B-12/B complex liquid. All tasted gross but not TOO bad before the surgery, now I pit them in the cupboard so I don't have to see them! I'm at a loss. This is beginning to become too much for me to handle. I'm sick and sad.
  13. So sorry you're feeling so bad Kim, I just had mine Monday. Wish I had some words of wisdom for you but I don't. I guess just follow what your Dr is saying. Sending prayers your way that you feel better soon. dde07Thank you! Thank you!!
  14. Sorry to be a "Debbie Downer" but I just need to know...does anyone other than me feel absolutely miserable? Can't eat anything, smells are even gross. I feel EXACTLY like I did with morning sickness but 24/7. I'm 9 days out today. I am non-stop nauseous. I called my surgeons office and they don't seem to think it a big deal...yet. They gave me a prescription of anti-nausea meds, they do nothing for me. I'm not getting protein or vitamins right now either. I haven't thrown up, i just feel like i'm on the brink of it non-stop. Well, I can get my water in fine so thats a plus. Thanks for any input. -Kim
  15. @@wallflower I'm going to give it a try. We do have a Smoothie King. Im going to wait till I'm 3 weeks out as well. I will be happy to report back.
  16. That is a fantastic idea! How long does it take to get 12 oz down? I think that would take me all day. Thick stuff=icky! I have been informed by my NUT it will get easier, i will work on drinking enough water for now and worry about the rest when my belly is stronger.
  17. Wow, you guys are doing great! Welcome to the losers bench! Good luck to those having surgery this week!
  18. I'm struggling to get anything down! I am not hungry. Not hungry to the point where I gag if I try to eat. Surgery was March 18, 1 week ago. I'm down 17 lbs. i feel like the weight is going to fast. Biggest concern, I CAN NOT get much protein in. The taste sets me off, I get nauseous and feel cramps and go take a nap. I can drink water. Not much else. I can tolerate a few of the apple cinnamon baby puffs because they disintegrate before i swallow. I had a yum lunch today, my mom bought a rotisserie chicken from the store. She took a piece of breast meat and fat free miracle whip, puréed that for me and it was Delish! I had 1oz. My vitamins are all liquid. I am getting in some but not all that I need. I'm trying really hard, even switched several proteins, I cant get in much. I now tried the protein bullets from Walmart. They are nasty! Waiting on some medical grade protein to come. I paid 150.00. Hope it works! Anyone having struggles or can give tips on items that sat really well after eating? Please give me feedback! Thanks, Kim
  19. Thanks for the advise. I am now 2 days post op. i don't know how people move on to other foods. I am scared to move past water! Time will make it all easier. Best of luck to you and me...and anyone else facing a bump in the road.
  20. Tonight is my second night in the hospital and I am hurting. The built up gas in my belly mixed with the pain of the incisions is very uncomfortable. I haven't been hungry nor thirsty, although I am drinking sips of water now. I started walking the hallway only 2 hours after surgery. How long before this gas passes? How long before people start to feel better?
  21. I am all set for surgery. Laying here about to go to the operating room. My doctor is delayed. Not too much longer! Instagramers can find me @@cantweight I hope everyone having their surgery today is doing well.
  22. @@molly, I couldn't remember who else was tomorrow. You! Super exciting. I keep thinking I hope this works for me, and I hope I made a good choice in having the RNY-Distal. I'm sure it's normal to be concerned. Good luck girls. Can't wait to hear from you both afterwards.
  23. I am packing and getting ready. Our day is finally here! Cheers to a healthy new lifestyle. Keep in touch surgery buddy!
  24. All of my tests were done after fasting. Weird they didn't tell you. Good luck!
