  1. I'm three weeks post op and from the beginning I've had the unenviable problem of, well, I'm just going to be up front about it---regularity. I hadn't done my "business" in over a week after surgery so I called the doctor, who advised me to take a dose of Milk of Magnesia. That worked wonderfully (if that experience could ever be called that) for that day. However, I was back to my regularity problem. So Sunday (I'm going to call it Black Sunday from now on) I took another dose of M.O.M. Childbirth was easier than this experience. I have never felt such horrible pain in my entire life. I screamed enough to wake the dead and then some. I won't nauseate you with how the situation was rectified, so to speak; suffice to say this was a very humbling experience. So my question to you is, if my doctor says that I shouldn't waste my calories on vegetables and instead should focus on Protein, how are you all getting the Fiber in your diet to keep you regular? I really don't want to go through that experience, ever, ever, ever again. :help::help::help:
  2. Hi all---I just found out the chewable vitamin I have been using is not the correct kind because it doesn't have iron. So I switched to Centrum Chewables and I swear those are the nastiest tasting things ever. Does anyone have any suggestions for a chewable or liquid multi-vitamin that has iron but doesn't taste disgusting?
  3. I was banded on 9/18. I think I'm eating both too much and too fast. I finish off a 16.9 ounce bottle of water in about 30 minutes. For meals, I eat about 8 ounces of cream soup. Is that too much? I'm really afraid I've stretched my stomach and all this money I spent was for naught.
  4. Time4Me: I started having some doubts but made sure I focused on all the positive comments on this site. I keep having fears that I'm going to be that person that constantly PB's. I am horrible throwing up--it just about makes me pass out I strain so hard so I am not looking forward to that at all. My surgery is tomorrow --- it's real now and I'm getting really nervous. Good luck to you. I know you'll hit the 20 pound mark!
  5. Dear lord I'm in serious pain over here. My surgery is tomorrow and I drank that bottle of magnesium citrate and I am constantly running to the bathroom, which I know is supposed to happen but for the love of . . . ! How long does this last? Is this going to keep me up all night?
  6. gurlygirl: let's keep in touch after the 18th and see how things go. Oddly enough, going off the shake diet I lost 2 pounds. Go figure. Can't figure it out. Are you getting nervous?
  7. We'll see. It's just real clear to me that the 11 pounds I lost in 8 days was all Water. I'm scheduled to go in Monday for my blood work and a final weigh in. We'll see. On another note, I just wanted to say how wonderful it is how you keep up with everyone. It is really uplifting. You're the day after me, right? Just a few sleeps away!
  8. Ok, all. I've totally turned into the biggest cheater. I do my two shakes a day, then I go home, exercise and eat a salad with tuna and low far/low carb dressing. Last night I decided, screw it, I'm having sushi because I won't be able to eat it for a long while. So now, I've officially gained six pounds since last saturday. I'm getting real concerned they aren't going to let me have the surgery on Tuesday. I guess having my last course of hot wings before the surgery wouldn't be a good idea, would it????
  9. poohlvr--Doctor said I had to lose between 15 and 20 pounds. On Saturday I was at 16.5 lost. Now I'm back to 11 lost. Very discouraging. He may make me wait until I've lost at least 15.
  10. I'm just going to jump in here and say that you all are scaring the heck out of me! I'm scheduled to have my surgery 9/18 and have been going to Curves for my daily 30 minute workouts. Everyone on this thread is doing workouts that I'm confident would kill me! Also, I don't have that extra hour to hour and a half to devote to exercise. I'm afraid I'm going to fail with the band before I get started because I can't devote that significant amount of time to exercise. Am I blowing things out of proportion? Is it possible to lose weight with daily 30 minute workouts?:rolleyes
  11. poohlvr---interesting point. Mine said three per day and that's all I get. I skipped the one at lunch today because I'm just sick of the taste. I know this sounds hard to believe, but I can't wait until the post-op stage when I can have strained cream soups! Of course, that's if my surgeon let's me have the surgery on Sept. 18.
  12. Good luck Cindy! Let us know how everything goes!
  13. Poohlvr--all I'm supposed to have is protein shakes. I'm drinking the slimfast low carb shakes. And I keep gaining weight. I finally gave up and had a salad last night. Not really what I call "cheating". I'm going to call the doctor and see what he has to say.
  14. Time4me--my diet is SUPPOSED to be three protein shakes a day. That's it (well, I can also have chicken broth and sugar free popsicles but I stopped doing the chicken broth because of all the sodium). After gaining another pound yesterday I threw a tantrum and ate a salad with tuna (not tuna salad) and low fat low carb salad dressing. I'm getting really discouraged.
  15. Ok, group. I need a little pick me up. I lost 14 pounds on this liquid diet in 9 days. Stupidly, to Celebrate, I went over to a friend's house and had a no/low carb dinner with (a lot of) wine. Woke up Saturday and felt like I was in college--I couldn't stop throwing up. When all was said and done I had lost another 3 pounds (which hit my goal for getting the surgery on Sept. 18 so in a way I was glad, although severely worn out). Since Saturday, I have gained 5 pounds. I can't figure it out. I'm still on the liquid diet, doing everything the same. Why am I gaining weight? :help:
