Yaaaay just found out my test was normal. Thank God. I see my surgeon this Thursday to go over all my tests. If he could only tell me "Ok I'm going to move your surgery up"...wishful thinking I know.

Hi Jessica, my name is also Jessica! Yes most insurance plans request 6 month wait but this plan I have is awesome and they only request 3 mnth to see nutritionist once a month during this time. Every surgeon is different as far as what tests they want u to take. I had to do a mental eval, bloodwork, chest xray, ekg, visit nutritionist 3x and have PCP sign medical necessity paperwork and medical clearance within 30 days of surgery date. But all the tests are done prior to seeing ur PCP. Hope this helpful for u. If u have any questions don't hesitate. Good Luck on ur WLS journey!!!

My insurance covers the WLS. But I am wondering if anyone can tell me what their experiences were as far of length of time to get preauth for surgery. My surg coordinator said usually 2 weeks once I am done with the 3 month nutrition education. My final visit with nutritionist is April 15 and once she signs the medical clearance, the following day my coordinator will submit everything for preauth. She told me if goes as planned my surg date will be April 30.

So my Surgeon told me that my insurance is requesting 3 month wait to get nutritional classes and all testing done. Has anyone ever requested for the wait time to be shortened? I am asking because I have very high blood pressure and a lot of pain from herniated discs and neuropathy on right leg and I want to get the ball rollin cause I know the weight loss will help tremondously. My final class is April 15 with nutritionist I don't wanna sound rushed asking the surgeon because I know they wanna make sure I understand everything prior to surgery.

Yea u do the liquid diet to shrink ur liver so they have room to work on ur stomach and intestines when doing the surgery. Wish u the best of luck on ur WLS!

Did my UGI with barium test yesterday and Omg talk about a long test. I was in the hospita for almost 5 hours! I thought it'd never end lol Radiologist said stomach looked good no masses but have to wait for finak report of how my intestines is. Fingers crossed! Going to see my PCP today for medical clearance but I'm sure he won't sign it until he see my bloodwork results that I'm not doing til Saturday. Aahhh yes the journey continues...

That is truely Amaaaazing!!! Congrats on reaching ur goal! I also have a goal of doing marathons, cancer walks, etc. I have always wanted to do it and I know I will once I do the WLS and start losing sum weight. Keep on running and fantastic job on ur journey!

Hi Steve! I've been told by numerous Dr's that once u lose weight ur BP will get better and u won't have to take meds anymore. Of course that's not 100% guarantee but it will definetely get better. Wish u the best on ur WLS!

I have 2 herniated discs that are pressing against my nerves causing neuropathy and pinched nerve pain on my legs. I am wondering if anyone had the same thing and after surgery the pain went away or got relief?

What exactly is the liquid diet that you do prior to surgery? Is it clear liquid, protein shakes and soups only?

Well I got my clearance from therapist...woohoo one less thing checked off! Still have to get medical clearance from PCP next week, blood work, chest xray and UGI test. So far I've seen the nutritionist once, she will be the last person to give me clearance on April 15. Fingers crossed insurance gives auth soon after and will be able to sched surgery for early May.

So I have started all my tests that I need to do prior to gastric sleeve surgery. Ive started seeing bariatric nutritionist last week and going to see psych for evaluation...anyone can tell me how this eval goes and what kind of questions do they ask u? Also going to see my PCP this week for medical clearance.
