I'am doing well 5 days PostOp dealing with getting in so much medicine and drinking out of med cups every 40 mins but I won't be ready to come into the city by myself for the meeting. See you next time!

So my Lovin Husband came home tonight from watching football at a Sports Bar which saved me from trying to be comfortable Out for 6 hours. But he brought home 2 frozen pizzas & they just happen to be my favorite frozen pizza. A psych Test I guess but I will not be moved. No feeling tastes as good as thin feels! I'm on a mission.

@@tacycakes my husband is a RN & wants me to try Prune juice first before I go with my surgeons recommended Liquid Colace &/or Milk of Mag will let you know how it works.

Thanks to who ever mentioned the Water AP a few days ago to Track water intake. I downloaded " WaterLogged" today free & it is changing my PostOp for the better. I use little medicine cups to get my liquid in & just seemed such a long way off before I would get 64 oz's in. Not now .... This AP was created by a guy after his wife had surgery it includes reminders too. Love it!

@@Beni forgetaboutit my surgeon recommended I take chewable Flintstones multivitamin with D - Chewable calcium citrate by Twinlabs Vit C and all other pills with I solve in my mouth or I crush them with a can or if a casual open it & pour into warm diet tea.

The Drug Enforcement Administration said it would reclassify hydrocodone combination drugs such as Vicodin and put them in the category reserved for medical substances with the highest potential for harm. The "rescheduling" means people will be able to receive the drugs for only up to 90 days without obtaining a new prescription. The opioid pills are taken by millions of Americans, including after dental surgery, for back problems and broken bones. Currently the pills can be refilled up to five times and prescriptions can cover a 180-day period. The new classification will take effect in 45 days, the DEA said. "Today's action recognizes that these products are some of the most addictive and potentially dangerous prescription medications available," said DEA Administrator Michele Leonhart. The change means that, in most instances, patients will have to present to a pharmacy a prescription from a health-care provider and no longer can rely on a phoned or faxed-in one. The move had been resisted by drug makers, wholesalers, drugstores and patients with pain. They said there were other ways to reduce painkiller abuse and were concerned that people suffering acute pain could be harmed by barriers to treatment. Seriously ill patients will now have to visit their doctors more often than necessary to receive the drugs, said Mark Fleury, a policy analyst at the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, a lobbying group that opposed the change. The move also will limit the ability of nurse practitioners and physician assistants to prescribe the drugs in some states, he said. Most people who abuse prescription drugs illicitly obtain them from friends or relatives with legitimate prescriptions, said David Belian, a spokesman for Actavis ACT +1.20% PLC, a maker of generic hydrocodone-based medications. He added in an interview that the change "will place a significant burden on patients, the vast majority of whom use them in a legitimate manner." The new restrictions also will place additional burdens on pharmacies, which will have to store the drugs in secure locations, said John Norton, a spokesman for National Community Pharmacists Association. Antiaddiction advocates said the decision would prompt health providers to be more vigilant about how they store the drugs and offer them to patients. "If you're treating someone with a condition so painful they require treatment with a highly addictive drug, that's someone who should be monitored closely," said Andrew Kolodny, chief medical officer for the nonprofit addiction treatment organization Phoenix House, who campaigned for the change for five years. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said that more than 16,500 people died after overdosing on opioid-based painkillers in 2010. No other class of drugs, legal or illegal, is responsible for as many deaths, its figures show. Hydrocodone combination drugs are largely sold as generics. Major makers include Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. TEVA -0.81% and Mallinckrodt MNK +4.10% PLC. A few are known by brand names, including Vicodin, made by AbbVie Inc. ABBV +0.89% Mallinckrodt said it backed the DEA's decision as part of a "comprehensive approach" to reduce opioid abuse. "We do not believe the rescheduling of these hydrocodone combination products is likely to have a significant impact on our business," said Lynn Phillips, a Mallinckrodt spokeswoman. Some 127.86 million prescriptions for them were dispensed in the U.S. in 2013, down 6% from 2012, according to data provider IMS Health Holdings Inc. Sales reached $1.05 billion in 2013, up 21% from 2012, IMS estimated. The DEA in 2009 asked the Department of Health and Human Services to weigh in on the merits of rescheduling. The food and Drug Administration, a unit of HHS, said nine months ago that the drugs should be reclassified. Hydrocodone combination pills had been in the less-restricted category since 1970, when Congress passed the Controlled Substances Act that set the categories used by the federal government. Pure hydrocodone drugs had always been in the highest category for medical substances, the DEA said. Linden Barber, a former DEA attorney who now heads DEA compliance operations with the law firm Quarles & Brady LLP in Indianapolis, said he didn't believe the action would have a significant impact, given abuse of drugs such as OxyContin that already had tougher classifications. He also warned that it was possible that doctors would lose any incentive to prescribe lower-strength hydrocodone combination products once they entered the same category as higher-strength products. So I'm 4 days PostOp feeling Good now that I'm figuring out best way to get my 6 meds on top of the multivitamin. Calcium & my 3 regular meds from my old life. I was in the hospital 2 nights with my surgery on Tuesday Oct 14 & came home Thursday 10/16 Just been very tired & had insomnia last night. Hoping I'm over the top now. Feeling good today I walked the dog ( a short walk) today & I'm out doing errands with my husband Home Depot and watching him eat lunch at a deli. I don't mind I even warmed up some dinner for him last night I'm not hungry plus I took a protein drink & one of my med drinking 1 oz cups with me and just got a diet iced tea. Still have some gas I think, no problem going to the bathroom but thinking a little milk of magnesium will get rid of a little fullness I'm still having. I love my NYC surgeon Dr Christine Ren-Fielding and all her staff minus me of the NUT's and I'am so glad I got the VSG!!!!! Good luck everyone!!!

@@Beni I was told not to bring my CPAP and they in turn gave me their CPAP machine ..... Well they have only one line in this hospital and its used for everyone including in the ICU. It was so Complicated I tried taking it off my first night in the hospital and putting back on myself after a night bathroom visit and the nurses to,d me the next day the alarm on it went on & off al night. Luckily I slept thru it. the 2nd night they had respiratory come up to put it in me right and when I took it off they came back at 2am to put it back on and at 6:30 am I finally gave up and said please turn it off I'll just stay awake now. If I hated the CPAP machine before I truly hate it now. I'm thinking about setting afire in front of the house Halloween night. ????

No back pain but I have discomfort @ my weakness incision site which had lots of fat its on my side. I was trying to take the liquid med pain on schedule even if I didn't feel any pain but stopped last night and still feeling ok. I don't. Want to get too comfortable with the narcotic. My only continuing discomfort came yesterday a feeling of fullness in my abdomen and little tightness in my chest. I re read my med list and decided I was taking one of meds for nausea incorrectly. I have to let it dissolve under my tongue and I was letting it start and then washing it down. Wrong it moved too much medicine too quickly. Also I have meds I take every 4 hours, and I was taking them as a group one right after another. Wrong.... At least for me. learned from my mistake and today feel better. Hope you feel better@@Buffer

Hello feeling good after hour & 15 minute surgery. Hour & half in PACU & now in a room with 3 beds on a wonderful all Female Patient floor. When I came out of the OR & woke up I had a little difficulty breathing because I don't do well laying on my back so soon as I got to PACU they raised my bed. By the way I asked for the patch but my anesthesiologist said unless I get motion sickness he wanted to go with a mixture he uses based on each patients med history. Plus I asked him to monitor my brain activity with a head band they stick across your forehead I had more pain in my shoulder then my stomach a combo of having my arms stretched out like wings by anesthesia & then gas pain. The RN's put warm packs on the shoulder & then gave me Tylenol it got better but took until I came up to my room before truly improved. I've been pushing the buttons to dispense pain med as soon as I feel even a bit of incision pain which is keeping me pain free. Nothing to drink till tomorrow but they gave me a mouth swab & cup of Water to swab my tongue & teeth which is keeping me from drying out. I'm a little tired but no nap yet .... My surgeon Dr Christine Ren Fielding was wonderful and played Katy perry ' Roar" at my request just before I drifted off & again when they brought me back out of anesthesia. My best tools. Having my IPad & Noise canceling headphones so I could play my music to calm me as we drove to hospital, waited in preOp & in Recovery. Thank Beni & all my fellow October Surgery BP friends! My husband took me to the movies to relax, my bag is packed & I'm eating my dinner now ... Rushing before NPO @ Midnight. I will check in tomorrow at NYU Langone Med Center at 9:am sharp -my surgery is scheduled for 10:30am. I'm a little nervous but ready to be on the road to Recovery & PostOp. Wishing all the best to my fellow Gladiators. I'm asking for the patch & I have my GasX strips & a robe to cover me during my Laps around the Nurses Station. I went with Sweats to wear to and from the hospital & packed my husbands car with two pillows and a blanket for the ride home. I'm ready to Defy Gravity. & Roar! ????

@smiley922. So sorry your have to go thru that . Quite frankly I'd rather do 2 weeks of PreOp liquids like my Surgeon ordered. It's amazing how different the PreOps are for everyone.

Re: Home Meds. For those going tomorrow if your not sure take them. Everyone else I would recommend calling the surgeons office to check. I work in the OR & my experience is the hospital should have a list of your meds from your Pre Admission Testing appointment. I had my appt. last week at the hospital Ambulatory Center. My experience When your in the hospital they will only give you the Meds that come from their Pharmacy. Again Please go with what your Surgeons office tells you.

@@zoepoodle when do you go for your Followup? I would call surgeons office about the nosebleeds.
