  2. I am new to this message board and so happy I found it. My surgery date is May 7 and I am counting the days nervously. I am seeing a wealth of information here and it is great to hear from people in the same position. I am 46 years old and have been disabled for the last four years due to chronic degenerative disc disease among other problems. The doctors say I need to lose some weight and it will relieve some of the pain. I am in a catch 22. I have to exercise to lose the weight but I can't exercise because of the pain. I am hoping this surgery will at least kick start the weight loss so I can get off some of these meds I am on. I am tired of going through life in a drug induced fog. My son deserves more from me, my partner deserves more from me and I deserve more as well. Sorry for the rambling post, I'm just very happy that there is an outlet for people like me. Good luck to everyone who will be having their surgery soon. I am very excited for you all.
