No Shame in My Game...I Told Everybody About My WLS
I told everyone, too. I got a couple of people (personal trainer friends) tell me that they could help me so I wouldn't have to get surgery, but mostly I got a bunch of well-wishers and a few that wanted to learn more about the surgery for themselves. I do not regret having the surgery or telling everyone! YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!! :)K

1000 words
Wow- you started exactly where I started, and you are now exactly where I want to be! I'm hanging on to some old jeans, just to take a similar picture. I can't imagine wearing a 4! Thanks for the encouragement!

100 Days of Lap-Band
Thanks for the encouragement! I am happy to read your comment about my body stabilizing. It's a little discouraging to plateau, but I guess it's all part of the journey! K

100 Days of Lap-Band
Hi! It's been 100 days since my surgery date! I've posted a recap of the days and progress photos on my blog: http://banderland.weebly.com/100-days-of-lap-band.html I was hoping to be able to post that I lost a total of 50 lbs pre- and post-, but it's not meant to be! I have plateaued at 49 lbs for a week now!!! I'll take the good with the bad though. Lap-Band has been great to me. - K

How/Why did you choose Lap Band?
I chose it because it made sense for the control I wanted to have. I like the idea that it can be adjusted through fills or removed all together. But, all Weight Loss Surgery has pros and cons. All methods have risks and rewards. All methods require work on your part to make weight loss happen. I had my Lap-Band done March 3, 2014. I love it and would do it again in a heartbeat. Find a surgeon you really trust and discuss the options. The important fact is that you are taking this step to a healthier life. Good luck! - K

Banded for 10 months
Yes! I eat exactly like that! My go to is one egg, a cup of chili or a cup of refried Beans. Even with a restaurant size "cup" I am taking most of it home. Sometimes instead of ordering myself, I eat just a bit off of other people's plates. At home, I have bought really small fancy plates to eat on. I wrote about being a portion snob on my blog. I am not judging other people, but I do question the amount of food restaurants serve in one meal. It is almost impossible to order small sizes. Thanks for the topic! Sounds like you are doing great!

Slow loser... totally worth it :)
Congrats! You are looking really good. You are correct, everyone has their own journey. What counts is that you are on a journey that is working!

Banded Today!
Congrats! Take it easy and be proud of being on the other side. I tried to not take pain pills either because of the constipation. Tylenol worked really well for me.

I LOVE MY BAND!
Thank you! This is great inspiration. You sound very happy and you look amazing! - K

2 questions.
My port area was sore for a full month. I would do yoga, and could only do the stuff on the left side, not the right side where my port was because it was too sore. I would ask your doctor if it a constant bad pain.

My YAY me present
I just got on a bike for the first time since before surgery. It is so much easier -45 lbs! When I hit -50, I am getting myself a new bike! Great idea for a motivation gift!

Fabulous! Congrats on the progress! It must feel great.

Scared and Execited at the same time
True! And you can buy better quality food because you eat less of it. Not to mention your friends picking up the tab because "you didn't eat all that much". I love it!

First Band Adjustment
I find if my mind says "just one more bite", that's the one bite too many and I will feel too full. So when I think that, I know I am done and I don't do it. Good job stopping! It's hard mental work.

First Band Adjustment
Usually after a fill, you go back to liquids for a couple of days, then mushies for another couple, then back to solids. Definitely ask your surgeon or his staff about what they require, but I am pretty sure it will be liquids (Protein shakes). Other than that, your fill should go really smooth! Good luck!

I just posted a blog entry about dreaming of food. Read what happened to me last night! http://banderland.weebly.com/1/post/2014/05/day-69-dream-nsv.html It will get easier as the sweets are flushed from your system, and your energy goes up. - K

I did it ! Banded yesterday
I agree - the first 3 days were the worst. But then little by little you start feeling more like yourself, and when your energy starts to spike, you know you are on your way! Congrats!

nervous about surgery on may 15th.
It's totally normal to be scared and excited! I am so happy for all of you as you follow your own journey. I am 9 weeks post-surgery and every day I discover something new about myself and the band. I am thinking good thoughts that you will have a great experience as well.
