February/March 2014 sleevers
I didn't have to do a pre-op diet and I thank god for that. But it will get better, I promise you that. After surgery your tastes will change too. I can't even eat sugar now, I get sick. Literally. I've tried eating icecream, and I get so nauseous it's not even funny. How many more days do you have? And I smoke. I've been a smoker since I was 14, so that helps. But I also have a giant bag of lifesavers and hard candies, the wherthers I think they're called?

February/March 2014 sleevers
so you haven't had your sleeve done yet? Just trying to clarify haha. I will say though that the difference from the sleeve to band is incredible. When I had my band, I couldn't sleep because of the pain. With the sleeve, no pain in the stomach area. I'm a stomach sleeper, and I am so close to being able to sleep on my stomach completely! Also, it's so much nicer knowing that smaller portions will fill you up. With the band, you could eat a whole pizza if you wanted over hours because food dropped to your bigger stomach. With sleeve, we don't have that, so we really are forced to stop. Sorry for the mini story book haha. I'm excited for you!

February/March 2014 sleevers
better day by day. Tired, every thing wears me out. I have a lot of bruising so I'm still sore in those areas. It's hard breaking the habit of eating when I'm bored. I sit around the house and remember a time three weeks ago when I would just make meal after meal. :/ how about you?

Nauseous after eating?
I'm a week post op, on full liquids. Mostly throughout the day I just have thinned soup, boost, and water. Whenever I eat, I get nauseous. I'm not sure if that's due to healing, or due to eating too fast, or just the fact that my stomach isn't used to what it's getting? I have zofran, which helps immensely. I know I'm not eating too much because I only eat 4-6oz at a time. Anyone else have this issue?

I had my lapband removed and was sleeved on the 5th

How long until you worked out?
Just wondering how long you had to wait until you were able to start working out? I'm 6 days post op, down 9lbs but I'm going stir crazy! Still have 11 days until I can return to work.
-
Sorry. ..must bring it up!
I'm 6 days post op and have the same issue. I'm either constipated..or not (to put it less graphically.) I'm not sure what you're on for pain medicine, but I know norco causes constipation.

Not sure if this bruising is normal? Help.
Just an update. Went to ER last night because of increased pain and increased size of bruise. Told me that it was normal, and they didn't see any obvious signs of a hematoma so that I just had to be patient and wait for it to heal on it's own. Here's the bruise last night.

Feburary Sleevers!
exhausted. I can't get enough sleep! I ended up with a massive hematoma across my lower abdomen, makes it hard to move and do anything. Other than that, I don't feel like I just had major surgery. I was in more pain after lapband than I am now honestly.

Protien Shake
When I was on protein shakes after band, I used Jillian Michaels brand and added in some SF pudding for taste. Still could barely get it down. Now after switching to the sleeve, I can't even stomach the smell of protein shakes. I opt for Boost instead.

Feburary Sleevers!
Had my revision done on the 5th

4 days post op
I think the term "clear liquid" just varies from doctor to doctor. I've seen some people allowed protein shakes in the first week, where as I've got to wait after the first week. My cream soups though are extremely thinned out haha. I prefer to play it safe.

Ugh, still feel hungry!
how is the taste?

not too bad. What's a stricture?

Ugh, still feel hungry!
How soon were you able to eat eggs/egg beaters?

Ugh, still feel hungry!
I actually don't mind the taste of the boost! I get the chocolate kind. They offer two. One with the green cap offers a lot more protein than the red cap, which is what I have right now. It tastes almost exactly like the chocolate milk they offer at high school lunches. The vanilla though is something you should stay away from

4 days post op
I can't wait to get to cottage cheese. And typically, your sleeve can hold 8 oz of fluid. So you're not overdoing it.

Hair Loss Problems...Check this link out!
It grew back, but it was much finer than before the surgery. It was a lot similar to baby hair.

Hair Loss Problems...Check this link out!
This is definitely helpful. When I had my lapband, I lost a significant amount of my hair, which wasn't that thick prior to surgery. I can only assume now after being sleeved, I will lose even more. Thanks for this.

4 days post op
I am 4 days post op as well and I am able to eat about 1/4 can of cream soup, which I'm sure equals about 4.5 oz. what was your directed post op diet?

Ugh, still feel hungry!
And let me know how you do with the potato soup! I'm kind of basing my rebellion on you since you're a couple days ahead.

Ugh, still feel hungry!
I actually strained the broth from chicken noodle soup, so I guess that would be chicken. I added some seasoning, but it wasn't the most appetizing thing I have ever had! I just tried the thinned cream mushroom. Definitely got full off of that, felt like I was going to explode after only 1/4 can! For Protein, I just try to drink skim milk, and I drink boosts as well. An 8 oz bottle gives you 15g of protein, plus a lot of other nutrients.

Ugh, still feel hungry!
That's awesome! I added some low fat sour cream to broth last night, it went down fine and I felt full for the first time in awhile. Ate it a bit too fast though. Congrats on your loss so far! I was sleeved 2/5/14, and as of this morning I'm down 6 pounds from when I came home. Have you tried anything more than creamed soups yet?

Ugh, still feel hungry!
That definitely might be it! I pooped on day 2 post op, and it helped the gas pain so much. You're definitely brave for getting ready to go back to work! What do you do?
