  1. I started the process at 401 pounds and right before surgery, 9 months later, I weighed 414. I know that wasn't the right direction to go in. I can relate to everything you said (especially the bathroom thing!) about not being able to move around or even get off the couch. I am down 71 pounds and already can tell such a difference in my mobility. You have inspired me! This long journey is possible! Keep up the great work! You will enter onederland very soon!
  2. I had my RNY on December 3, 2013. I started at 414 pounds and have been diabetic for about 18 years. Before surgery, I was taking 3 shots of Novolog before meals (50 Units) and 65 units of Lantus Solostar twice a day PLUS 2000 mg of metformin daily. Diabetes runs in my family (grandfather and father). I have lost 71 pounds and currently weigh 343. My sugars went into the 400s while I was in the hospital after surgery so I came home on a sliding scale. I went to the doctor 6 days after surgery and he took me off ALL of the shots because my HGAiC had come down from 9.4 to 8.3 just since my pre-surgery blood work. I feel so much better. It's amazing how bad the insulin and my sugar levels made me feel and I didn't realize it! I fully expect to be diabetes free very soon and you will be too! I wish you the very best of luck!
