  1. Thanks and congrats on your V day surgery! Pre-op is not difficult for me, as I am required to do Atkins induction low carb diet. I have done this several times over the years and failed about 2 weeks later...so about the time I normally fail, I will be having surgery! :-) down side is that I don't think I will lose much weight during pre-op, like the liquid dieters do! Are you on liquids?
  2. Okay, my rant is to the only two family members I chose to tell about my upcoming WLS... I have been preached at to lose weight for health reasons for as long as I can remember and now that I am taking a HUGE step forward I get snide looks and "please tell me you are not serious." You would think I said, "Hey, I am going to have a sex change operation this month." Why are they so quick to be against my decision when they have been part of my misery for a long time and know how I have been hurting with all this weight on me (physically and emotionally)?? Grrrr....so frustrating...wish I had kept my mouth closed...
  3. Thanks for your input catfish...With my upcoming schedule, I don't know that I will have much choice, but your story and what I've been reading does make me think...outside of gas pains and soreness of the incisions, what else should I be thinking about for post op?
  4. Hey everyone, I have a question on going back to work after surgery. I am an Accountant and this is our busy time...I am not telling anyone that I work with about my surgery. I just took one day off for the surgery on a Friday and have client consults and a full day of work the following Monday. Will this big a MAJOR problem?...obviously not recommended, but will I be able to function? I have had 2 C - sections with my kiddos, and have been assured that this won't compare, but am I being too optimistic?
  5. Thanks starfish...I had my boyfriend take them and I think he realized for the first time how much weight I have gained since we have been together (5yrs). He didn't say anything of course, but he has very quickly became supportive and willing to help me with this lifestyle change, which is the first time ever he has engaged when talking about losing weight! That made me feel a lot better...as you said, only tears of joy going forward!
  6. Hey there...hope everyone is doing great. I started my pre-op diet yesterday and am counting the days until Feb 14th. I took my before photos yesterday and then sat down and cried...
  7. I am in North Austin and am getting the band on Feb 14th. ..would love a buddy/support group!!
  8. Congratulations! How wonderful for you!
  9. One more attempt...any Austin banders looking for a buddy?
  10. Again, thank you Brant...such kind words...I do hope to be like you and like what I see looking back at me...I do believe there is a beautiful person trapped under all of this weight...Thank you again - everyone on here inspires me to take this journey one day at a time and enjoy what I hope to be a new lease on life!
  11. Cheryl, in all the posts I read from you, I am so appreciative of your straight forward way of communicating. It makes me feel challenged and ready for this journey, so thank you very much for your feedback!
  12. Thanks Steph and congratulations on your loss!
  13. Wow, every post I read from amazing people like yourself makes me want to cry! I feel uplifted and ready for my life to change for the better. Thank you so much!
  14. Thank you so much! Everyone on here is making me realize that I am human and it is okay to have some doubt...I am beyond grateful for this forum.
  15. You are such an inspiration! I think I may just print your post out and tape it to my mirror for a reminder of what I can accomplish! A big congratulations to you on your loss, that is awesome!
  16. Great advice, Thank you! Congratulations on your weight loss...how inspiring! I considered plication also, but thought I should start with the band and then go from there. Thanks again!
  17. This just made me cry...Thank you for your kind words - I can remember I used to think I was attractive...The sad part is that I look the same except for the weight - it has morphed me into this negative person who doesn't want to go in public....you pegged my feelings perfectly and I truly appreciate how you related to my situation...I can't thank you enough.
  18. Thanks Starfish! Our surgeries are five days apart and I look forward to hearing about your journey. I love your attitude and strength about this...I am going to do my best to do ME! :-)
  19. Oh parisshel, the wonderful weight watchers journies...like you, I have thrown away money and everything else, but the weight, to WW...The constant failure of every diet is one of the reasons I am the biggest I have ever been - it wasn't the diet that was the main problem, it was the failure...I am an emotional eater and every time I fell off the Wagon of the next best diet, I would eat like I was never going to get fed again...Thank you for your words..it is so helpful to know that all of the wonderful people on here can relate to what I am feeling. So grateful!
  20. Thank you Sharpie...you are such an inspiration and I truly appreciate you sharing your story
  21. Thanks AuntDi...speaking of slave to food, is it normal to be two days from starting my pre op diet and trying to eat everything in sight up until then? It makes me think even more about being a failure...I feel ridiculous about doing it and I know it is the completely wrong choice...
  22. Thanks Kim...I will think of your words when I am struggling with staying on liquids and having doubt.
  23. Thanks Kim...I will think of your words when I am struggling with staying on liquids and having doubt.
  24. Thanks for the advice Debbie...it does make me feel better to hear you say that it will be a slow process...I have given up in the past because of no results, but if I don't have the preconceived notion that I will lose fast, then hopefully I will be able to stay focused on the change of lifestyle and end goal versus the immediate remedy. Thank you!
  25. I did this too and you are right, the most offensive form of desperation to lose weight that I had ever tasted. I was supposed to do it for 21 days...more like 21 hours for me.
