My surgery is April 24th! Pre-op diet starts April 10th!!! We are almost there!

Hi Everyone! I got approved for surgery...April 24th! Only problem is my insurance is now making me use Dr Bridgett Holden instead of Dr Kim. I will have my surgery at Baylor Trophy Club, which I have heard great things about..I am just worried about Dr Holden as she is fairly new. I know Dr Kim trained her, but the reason I chose Dr Kim is because of his great recommendations and experience. At first the office told me she would be performing my surgery with Dr Kim assisting...now they are saying Dr Kim will not be there. I just don't know what to think. Has anyone used Dr Holden? I know she must be good or Dr Kim wouldn't let her represent his office....just worried.

That's kinda scary....you're not supposed to drive yourself after having an EGD. This will be my 3rd one (acid reflux issues for years) and all 3 I have had strict instructions that I cannot drive after. In fact, I have to bring my driver to the appointment or they will not do the procedure - I think that is pretty standard. You might want to consider having someone drive you anyway. Good luck to you! Ladybug, how has the sleeve affected your reflux issues? I am pre-op, and never had a reflux problem until anout a month ago. I don't know if it s all in my head or what. It is worrying me...I don't want it to get worse with the sleeve. I go for my EGD on 4/10.

Where are you? i am being sleeved in April also in Dallas at Forest Park Msfitn2014, who's your surgeon? Mine is Dr Holden from Kim Bariatrics. My surgery will be at Baylor Trophy Club. I go for my EGD in 3 weeks, srt my liquid also that day, then surgery in 5 weeks from today!! It is getting real!

Who is your surgeon? Mine is Bridget Holden from Kim Bariatrics. I will start my pre-op diet April 10....protein shakes for 2 weeks

Hi!! My surgery date is April 24th! I had my first consult January 15th, did everything insurance required, and got insurance approval in Feb! Had my cardiac clearance the end of Feb, and they called last week to schedule my surgery! I live in Northeast Texas and will have my surgery in Trophy Club(Dallas). I start my 2 week pre-op liquid diet 4/10. I am super excited to get this show on the road!

What's an EGD? An EGD is the same thing as an Endoscopy I believe. It is where they run a camera down your esophogus into the stomach. I think it is to check for ulcers and acid reflux damage?? Not 100% sure.

That is ALL I can think about! I had my cardiac clearance yesterday, and should get my date next week! Should be in April!!!

We will probably be sleeved around the same time! Melissa told me last week that March surgeries are already booked, so I will be April. The cardiac clearance was not bad at all. I'm so excited for us!

I also found out that since my BMI is 42, I will more than likely only have to have a 1 week preop diet. I will have to purchase the shakes. 1 weeks worth is $75.

It went good! Hopefully I will get a call next week to schedule my EGD and surgery!! How is everything going with your process? Melodyrene77 how was your cardiac clearance test?

Will I be required to buy vitamins/protein drinks from Dr Kim's office?

Hi abrooke!! I go for my cardiac clearance next Thursday, so I'll let you know how it goes. Melissa told me it will take a week to get the results, then they will call to schedule my surgery! I am so excited! I have not had to take any nutritional classes...I am wondering they will tell me all about the preop diet and everything. I live 2 1/2 hours away, so Melissa said she got the nutrition class waived...I kindof feel like I need it though. Will your surgery be at Baylor Trophy Club?

Another question.....do you know what size Bougie Dr Holden uses?

Hi Everyone!! I just found out yesterday that I am approved for surgery! I have BC/BS and originally Dr Kim was to be my surgeon..just found out yesterday that Dr Holden will be performing my sleeve at Baylor Trophy Club. I go for my cardiac clearance next Thursday, then Melissa says we can schedule surgery for April!!! Yay!!!! Will they know the results of the cardiac clearance that day while I am in the office?

I got my approval phone call yesterday...I have to go do my cardiac clearance next Thurday, then I will be able to schedule surgery. My coordinator said it will be in April! Yay!!!!

My cousin lives in Wytheville! Just thought that was a coincidence! She ds not have the sleeve though ...sorry to be no help!
