  1. Susan - you entered my starting weight as 161. Can you please update it to say 161.4? I wasn't sure if you were using whole numbers this challenge to simplify, but noticed others have ounces recorded! It's kinda a big deal for me since my body is holding on to these last couple of pounds and any ounce I lose is a reason to celebrate! Today's weigh-in is 160. Down 1.4 pounds. Will I ever see the 150's?!?!? Sigh.
  2. The first 48 hours were brutal. By the third day I wouldn't have known I had surgery except I had ugly incisions on my belly. I count myself lucky that I was one of those that had an easy recovery and minimal pain. I went back to work 2 weeks after surgery and could have easily gone back a week later as I was going stir crazy with boredom!
  3. Today's weigh-in 161.4. Challenge goal weight 154. That's only 6.4 pounds but I'm at my surgeon's goal weight for me and my body really likes where I am! I need these challenges to keep me on track! I have been snacking like crazy this week!
  4. I'm still at 160 this week, so no change for me! Oh well! Bring on the next challenge!
  5. Count me in! I will check in on my Monday with my starting weight and goal weight for this challenge. My weight loss is slowing down as I'm getting closer to my goal weight.
  6. Looking good guys! I wish I could post a pic as I'm proud of my success! I'm a tad nervous as the only people who know I had wls are my partner and my parents! Even my two kids are clueless! We were out to lunch the other day and my 13 y.o son said to me, "are you still thinking about having that surgery where they remove your stomach?" I laughed and said, "I had it, how do you think I've gone from 241 to 159 pounds?" His response? "Mom, don't you think we would notice if your stomach was cut open and if you stayed in a hospital?" Well there you go. If you didn't know how ego-centric teenagers are, they are both clueless to 1) hospitals kicking patients out the day after surgery and 2) modern advances in surgery! They didnt believe me when I tried telling them the truth! Let them be clueless. I'm just fine not having others knowing the secret to my success
  7. Huh? Where do you see a picture of me?
  8. A belated Merry Christmas to those in Bariatric land who celebrate! How have the holidays been for everyone? I haven't had much issue now that the cookies are all gone from the cookie exchange I attended a few weeks ago! Moderation is key and I'm making healthy choices most of the time! Would love to hear how everyone has been! We used to be such an active post. What happened?!?!??
  9. 160.1 this week. Down 1.9 pounds from last week. I laid off the Christmas cookies but sure had my fill of other holiday tasty treats and still lost! No way I will meet my goal of 156 by next Friday but I will be thrilled to get to the 150's by the new year!
  10. 162. No movement on the scale for me this week. Honestly, the way I have been stuffing Christmas cookies in my mouth, I'm just happy I didn't gain any weight! I went to a cookie exchange party last Sunday and the first few days lost a pound after eating 10 or so cookies per day. So I continued on that pattern and well, here's the result! Good news is the cookies are almost gone. Bad news is it was me eating them!
  11. 162 this week. Another 2.2 pounds lost! Not sure if I will make my 156 goal but I will be thrilled to enter the 150's by the new year!
  12. My Bmi was under 40 and I qualified with just having PCOS alone. No other comorbidities were needed.
  13. I found boxes and boxes of old clothes up in the attic this past weekend while getting down the holiday stuff. I was thrilled as it was all stuff from high school (circa 1985-1989) and the 90's I wore before kids and gained weight. The sizes (back then) ranged from size 10-14. I currently weigh 164 pounds and have been fitting into a modern size 10. Back in 1997 when I last weighed that amount, my jeans were a 14. Almost every item of clothing I tried on in those boxes were tight on me! Regardless, my current size 10's are smaller than the current size 20's I was wearing 8 months ago!
  14. 164.2 this morning. Down 1.4 pounds. Weight loss is sloooow and steady. Not sure if I will make my 156 goal. I will be happy to make it to 159 and officially enter the 150's. Can I change it?
  15. A Kardashian I am not!
  16. 165.6 today, so down almost a pound from last week. I had my surgery in April and up to this point, haven't really done anything special to lose weight as the weight as just fallen off. Now that I'm within 15 pounds of reaching my final goal, I'm thinking I may have to actually kick it up a notch and actually start trying!
  17. I'm 166.5 today. Down only .3 of a pound.
  18. 166.8 today. Down 1.2 pounds. I honestly don't know how THAT happened since I've been eating Halloween candy daily since my son came home with over 18 pounds trick or treating! Good news is the Butterfingers, kit kats and Twix are pretty much gone and I don't fancy the rest. I have never been one to buy candy on my own but Halloween candy does me in every year! Good news is post sleeve 2-3 pieces fills me up vs. I could eat a whole bag before!

  20. .... And let the challenge begin! Starting weight 168. Goal weight 156 12 pound loss by 1/2/15
  21. Oops - forgot to checkin Friday with all of the Halloween excitement. Final weight was 169.6. Down another .3 pounds . Surpassed my goal and then some. Ready for the next one
  22. Hi there - I am self employed and purchased my insurance through covered California (Obamacare) in January. Elected the Northern California kaiser plan and was accepted into the Kaiser South San Francisco Bariatric program a month later and had my surgery in April. No hoops to jump through and the process was a breeze. Feel free to private message me if you want more info.
  23. Hi ladies! Quick check in. I have been so busy with work/life and haven't been on BP much. I participate in the BP challenges which I find really helpful to stay on track. Otherwise, I'm beginning to see why a lot of veterans don't stick around long on these boards. It's gets kind of boring fishing through the same posts about stalls, hair loss, best protein shakes, etc. It's the case of the "been-there-done-that." This process has been amazing. I have had ZERO complications and once I accepted that the weight would come off at its own slow rate, I was okay with the process. I am 169 today. Down 70 pounds since the beginning. I have 9 pounds until I reach my surgeon's goal of 160 and 19 pounds until I reach my goal of 150. Funny thing is the closer I get to goal, the FASTER I'm losing! I spent most of my life as an active, fit person. It was only the last 10 years I packed on 80 pounds when I let my work/life balance get out of whack. It's almost as if my body remembers where it's meant to be and wants me to be there! Don't hate me when I say this journey has been one of the easiest things I've ever done. I already ate a pretty clean diet. I don't really like junk food, so the restriction helps me with portion control. I don't consider myself an emotional eater, so I haven't had to struggle with a lot of the emotional issues that often come up post wls. I cut 6" off of my hair into a chic bob which helps disguise how much it has thinned. Although the hair loss seems to have slowed down a bit. I am really pleased how little saggy skin I have. I was really worried about this. My arms are really tiny! I have a small amount of saggy skin on my inner thighs and on my stomach in the area below my belly button. This area was stretched out from 2 pregnancies and only a tummy tuck would repair that. Otherwise everything else is snapping back into place. I'm not really doing anything special. It's likely genetics and very. Slow. Weight. Loss. How is everyone else doing? I saw mention of a check in but nobody followed up!
  24. I'm in. I will report my start in weight on November 7th!
