  1. I read a lot of good things about DR. Gonzaea in TJ. I emailed them and a doctor called me right back. Your BMI has to be 33 or above. I've filled out the medical forms and am going to set up a date to have the surgery. End of Sept or early Oct. Price is 7,500. Frpm Tucson AZ I can get a cheap easy flight to San Diago. I will also get my fills an follow up in TJ
  2. HI all, I just talked to DR. Venzela (can't spell name) about getting surgery with DR. Gonzalez. He said that a manufactor of LapBand is having dr. Gonzalez teach docs here in US about it. He's doing this in Jan. of 2008. I've decided to go with DR. Gonzales.
  3. I just filled out the form for Dr. Gonzalez and got email saying that someone will contact me shortly. Reading the posts in here makes him seem like the one to go with when you are self pay and not rich.
  4. IndigoGirl, I didn’t read the posts on the article. All those stereotypers and critic, bigots sure stir up my anger.
  5. Sweetviolet , when you hit the 60’s all kinds of ailments seem to set in because of obesity. At least that was my experience. Happyamper Good luck on surgery Claramae thanks. Yes you got it, I do feel more confidence. Eureta , I think obesity and the complications really does age us before our time. But I hear that it’s like quitting smoking once we make it (lose the weight) our bodies age backwards some. Diannam yes , but I weighed 70 pds less at 56yrs. so I didn’t know what those extra 70 pds would do to me. Robkc good luck, let me know how it turns out
  6. An interesting article on virus causing obesity Virus Could Help Drive Obesity - MSN Health & Fitness - Diet & Fitness
  7. Nicnaknut & Dynamo thanks for CO weather info.
  8. PHYLLSER it’s my DH that is also too chicken to take RV into MX, especially since he’s had his new ‘toy’ for only a few weeks. We are only a short distance from the Mexico/US border.
  9. macacoza, I will be a self pay so the surgeons over 10,000 are out for me. I live in Silver City, a small (14,000) old mining town turned into a art and retirement haven, in southwest NM. It's in the foothills of the Gila national forest and wilderness. ABQ is about 250 miles from here, but I do drive up a lot to see my children and grandchildren. They are all in ABQ.
  10. pacupatty, good luck on the diet everyone thanks for the reassurance. It seems silly that they would have an age limit because it's almost a nessesity because of health reasons. Must be just some USA docs that have that age 65 cutoff.
  11. Nicnaknut, I think I found the right thread. Hi All. I'm a potential serious Dr. K for the lapband. Anyone know when the snows and ice begin in Denver CO area?
  12. FROM FORMER FAT ATTACK Indigo Girl I want to thank you for the URL. Am making that thread my home thread.
  13. Hi all. I'm seriously considering going with a MX doc. Have any of you RVer's taken your RV into Mexico? Wondering about doing that when I get banded.
  14. Devana Thanks, today I found out that my insurance doesn't have a Bariatic surgeon on there provider list. Thinking serious about going to MX doc
  15. IndigoGirl, I appreciate your insight and know that wine or hard stuff, I am right back into my addiction. Like you say I have a double whammy because I also use food for a friend. Food and booze. Since I found out about the LapBand and the super success people have, I have begun to look at both addictions and am ready to fight them. I'd give about anything to be slim.
  16. Dynamomini---Indigo Girl is right on. What we have is an addiction and the serenity prayer is an answer. Find out who or what your higher power is and learn to hand it over...the higher power can become your best friend. I am an achoholic and have spent a lot of time in AA where I have seen the miracles of the Higher Power work for addictions. As a matter of fact (hopefully I am not a hypocrite) I have went back to drinking for the last several years. But, at least it is wine and not hard liquer. Along with the lapband prep, I plan on quiting. I went back to booze and food cause I neglected my relationship to a higher power and quit going to my AA meetings.
  17. IndigoGirl, yep, New Mexico Sunshine, which is where I live......
  18. Thanks Boomer46 CrochetGranny, I'm afraid that I am going through a real hassle with my inusurance. For months now my doctor and I have been trying to get my insurance to approve a new blood pressure medicine to replace the Ace Inhibitor I was taking. I got angioedema from it and am lucky to be alive. Still no approval!!!! I can just imagine the hastle I will go through trying to get the LapBand surgery approved. So, I'm looking at self pay and a Mexico doctor..........
  19. Indigo Girl, I made it to this thread and it is loaded with good info. thanks.
  20. Hi from former FatAttack, I just got me a new handle. This sounds a little more cheerful. IndioGirl55, going to that over 50 thread now. Thanks
