  1. Wahoo! 313# today! Have a great weekend, everyone!
  2. Hi Kitty and thanks so much for the post! I actually met with my new PCP just on Monday who is 100% in support and although my surgery isnt until 3.28 - she had me set up my 1 week post op appt w/ her right then and there! I'm really grateful for the feedback because it convinced me that I needed to change PCP's to better suit my needs. Unfortunately I have really crappy insurance (hence the surgery is in Mexico) and there is no coverage for naturopaths. But it does cover counseling and I am seeing 2 right now - both for eating disorder and just to really prep for the surgery and my life thereafter. I forgot to talk to her about my birth control though. I have PCOS and take the pill to help with that. My surgeon says I dont have to stop taking it but that just feels weird to me. I feel like I should stop taking them a few weeks before the surgery. Doesn't that sound right? I know I need to put in a call to my OB/Gyn but since the birth control topic came up I thought I'd ask....
  3. Back on track coming in at 316!
  4. Sorry I'm late! I was out of town on business and unfortunately gained. I'm at 322 - ugh
  5. I'm in Seattle also! Sx is in March but were looking forward to the sunshine when were there. Go Hawks!
  6. I scheduled mine during my partners spring break so she could go with me. My coordinator says many people do that.
  7. Starting this thread was just what I needed to get myself out there and put a different spun on how I see things. I just flew from Seattle to Chicago like I do every two months for work and thought to myself: it's only a little but I feel better in this seat than I did the last time. And the next one I'll feel even better!
  8. Thank you, Bea! Today's weight - 317!
  9. Oh I'd be stressed too! Can you go to the office and make the appt? Total inconvenience but will give you some assurance.
  10. Hi! I'm scheduled in March with Dr. Cabrera so I'd be interested to hear about your experience!
  11. Thanks for the feedback. I have an appt with my dietician on Tuesday and she is on the same group. I was hoping she would help reassure my PCP that this is routine care. However, I think Ill start looking for a new PCP....
  12. I there! Surprisingly-my PCP is kinda giving me a hard time about my follow up aftercare. I'm scheduled for sx on 3.28 with Dr Cabrera in TJ. First she grilled me about my expectations from her and I explained that I'd like to see her a few weeks before just to touch base. Then a week post op to check suture sites. And lab work a few times a year to check for any vitamin/mineral deficiencies. Now she's asking me if my surgeon has a plan in place for any vitamin/mineral deficiency. My first thought is.....supplements, right? I mean - I've had a vit. d def. before and took supplements. Should I just respond that I'm getting the feeling she's uncomfortable and find a new PCP or just ask my surgeon about it?
  13. Ok here we go! Today's weight: 330 2.14 goal weight: 310
  14. Today, I feel great! I walked .10 of a mile yesterday and did 50 modified push-ups. Yes my knee and back hurt after walking but a little ice and elevation - well this morning I woke up with no pain! So tonight - I hope to go .20 of a mile. I'm using My Fitness Pal to track my food and exercise - and a pedometer to track my steps. I figured that I need to be on a 900 calorie a day diet in order to lose the 40 pounds before 3.20.14. Yesterday I consumed 1300 calories - but 600 of that was oil popped popcorn with butter - something I can easily cut out. Today, I feel great. Positive - motivated - ready to do this!
  15. This outpouring of support is.....wow I'm just really feeling it right now and am shedding a few happy tears. It's so helpful to be able to relate. From weight and height to location to even comparing myself to football players. I am soooo not alone!!! xoxo
  16. Hi! Newbie here. I'm scheduled for a VSG on 3.28.14 and have 40 pounds to lose before my surgery to get my BMI down to 49. I am 330 pounds today. That's a lot of pounds. However, today I started my diet and will exercise when I get home. I will never be this heavy again. My journey is beginning - and I'm grateful to be surrounded by all the support. Thanks - just had to get that out there....
  17. Ok I'll do it! Current weight-330 and goal weight 300! Thanks for doing this!
  18. I'm in! Question - if I can't get through 20 seconds in one plank. May I do 2 planks 10 seconds each back to back? Or do I have to make it through to consider it a successful plank? Today I had to stop midway through...
  19. Hey NoMoreChubby I'm in Seattle too! I have surgery in March w/ Dr. Cabrera - same hospital. Way to go and best of luck to you!!!!!
