hi ma its wella 123 here. i have one littlebit of advice for you. when myself and my friends that i have made since having the band went for our consultation we were only interested in the band. i since found out that because of my eating i would have probably been more suited to the bypass.i would advise you to find this out as with the band you can still get the chocolate and ice cream and other goodies down,you are lucky that you have information we had not got . hope this helps and if you need more info i will help you if i can , all the best in whichever you decide wella 123

hi ma i have my band 15 months and was losing weight really well. i got a port infection last July and had two port replacements. without restriction i lost no weight and actually put about a stone back on but now I'm back on track. i lost a total of three stone between Feb 2007 and august 2007. i know people that have lost 8 st in fifteen months. the band works but you have to work with the band and that's where the GOOD AFTERCARE comes in. if you want a phone number for the new clinic i will give it to you, i know the surgeon who is doing the bands and i know how dedicated he is .

hi ma1977 the surgery is performed in Dublin with all the aftercare in Dublin . the price for the band is 11,000 euro and that includes fills for a year , dietitian , and psychological support for a year. the surgeon is resident in Ireland which is very important, he is also an endocrine consultant very experienced in weight loss solution's clinic is state of the art. the first consultation is free i have the band and paid 10000 euro for it . i am delighted with my band but had a lot of problems with infection which is sorted out now. if i had to do it again i would go for a company that provides aftercare of a high standardi hope this helps you, happy days

hi there there is a company called obesity solutions set up in Dublin, they are offering the banding , bypass, balloon, and gastric sleeve. there price includes one years aftercare to include dietitian and psychological support. they have a residing surgeon who will be permanently residing here.the surgeon is approved by the medical council

hi marge just reading your last post and wondering are you a gastric band patient or are you thinking about having one, i was banded last febuary myself and i am very curious to know a little about yourself and your interest in our site.

i totally agree with you marge as far as im concerned we have to learn from this . is it going to take another disaster before we get off our arses and stop acs treating us like fools. there is only a few of us turn up to any meetings so if other people can afford to pay 10000 euro and be treated like idiots i cant , so sisters lets take action and do what marge suggests and pay acs a visit and get answers.wella123

hi does the doctor in loughlinstown know how to fit the port i am without a port and slowly putting on all the weight i have lost. i know the band works brilliant for me when i have restriction but i lost my port due to infection and without one now for two months. i am begining to despair at this stage. glad your feeling a bit better wella123

I'm so sorry to hear about your sister and i know how awful it is when something like this happens to a sibling as i have personal experience. its a terrible time waiting for the results and the radiation can make her very sick.It sounds like the doctors are treating it aggressively which is good. hi all i think we should all meet and try to get some answers to our queries. i have been on to consumer rights and they suggested us getting legal advice. i think we are just poking in the air as we have no idea what our rights as consumers of THE LAPBAND , for the moment we should deal with getting facts on our rights . i know there are some ladies that dont want people to know they are banded and we will overcome that somehow, but we have to be informed of our rights as consumers and i suggest that two or three people represent us going to free legal advice. i think we have to be united on this matter and not hide behind each other or push one or two people forward and let them take the fallout. we do this together. or just let each other look after themselves. looking forward to hearin everyones thoughts on this matter.wella123
