    Wendy's Chili

Thanks guys! This makes me feel better. I tried some last night just to see what would happen. The Wendy's where I live makes it really runny which was good for me in phase 2. I only ate the veggies and the luquidy broth and left the beans and chunks of meat. I ate a third of a large. Man was it heaven after 2 weeks of nothing but water, protein shakes, and chicken broth! It's probably not something I will choose to eat all the time, but it is nice to be able to have a little treat when my family wants to eat out. Another place we went closer to after my surgery was Sweet Tomatoes (aka Souplantation). My family was able to enjoy the salad and other foods, and I enjoyed all different kinds of broth from the soup bar. Delish!

    Wendy's Chili

Does anyone eat Wendy's Chili? I heard it is not too bad to eat, everything in it is soft and easy to chew, and I looked up the nutrition list and it is packed with protein and fiber. Is this something that is ok to eat if you're out and about and need something quick?
  3. Oh also I just had my surgery done 2 days ago. The people there were AMAZING! Someone met me right as I walked into the hospital, and walked me through the whole thing. Also there is a lady named Mindy who is from Dr Umbach's office that was there. She herself had the surgery last year and had lost 100lbs. She was so nice and also was there the entire time checking on you and making sure you were okay. I would highly recommend using him. I am terrified of hospitals, doctors and surgery, and I am so thankful they took such great care of me!
  4. Hi, Um I am not sure what the self pay price is, but I do know he has a very competitive price, and I know a lot of his patients travel to Las Vegas to use him. They help you find a great hotel to stay in, and their staff is amazing and I believe they set up your whole trip. I had my insurance cover it, and I am from Vegas, but the pre-op class I went to at his office was full of people from all over. Some from Louisianna, Georgia, etc. so I know his office helps a lot of people all over the country. Just give them a call. The reseptionist is very nice and they will answer any questions you have.
  5. Hi Muffinsmomma,May I ask what price you are paying in Las Vegas? I am a selfpay, looking to schedule in March 2014, and researching prices to see if travel is worth it.Many Thanks Hi Muffinsmomma,May I ask what price you are paying in Las Vegas? 6. I LOVE the chocolate 100% Whey from costco! It is so so good! I use it as a base with a bit of almond milk and half a banana with some ice... Blend that puppy up... Yummy! Seriously.. It's fantastic.... Also if you have a vitamix blender... You can blend it longer with the ice... And it turns into ice cream!!! Seriously! It comes out so thick you can use an ice cream scooper to serve it with! Does anyone else use this brand? If so how do you prepare it?

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Hi all! I am brand spanking new to this website. It's pretty cool! I am having VSG on December 28th. I am super excited, and to say I'm nervous would be an under statement! I am 32, 353lbs. And 5ft 8. I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis pretty bad. I am nervous about my RA acting up during recovery. I also have a 5 year old little girl that I am wondering how to explain my trip to the hospital to. Any suggestions or advice for me? Any tips or tricks on the 2 weeks liquid diet? I am getting a vitamix for Christmas, and I am excited to use it! Thanks guys!
  9. I am currently using him. I am 2 weeks pre-op. I will say that the staff is amazing, and everyone seems to do their jobs. They are very nice, and helpful, and the office is so beautiful and fun to go to. Dr. Umbach is a nice man, and definitely knows what he is doing. I have total confidence in him as a surgeon. He is a tiny bit socially awkward, and seems to be really tired when you see him in the office. He depends on the other staff to inform you on the status and happenings of surgery. So, by the time you get to him you have next to no questions to ask. He is willing to answer any questions you do have, and take any time you need. The nutritionist there is very knowledgeable, and willing to educate you on how to eat properly. She can get a little preachy and go off on tangents about different things that go right over my head, but it just shows me she is very passionate about her job. The hospital that Dr. Umbach uses is called North Vista Hospital in North Las Vegas. It is kind of a hole in the wall hospital. It's old but the staff there are super nice. All in all so far I'd say I'm pretty impressed. CAN NOT wait to have the surgery! Good luck! If you have more questions let me know!
