I have Almanza as my surgeon. We fly to San Diego tomorrow morning. Surgery on Monday. Super excited and kind nervous...obviously. lol

Rumor is that they decided to not use Camino Real hotel and went back to Hotel "T". Any thoughts?

How long does the drain stay in? one or two days?

I was referring to long term post op diet. Beyond liquid and soft food diets. Also I was interested in everyone experiences regarding us taller and larger guys in respects to exercise methods. like what works best & when to do exercising. With us being over 6ft and 390 plus, we tend to loose weight faster than most others in this lifestyle. I want to loose the weight, but do it in a healthy manor and have a routine that is safe. I hope that makes sense. LOL

Was there any pain post-op from surgical site? I hear there is more gas pain than anything else. Is this true or a rumor?

Looking for a sleeve buddy to talk with and compare notes and share stories. Looking to share in this adventure of a new life. I'm scheduled for March 10th.

Hello Borders3, MI Doctor in Tijuana is a real Hospital. You might wanna look them up. That's where I'm having my surgery and have spoken to others that had their surgery there too and turned out just fine. Good Luck. Thank you for your concern, but I'm not worried about the location. I decided to go through them because of their impact left on them by past patients that I know locally.

I'm Scheduled for March 10th, 2014. Any tips on things to bring that they didn't recommend in their paperwork, Flight issues, pre-op procedure & post-op procedure, things to expect at the hotel....Anything really. I want to know por favor. LOL. I'm going to try to document everything I can, to help those future VSG patients out there. Thanks.

Thank you for moving it to the proper area. Yes, I'm aware that it is located in a strip mall. I've heard great things about it though. LOL. I've looked very hard into this. On this forum, on youtube, their online websites & through people I know locally that have been there. I may have been worried, but not anymore.

So, after long talk with my wife & information from people we know, I've decided to not have the sleeve with the surgeon in San Fransisco. We are going to have the Vertical Sleeve done in Mexico. I know multiple people that have done this exact procedure with the same surgeon in Mexico and they turned out great. Plus the cost is considerably less than then they other surgeon. I'm the type of person that likes all the info upfront about everything. I don't appreciate it when they know finances are an issue for everyone, and not tell me about a fee of $5,750.00 until after I jump through all their requirements and my insurances. I know some people may not approve of people choice to go to another country for surgery, but for me, I feel its the best thing for us. Plus it's nice to have a caring wife who is Hispanic and speaks fluent Spanish too. I'm not worried at all, in fact, I can't wait until March to have the procedure. I'm going through www.weightlossagents.com for the procedure. They are great to talk to and are able to answer all my questions I had. Plus I do like they Patient Portal the have avail. The surgeon is Dr. Almanza with Jerusalem Hospital in Tijuana Mexico. If you have gone through Dr. Almanza, please give feedback. Isn't it nice that they decide to tell us this after we jump through hoops. They know exactly what they are doing. If they were to tell people before hand, I bet their profits would drop.

Agreed, it is hard to complain. I just gotta keep my goals in sight and let time do its thing. I'm just glad that things are rolling in the right direction.

That sucks. I know its hard to feel better while reading these posts while going through pain, but on quote that makes it all the goals come into focus is: "you have to go through hell to get to heaven" Just try to rest and follow the Doctors orders and the nurses instructions. I worked in hospital with post-op bariatric patients before and one thing I've learned regarding pain is, once you feel something coming on, DON"T try to man up and not take any pain meds. Because by the time you give into the pain and demand meds, the pain may be to intense for the meds to do any good. I also recommend that if the nurse asks you if you want anything for pain, TAKE it, because he/she may be with another patient if you need the med later. hope this helps brother. Best wishes.
