112 grams of protein
Hello dust, when I had surgery I was told to have 40-60grams of protein a day, because our body shouldn't ake more that that. It would take a elephant to work off 112 grams of protein. lol I would call my doctor again to re-affirm that. I found a protein drink at GNC with 40 or 50 proteins in it, but was advised to not drink it all at once. Well, I drank about 8 ozs of it this morning and I swear I had such a high, I could have cleaned every house in my town. I don't know if it was the drink or if I over did the amt of proteins. The students literally thought I was off my rocker. LOL

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
Hello everyone, I'm like some of you. I can eat anything. I have had 2 fills and no restriction whatsoever. I try to watch what I eat, but sometimes I mess up BAD:eek:. Then I repent for that day and start over again. I think that the dr thought I was doing good because when I went back for the 2nd fill, he asked if I wanted a fill----DUH !!!! was he kidding (I had lost 6 lbs.) but that was because I've been walking myself to death and TRYING hard not the eat a whale with super fries.lol I thought I was the only one having those mood swings, gosh, my DH is about to commit me. LOL:faint:and what's up with the thighs leaving me. I see the "apron" stayed. Well, other than that life is great. LOL Love my band!!!!!!!!! Gloria

Poll - what causes you the biggest problem to get down?
Not much spicy foods for me. I reach for the H2O, which is no-no, lol and I don't think I can wait 30-60 minutes with my mouth on fire.

East Texas Banders
I love my dr's, but I wished I had known about Dr. Querry and Pittsburg. Just for the convience of distance ,getting the fills and having to get to work. I work in Daingerfield (high school) and every 6 wks, I'm making a mad dash there (Texarkana) for a fill, then drive like a mad woman trying to get to work before I'm counted a 1/2 day. Dr. Keilin (she's the one that performed my band) is also laid back. Dr. Hekier (Dr.K's hubby) is very nice. Dr. K went to school with the doctor that is on Big Medicine (Dr. Davis and his son in Houston). There is also a group of bandsters that meet in MP (Titus) every 3rd Monday. We meet right by the cafeteria. Please come if you like, we'd enjoy having you until your doctor starts one. Take care and here's my dr's website. Lap Band Surgery Texarkana- Serving Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana.

East Texas Banders
Hello everyone, Renewed, I didn't know that there was a doctor in Pittsburg that performed lapbands. A friend of mine siad that she overheard a conversation at Wally world (Mt. Pleasant) that they did them in Pittsburg. I had mine done in Texarkana, (Wadley Hosp.). They were all friendly. Do you get your fills there (Pittsburg) as well? Paris, I'm just east of you (Omaha). No food addictions, but I sure like food. lol I just had my 2nd fill (10/23) and I feel no restriction, but they say maybe in about 2 wks. I should. I could eat Moby Dick with super size fries, but I have to make wise choices. I sure miss my cola's and Dr. Pepper. LOL Best to you on your band.

Poll - what causes you the biggest problem to get down?
I can't tolerate turkey of any sort. Chicken has been a challenge for me as well. I am on my 2nd fill and as of yet, I don't have that much restriction (hoping that in about two weeks I'll feel some). If I eathard boiled eggs, they stick, but I've been trying to soft boil them and so far they go down. I hope that when the restriction kicks in I'm eating something soft. LOL

Texarkana Bandsters
Good morning all, Well, as of today, I can still eat a bear and not feeling all that great.:sick I think I might be getting a cold or something. Can anyone tell me when they felt some restriction after a fill? Was it after a day or two, or a week or two? Hippmom, twin is good, she's losing weight good. I wish I'd get where she is with the restriction thing. But I'll be patient. Have a great and beautiful weekend.

Good morning all, Beautiful morning and the weather feels great, wish I could be home but, thankful for a job. Hope everyone have a blessed day!!!!!!! Forgot to tell that Dr. H looks great. I asked about the surgery and when could I possibly think about having the lipo done and he said usually in about a yr/two. Lisa, how do I camoflauge this "apron" of mine? LOL

Texarkana Bandsters
Welcome Viper!!!!!!! Lisa, when did you start feeling some restriction after getting a fill? Does it take about a wk or two before you feel it? I have been trying hard everyday (except weekends) to exercise, mostly walking. But I hope to after this first semester. I am going to exercise with Lou. As Lisa quotes, "stay in the box". Have a blessed day everyone. Gloria

Congratulations Lynn and DH on your weight loss. Sorry to hear about the passing of your grandmother. You have my sympathy. Okay, so what's going on with these knees, toes, and feet? LOL If you look back Lynn, you can read all it. But now everyone is on the mend.

Texarkana Bandsters
Good afternoon all, Lisa and Hippmom, you all must have said a prayer for me cause the needle didn't hurt. Dr. H did it. He and the nurse asked me if I needed a fill, I laughed and told them " Yes, I'm very hungry". I guess they thought that the 1st fill did wonders for me-NOT. I hope that this does something for me. It did for Lou, and you all know that we are just like twins (lol). We got banded and most things we do alike. She's my best bud. Lisa, how did your visit go? Dr. H said that even I will keep coming every 6 wks, but I didn't have to get a fill. Can all of you all tolerate salads? I didn't know if we could eat lettuce. Welcome NewJ!!!!!!!! to bandland.:glasses

Good morning everyone, I see that all had a super weekend, it was beautiful. Lisa, congrats to you DS and his team. I know that you and DH are very proud of him. Hope you are getting pictures for DG (grandchildren). lol, you do look great, I didn't see you before, but I can see what I see and you are small. Sugar, I hope that it's just that you need more in your band and not a leak. Don't get discouraged. I don't know a whole lot, but I do know that this site is the best place to be for support. LO2, You are doing great. Congrats. Hope I can lose like that. I get that 2nd fill tomorrow (I'm trying hard not to think of needles, lol) and looking forward to more restriction, I didn't have ANY after the 1st. Hippmom, hope you and your Boo-Boo are healing good. LOL Arkie, how are you doing?

Have a great weekend everyone and like Lisa ALWAYS says "stay in the box". LOL

Texarkana Bandsters
Sorry, Hippmom about your bo-bo. I think that they should have given you a lollipop causing that much pain. LOL:heh: Glad that you are on the road to recovery. It's supposed to be a beautiful weekend, maybe you can just get outside and soak up the sun.

Just banded
Bekkie, I work for the school system and I'm also a bus monitor. We didn't start to school until 8/27, so I had 2 wks to recoup. I would ask the dr about the drive. You are right about the rough ride cause sometimes now, I feel like I'm exercising on it, LOL. Oh, I forgot to tell you about the Biotin, multi-vitamins and one lady says that she take B-12 (energy). The biotin is for the ones that sometime their hair fall out (lack of enough protein). It is also good for your nails. My hair didn't shed, but I take them anyway cause I like my nails long. Also, I try hard to drink plenty of H2O, instead of the "crystal light to go drinks", they are great, but at our support mtg, the lady said that the best way to get rid of the fat is to drink H2O. I drink the "to go" drinks sometimes, but I can tell the difference when I drink the water. I try to cut off my water before 2:00 pm cause I don't know about your bus, but mine doesn't have a bathroom, LOL. I know that you won't need this infor for a while since you only had the band for a few days, but I just thought maybe you'll need it later. Take care.

Just banded
Congrats!!!!! Gwenie, Remember to get all your medicines and foods to eat. I did that before surgery and it worked out good.

My Fears...
Arin, I too utterly hate vomiting, but I have twice since banded, but it was my fault--why?---I ate too fast and didn't chew well. I am learning (slowly) to eat correctly and slow down. I read on a thread for "fast eaters" to look at your food for five minutes, then eat. Well, I said that I was "SLOW",LOL and I still am practicing. I had my 1st fill, but I have no restriction, but I'll have my 2nd next Tuesday and I'm looking forward to having some restriction (although I'm terrified of needles, but that's a different story, LOL). I have found so much support here, so continue to post and read, but we are all different and we all react to some things different. The band was the best thing for me. My DH still doesn' t really support me, but that's because HE has chosen not to concern himself with the things I eat. He still thinks I can drink sodas (I loved colas) and daily I tell him that I can't. He certainly notices the weight lost, now that's where he concerns himself. LOL I know that you want that support, but after all, it's your life and your body.
