  1. Misty, I totally agree learning all I can and living every way I can too! I feel so much in control! I eat every 3 hours small meals with the same guidelines for after surgery! Some of the meals have the smaller portions. I am glad I am doing it now so I can fail while it is still safe! Learn from my slip ups and try again!!!
  2. Planning meals ahead and taking food with me has really helped with last months goal. This month is to find as many high Protein dense foods I can and the ones I like! Key word here is dense, small amounts packing punches of my meal needs! Learning that 2oz-4oz of something has to fulfill my needs so finding and trying!!
  3. What did doctor say? I hope everything is working good with your meals now.
  4. On 1/7/14 had my second Nut appointment, had lost 13 lb. from Dec. visit so very happy!!! Learning about how to get Protein in after surgery. Because I had 2 months with Dr. Before hand it is getting really really close to time for surgery date!! I am excited still learning and trying to find out as much as I can ahead of time!! I also got clearance from lung Dr. And Heart Dr.
  5. So glad for your loss, so quickly. I hope my journey produces the same results. I have been losing in this pre-op stage and hope to keep losing clear up to surgery. I will be finished the beginning if March but will not be having surgery fingers crossed with approval until May. I am in my last semester of college and need to finish then have the whole summer before going into the classroom!! I have been debating this journey for 5 years now and Sept. I decided I was taking control of my life and changing and I have lost 40lbs and before surgery I hope to lose 50 more... Big goals but I am very determined...I am blessed to be able to do this journey and know it will bless my family and me!!!
  6. I slipped by necklace over my head without unbuckling it. I saw it was getting loser as I lose. I wear it everyday never take it off. So today was washing hair over tub and it kept getting in way without thinking I just took it off over my head, it shocked me! Then I giggled and put it back on to only take it off again the same way!!!!
  7. I am in Mount Vernon Ohio. I am planning on having my surgery at Riverside in Columbus in spring April/May.
  8. I am also still in pre-op stage and am practicing every step of the new lifestyle soon coming. I even have lost 40 pounds doing this. I eat every three hours I am eating small portions and yes I am very aware of food. I am looking at everything that goes in my mouth and measuring things too! I believe that the obsession will get less the more I learn and become confident in.
  9. A little gain this week. it is that time if the month...so not surprised it is water +4 lbs. 302 HW 347 Pre-op
  10. When I first made my decision to have WLS, I found myself consumed with learning everything all at once. I am that kind of person. I do not know anyone personally who has had WLS surgery other than on these boards. I found myself staying up watching YouTube and reading all the time. With the advice of my Nutritionist, she wanted me to slow down and learn step by step and enjoy the process of change. I still am a sponge and try to learn everything but I am enjoying the time to learn and then try before hand. Makes me feel prepared.
  11. Misty, I am sort if in the beginning I have to do a 6 month journey of diet instructions. I am finishing month 3 I will not have surgery the earliest is May 2014. I too am so excited and want it to come quickly but it will go fast these months are flying by! So many new things to learn and experiment with eating schedules. I am glad I have this time to learn. It makes me feel more in control of the choices I am going to make for the rest if my life. Good lucky with your journey!
  12. Roast chicken tender and green beans
  13. HW 347. CW 297 pre-op....broke 300!!! To celebrate I cleaned out my closet and tried on every piece of clothing and I own...3 bags full going to goodwill because too big.
  14. Since I am pre-op I can't answer this except make sure you are following the Dr.'s orders. Just because we feel ok with things doesn't mean they are ok for us to do. Please be safe. Glad you are doing so good so soon after.....
  15. I normally take the C and iron at bed and calcium during the day all other vitamins in the morning. This was all new to me before Sept. I had never took vitamins except during my pregnancies and those were short lived because how sick I was.
  16. I am pre-op so I had bought gummies at first so I am finishing them up as they run out I am adding chewable Multivitamins and chewable C that I take with Iron pill. I have chewable Calcium. I also take a b12 pill and a Vitamin D pill. All my levels were good except iron was low so making sure I eat foods with iron too.
  17. My Nut said to think of a gummy bear in a very hot humid car how they get sticky and sweat and sort of melt. they do that in the pouch and are like a glue. In your pouch they do this and can make everything sticky and clog because takes forever to dissolve. So no gummy vitamins plus the sugar can cause dumping.
  18. Thanks for the info about gum I haven't heard that yet! I received the warnings about gummy bears so broke that habit. Learned why no gummy vitamins. So will not eat gummy bears for same reasons. Sticky, sweating, paste stuck in pouch sounds awful!
  19. I am pre-op and loving going to the Nut. I am learning so much about food and the in and outs that even now it is changing my life. I am shocked at how uneducated I am about food and others around me too. Maybe because of my love for learning and education I am so shocked on the misunderstandings about food we all have. I can honestly say I wonder if I would be where I am today in my weight struggles if I would know what I know now! I can say greatest shock is the difference between carbs and sugars and that some prepared packaged food are good for you
  20. I can't tell you how exciting it is to at least know those craving might not be there after the surgery. I understand everyone is different and how each one's body reacts is different but still to know that it could not be there helps. Do you guys use gum to try to help with cravings? I have never been a gum chewer but it is becoming high in my thought list to use between meals.
  21. I am pre-op and working so hard on all the changes to the new me! Every once in a while I have some really bad cravings... Before I was a candy eater..gummy bears and skittles were my weakness... So for 3 days craving skittles...all I can think about...any ideas to make this go away or food substitutes to put in their place?
  22. Kpatnode90 I had the same goal! soon I will be under 300 so need to set new goal to be under 280 day of surgery. HW 347 Pre-op start 337 9/16/13 CW 306 12/20/13 I hope to have surgery end of April 2014.
  23. I Had first psych evaluation on 12/16/13. It was an interview it was nice to talk about my goals and have them confirmed as good. There will be one more psych evaluation filling out the questions. 3 more months of Nut appointments and many Dr. Appointments between getting excited and glad to have the time to prepare for this new life style.
  24. Visited Nut and new habit is making sure to have good food with me at all times, might sound weird but I can go all day without eating and we are breaking that habit...so finding bars and things I can keep in my purse so I have no excuses..
  25. So glad your home safe. I pray your recovery goes quickly as you settle into the new you
