  1. Kendra I am sorry to hear your brothers reaction. I am seeing how others see my life and comments made about it are from their perspective only. My worst comment came from my father... It was about all overweight people but directed at me. It is sad when others can not be supportive. I am doing this for myself and still going to share when I think it is a "need to know" moment...
  2. How's it going misty? I read other post and looks like life is rough for you right now. I totally understand. I feel like everyday there is a new challenge to face. This week was putting a beloved pet down, and on the same day finding out my mom has cancer. This year has been so rough and trying to put myself first with the WLS has been such a challenge. I am doing it though... I didn't turn to food this week to find comfort!! That is huge.. Going through the 6 months process has changed my body but also my habits, not all of them but enough that I can have confidence I can do this journey and it is the right one for me... I hope you hang in there for yourself and your girls... They submitted for approval this week too so soon I will hopefully be post op instead of pre op..
  3. I haven't received my date yet but paperwork was submitted 3 days ago. I am hoping for an end of April date. Completed every step except meeting surgeon but that happens after approved. Now the waiting begins.
  4. I will say at first when I made the choice to start this 6 month process I didn't want to tell anyone. I told just my husband and my parents. As the process has progressed I found myself in situations that required me to share. When you are losing weight and others start see it and notice you are attending dr appointments monthly, people who love you can start to imagine bad things.. Being a very private person this was very hard to balance my own privacy and others caring thoughts, so I took a chance and started answering on a "need to know" basics. I think how we define "need to know" is where it gets murky... Now that I am almost 60 lbs down and waiting approval for surgery in April, that "need to know" group grows daily... I learned that you can impact each person different. I am 5 weeks before finishing my degree in college before the last step( student teaching). I never thought to tell my professors what I had decided about WLS. I had a advisor come to me and say we needed to talk. Ok.. Taken aside, and she looked at me and said, " are you ok?" I was like.."yeah why?" She said one of the professors came and said you have lost a lot of weight and was going to the Dr.'s and was worried about you. I told her and the professor.. Even though it made me very uncomfortable but to be honest a little excited too.
  5. Dr office called today! Submission today should know if approved before 2 weeks.. I can not express my excitement...I know this is just the beginning to a very long journey but I can say how excited I am for this new life to begin.. I am setting goals and making plans for my future!
  6. Had my last Nut appointment today. Blood drawn for H pry. Test and then submission! So excited... Once approved.. Meet with surgeon and preop so hoping for an end of April date... I did gain 4 lbs but it is that time of month and stress is off the charts... So glad it is spring break!!!!!
  7. That is what I believe I will do too I can say I am so excited to have my surgery in May having nice weather and being outside will only help. I keep telling my kids this summer we are doing so many outside activities!! I want to walk on the bike path.. And work in the garden.. I hope as each pound leaves the more strength I get! My youngest keeps talking about her trampoline so hopefully in the fall I will get to jump on it with her!! Wow that will be fun..
  8. That is so wonderful!! I hope I have the same results upcoming in May. Go tip go!!
  9. I can say I am experiencing this in different ways too! My husband is great, my biggest supporter through this pre-op period. My sisters are all thin like 125 thin. So they are excited for me but also there is a side tension happening. When we talk about the up coming months and my personal goal weight which is 150-180 I am 5'9. They keep saying that is too thin. You should not get that small! I was in shock at first I mean do they forget their own weights and sizes? Then I have been thinking about it, in life everyone has roles... The baby, the oldest the smartest. I have always been the strongest, hardest, toughest...and my size played a role in that... I was never the one who got carried, picked up, threw in pools, or sat on others laps... That was all them... They were the gentle, quiet, giggles. For once in my life I want all those things I want to be seen different. I am glad I at least have the support of my husband and he can help with the comments and statements... I don't even think they understand...
  10. I am still pre-op submitting for approval beginning of March hopefully having surgery end of April 2014
  11. I received the fitbit for my b-day from my kiddos. I am pre-op and wanted this so bad to track my meals more than anything. I have the alarms set for every 3 hours and it is great to remind me to eat!! Not having to always watch the clock...
  12. How is everything going misty? Hopefully things feel like they are falling into place.. Things move quicker than you think. I have an upper GI to go and then submission in March to insurance! This has been exciting I started in Sept. 2013 so by time all said and done it will be 8-9 months it is totally worth it.. I am scared of all the changes and getting approved or not, but I do keep the win that I was willing to go for it and the changes I have made now will last no matter the outcome!!!
  13. Wearing a necklace bought over the counter as a gift from my daughter! I can't tell you how many dollar necklace I have in the bottom of my jewelry box because never could fit... Yesterday she came running and I was like sweetie you know that won't... In mid sentence she slipped it around my neck and clasped it and yes it does!!!! And yes it does!!
  14. Tip!! That is so good and I share today in your excitement I am under 300 today too!!! 297 I also got news that we will submit to insurance first week in March!!!
  15. I love the quote about blooming! I decided to have a good cry and then start again.. Today food choices were good. Even have food prepared for tomorrow... Getting back to drinking Water at right time and battling hunger but that is the name of the game right now until I get all this crappy food out of my system... I am going to let hurtful words go and decide if I can forgive then I can move on... Thank you all for listening to my rant and understanding those moments when your wind leaves the sails...
  16. I have been reflecting this morning in what derailed me! What caused me to spiral back out of control so hard and even harder than before I started this journey? My choices yes, my will power yes, but something triggered it and I remember what now... It wasn't the money being way way too tight... Or the new college classes.. It was a simple statement from someone very important to me! It was so hurtful at the moment but I excused it but now reflecting it changed me... It was a powerful statement based in my faith about overweight people and their value! Sitting here writing this I am tearing up!! When you already have value issues and are fighting daily to find your worth to be told you had no value was a blow! I sat there in awe of the statement! Here I had lost 60 pounds and had changed everything about my eating and preparing for the surgery and I have no value not worth living.. I now know this was a total envy statement and based in this persons own struggle with current weight loss.....but I feel like all I am doing is still excusing this encounter and now hurting myself with food. Each day has became a dreaded food battle that I am losing I have gained 8 pounds back!! I feel swollen from the process foods and my body hurts... I am noticing the longer I stay fallen down how extremely hard it is to get back up!!! I hope writing this and having this reflection will move me today to a new start!! Dealing with these demons before surgery I hope will help afterwards!!!
  17. Thank you guys so much! I am restarting slowly, got to find that motivation again.. I know it is there! This is always the point in my weight loss journeys I fall down and don't get back up! Life seems to come in and kick my butt!! I have made better choices for 3 days now still not as good as before but getting better everyday... I am almost to the finish line so got to hang in there!!!
  18. Loving life, I hope you are doing well and adjust to everything. I have had a hard week guess it is a fall down time. Since September I have been doing so good with my eating habits.. I have been eating like I was post operation and my NUT said she never met someone so determined to live this new life style. Well something happen last Thurs and I feel like I can't get back to where I was.... Made a horrible choice and ate a whole pizza.. To be honest I had never did that before!!! Then it just kept happening... All weekend... Bad choice after another!!! I know I am only pre-op but this is so not good... Got to get back up... But... Just can't find how!
  19. I wanted you to know how brave I believe you are for posting you photos.. I could put my head on your body and it would be me! I am still pre-op and have 2 more months of NUT appointments. I am excited to watch others change and reach goals because it gives me hope!!! Good luck
  20. Missi that is so great it is exciting to feel like your getting good news in this journey! Sounds like a more intense surgery I hope recovery will still be quick Sept will be here before you know it!!!
  21. That is so good Tip!!! Keep up your hard work!
  22. I am sorry you are going through this. I understand being my own worst advocate in life! For years I would lose just to gain back as soon as life threw me any curve ball! I found great comfort in food and liked that it was the one thing I could control! Even if it was bad for me!!! I found my weight hitting a high of 347 and was done justifying my behaviors by others actions or circumstances. So I made the leap of faith to pursue WLS. I was so worried to tell my family because I had always put on a front that I was fine with myself... I tried my own diet to only gain and lose the same 10 pounds until I met with my NUT. I would say she was send from God to teach me about eating! Since then I have lost 52 pounds in 4 months. I will not say it was easy it has been very hard with a lot of tears and fights with my will!!! I believe you have to come to a place that you are going to save yourself! Fight for you and only you! I believe you can do this!! If I can I promise you can!! I gave up my comfort (food) and am finding myself...and how to take care of myself because I am worth it! You are worth it too!
  23. Love love this thread! I am stealing the saying "not my circus not my monkeys"...I am going to use it often!!!! WLS is just a tool and like every tool you have to use it correctly to obtain the benefits. I am pre-op and am losing great amounts of weight during this 6 month diet. To the point of being asked if I felt I still needed the WLS(from family). I quickly replied yes I need this tool. Just like a cane you can walk without it but you limp and get tired, but when you use it correctly you can have normal steps and go longer and farther distance. That is what WLS is going to be to me, my tool to make myself have normal steps and go farther with my life and goals!!!
  24. Hw 347 Cw 298 Pre-op Back down from last Friday! Nothing's like losing same weight over and over!!
  25. I love my NUT. She is so helpful and knowledgable about her field!! I learn so much about the make up of food and how the body uses it and what for!! This knowledge helps me understand the new way if living and I wish I had this 20 years ago but not sure I would have listened!! You know when stuff Just falls in place and you have light bulb moments that is what is happening to me about my food choices!!! And eating habits!!
