  1. @@KristenLe O...M...G... thank you SOOOOO much!!!
  2. I'm trudging along on day 3 of my pre-op diet. I woke up today and i feel almost as if i have or am getting a cold, I'm achy, lethargic and just have that weird disconnected "i'm getting sick" feeling. A girl i work with said that what happens when you "cleanse" the system of toxins. Anyone else have this happen? I'm really afraid i'm getting the Flu and i don't want it to affect my surgery!
  3. @@Bill Yanez Thank you!!! I just sent you an email! @@FloraBama Girl Thank you very much!!! especially the tipping advice!
  4. Thanks @@FloraBama Girl !! I am having Sleeve surgery with Dr. Illan at on 8/23 (tues) and will be going home on 8/27 (sat). I'm taking the train down (i live near LA) and will be traveling solo...so i don't want to overpack because i'm going to have to handle my own bag...and believe me...i am the QUEEN of overpacking!
  5. I tried to do a search with reference to what to pack...none were specifically Mexico related. So, considering I'm less than 2 weeks away, what do I need to take with me and what if anything do they provide? How many changes of clothes? I know the all important LIP BALM is on my list of must haves! Thanks!
  6. Awesome!! Keep killin' it!!
  7. Its funny that you mention that because I had read a post where someone said that once you have this surgery coffee and tea is a no-no. i love coffee. love it. i can live without soda, but i hate the thought of giving up coffee (although i obviously will if i have to)...but i wondered WHY no coffee?? so actually, your post gives me hope!!
  8. AWESOME!!! Mr Doctor is Dr Illan too...I will be going in a few weeks. It's so nice to hear you are doing well...keep us updated on your progress. :-)
  9. Best wishes to you!!! Let us know how it goes. I'm heading down in a couple of weeks myselft. Thoughts and prayers to you...it will be just FINE! :-)
  10. I am having surgery on Aug 23 (tues) and planning to go back to work the following Monday (I can't take anymore time off work). Now, just for the record, i have a COMPLETELY sedentary job where i literally sit at a desk for 12.5 hours (no lifting, only 30 min for lunch and 2 15 min breaks). The doctor told me he really didn't think, due to the type of job I have, that there would be an issue. So i'm wondering...what is the soonest you all went back to work and how did it go? Were you up and puking a lot? Did you have to take a lot of breaks and walk around? Thanks!
  11. YAY!!! Keep us posted and let us know how you do! I have 3 weeks to go...the anticipation is getting GINORMOUS

  14. there are 5 stages of grief...anger denial depression bargaining and acceptance...not necessarily in that order. you will go thru all of those and feel a rollercoaster of emotions. plus, have you ever heard of the 8 week wait?? it takes that long for a womans oxytocin levels to go down(thats what makes us "bond"). its a real thing! (can you tell i too have had my heart trampled on?? lolol)
  15. My mom gave me some GREAT advice once... And its VERY true... It doesnt matter how wonderful a woman is, if a mans not ready hes not ready and no woman can MAKE him ready. He has to figure that out on his own. You are young, you have TONS of time, dont be with a man that wouldnt swim through shark infested waters to bring you a glass of lemonade! They ARE out there! It took me years but i found one. Take your time, enjoy life...enjoy living...he will come along when youre not even looking. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  18. SWEET!!! we will have be "sleeve buddies"!! its like thunder buddies only better!! hahahaha
  19. I am scheduled with Dr Illan on Aug. 23rd. I am doing it thru BariatricPal Team MX. I am about a 3 hour drive from San Diego which is why i was coming down the night before. Unfortunately my husaband cant get off work and my mother is way too frail to travel.
  20. As it turns out, I dont think my husband can make the trip to Tijuana with me so it looks as though I will be going by myself. I live outside of LA so will probably just take the train to San Diego cuz its probably not wise to drive home medicated! I guess I will stay by the airport the night before and just take a taxi to the pick up spot in the morning. Anyone else go down there by themselves?? I'm not at all worried about the care i will receive or even being solo in Mexico (LA is probably worse! Lol)...its just scary having surgery alone and far from home.
  21. And thank you @judanna77. That was very nicely put. Thank you everybody!
  22. I guess i was banking on the fact that after surgery i wont feel AS hungry or will feel full faster. But you are right... I will grow some balls.
  23. So i received my pre op diet instructions and im terrified!!! I have NEVER been able to fast or do a liquid diet for more than a day...HOW am i gonna do this for TWO WEEKS?!?! Im more afraid of this than the surgery itself! Any tricks you used to help get through... Or were there "light" foods you could eat to keep you satisfied (ie: sugar free greek yogurt)? This feels like i am about to climb Everest.
  24. I think about this all the time now... When I'm thin again...i look forward to.... - Wearing high heels again - Wearing boots! - Wearing Jeans!! (I havent worn those in 4 years) - Not always being out of breath - Being in a photograph (won't get my pic taken) - Not noticing yet again that i'm the largest person in the room - Not making sure that my arms are always covered. - Not having to catch my breath just walking up the stairs to go to bed How 'bout you guys??
  25. i don't know about you...but i feel the same way, not because my drive has decreased, but because i am so embarrassed of how i look i literally don't want him looking at me. if we DO "do it"...it's all about LIGHTS OFF! i am holding onto the belief, that as i lose the weight, i will begin to feel good about myself and feel sexy again and that will make all the difference in the world.
