  1. Wow, it's just as if I had written it myself! I, too, am in this sort of funk at the moment. I weigh less than 200 lbs for the first time in 18 years so I should be happy right?? I've discovered that despite losing my extra weight, life still sux ... the depression & unhappiness are still there and lately I've been an emotional wreck. Like you, I've analyzed my feelings and I'm pretty sure I know where it all stems from ... unfortunately I do not have medical insurance and can't afford to pay for a shrink out of pocket so I just keep dealing with it day by day
  2. I don't make a habit of eating cereal regularly but when I do it's 1/2 C cereal & 1/4 C milk :smile2:
  3. A couple weeks ago... Now ... I haven't had long hair since 3rd grade ... I am loving these extensions!
  4. I saw this thread last week and ordered myself the 23" wavy extensions ... Love them! Thanks for sharing Laura
  5. I've been struggling with these thoughts/feelings over the last few days and you have summed it up perfectly Beth. I guess going into this, I expected/anticipated everything to be different once I got to goal, or close to it. I guess I thought that losing weight was going to "fix" everything that I felt was wrong in my life, and that I would be happy. Don't get me wrong, I am "happier" than I was 125+ lbs ago and I am LOVING the new, smaller body (and clothes shopping has become fun again) but the fact of the matter is, I still feel alone. I didn't have many friends pre-band and the few that I had (who were overweight like myself) have stopped communicating with me ... My husband, who spent every waking hour while at home sitting on his ass playing Everquest online, still spends every waking hour while at home sitting on his ass playing Everquest online. I still have my down days, still deal with depression and I guess I need to do exactly what you said, address both the physical and the mental issues somehow ...
  6. LOVE  my Magic Bullet! I wish I had it right after surgery, would have made things alot easier instead of using the big bulky blender to puree such small amounts. :tongue2:
  7. I can TOTALLY relate!! Like you, I've had a hard time with allowing my mind to adjust or "catch up" to the rest of me. I see the number on the scale and it's far less than where I began but often times when I look in the mirror I still see me as the fat girl. As for the extra skin ... I can deal with the flabby tummy & thighs and I do miss my full breasts (as now they're just hangin' around like deflated balloons :w00t:) but my arms! OMG I hate my swingin' bat wings ... but I certainly don't let them prevent me from wearing cute little tops, the things I'd NEVER have worn before. I just remind myself of where I once was, where I am now and the fact that a little bit of extra skin is NOTHING compared to the extra 125+ lbs I was luggin' around before. :scared2: Be proud of yourself Laurinda ...
  8. Check out ~~> this thread <~~ for tons of protein shake recipes In addition to Unjury, there are also protein supplements (shakes) you can find at your local grocery store such as the Atkins brand and EAS brand. They come in packages of 4 cartons for about $7. I often use a carton of one of these when preparing a recipe in the above mentioned thread. My fav is mixing a carton of Vanilla w/ 2-3 T peanut butter and a packet or 2 of Splenda ... blend with ice and it makes a yummy peanut butter protein shake. :smile2:
  9. Haha! The vanilla Cherry one ... I've had this jar of cherries in my fridge for the longest time (hubby bought them) and there is only like 5-6 of them left and I've been telling him to finish them off already but he hasn't so tomorrow morning I'm using them (watch he'll eat them tonight :w00t:) ... then the next day I'm making the Butterscotch, then the strawberry Cheesecake ...
  10. Oohhh thanks for finding it Froggi! I am drooling just reading it  ... already picked one to make for Breakfast tomorrow
  11. I used the little packets of chicken broth powder, made by Wyler's ... another option would be to go to www.unjury.com and get their Chicken Soup flavored protein powder, that way you're getting some protein in. Congrats on your upcoming surgery and best of luck on your Lap Band journey!
  12. Check out ~~> THIS THREAD <~~ for ideas in each phase. Best of luck on your surgery and Lap Band journey!
