Surgery in 4 days and I am in a funk
Thanks. Deep down I feel confident I will be successful, it's the nagging part of me that doesn't show up. I think I just feel very alone in all this because really, I am. It's a battle I am going to have to fight I'm just feeling nervous. I'm sure I'll be fine, just feeling blah

Pre op shopping list
Any suggestions on what food items I need to have in my house for when I get home besides protein shakes and vitamins?

Surgery in 4 days and I am in a funk
Hi everyone, Well, my surgery is 8/7 and yesterday and today I just feel blah and kind of full of trepidation combined with denial. It's just a general funk. I am not sure what it's all about. I am afraid I will fail that is certain and I look at some posts on here with people failing a few months in after gastric bypass, it scares me more. I also feel unprepared but like I could never possibly be prepared. I feel anxious and really really quiet and distracted. Quiet is definitely weird for me. At this point, I'm hungry (this is day 7 of the pre op diet). I've lost 15.5 lbs on this ten day pre op diet but I feel really empty, both in my stomach and mentally. I don't know, maybe I just am lost without my food. I have a whole lot going on in my head but nothing really tangible. This is all very weird!

setting goals
that makes sense to me.

setting goals
I agree. I like setting my goals in my head as every five pounds so that I frequently hit my goal rather than really dwelling on the final number. It makes me feel good when I hit a goal so frequently.

pre op diet question
I'm probably drinking more than that. I am always thirsty and have always sipped all day long. So that part of this has been easy for me. But maybe I should up just clear water instead of so much crystal light. It's worth a shot anyway! Thanks!

setting goals
I hear that! I looked pretty good at 170 really, and, my doctor said to stop. Although right now it seems a mile away, it also seems like a big number. I'm going to stick with it though for now.

pre op diet question
No I don't think it's extreme it's just not pleasant. I'm on day 7. I have felt the worst days 4-7. I dont want food at all at this point but I dont feel good. I think it is the gigantic caloric decrease. I'll tell you, this would be one reason NOT to party at the buffet up to pre op diet day!

pre op diet question
Thanks Soccermom. It was beginning to concern me. It sucks because I have a ton to do but everytime I go to get up I feel like I"m going to fall down or throw up! I guess this is what happens when your body loses 15.5 pounds in 7 days!

setting goals
How are you guys picking your target weight? It's hard because normal weight charts are pretty much useless in this situation. I know from past experience that when you lose all this weight there is still extra weight from the loose skin. At 173 my doctor said I was done and not to lose more. That seems like such a high weight but really, I looked good at that weight! So, how do we pick a good goal? I'm guessing just set a higher weight and adjust accordingly? Ideas anyone?

protein shakes
Unjury is the winner and thank you guys for the ideas! I do like the chocolate splendor from unjury and also the chicken soup! The chicken soup is strong but I just add more water until it's closer to broth. Thanks so much everyone!

pre op diet question
Have any of you felt light headed or dizzy during your pre op diet? I feel light headed and a little nauseus. I know from my atkins days of low carbs that the nausea is normal, but light headed?

How long does laprascopic RNY surgery normally take.
I wonder if people are talking about how long they were gone from their family vs. actual OR time?

Pre-op diet I think I"m going thru the same stages as death & dying!
I've found unjury shakes and they aren't bad at all. The chicken soup one is a little strong so I add more water until it is more like broth. More water can't hurt!

Today is the day;)
Good luck!

Mine said about an hour also. Those three hour numbers were beginning to make me think my guy is taking shortcuts LOL.

protein shakes
I am liking the unjury protein shakes MUCH better than what I had. The chocolate splendor really is pretty good! I certainly wouldn't drink it if I wasn't on a special diet but it's not bad and I can easily get it down.

Does Bcbs Pays For Cosmetic Sx?
I had lost the weight myself and had a tummy tuck. Unfortunately I gained most the weight back Anyway, BCBS will pay for a tummy tuck automatically if you lose over 100 pounds. That was true for me, BCBS Western NY.

Diet coke & pre op diet
What I love about it is the crispness. You just dont get that in crystal light. Oh well, bye bye crispness!

Pre-op diet I think I"m going thru the same stages as death & dying!
That's what I was counting on but I actually feel by far the worse today, day 4. Tired, no energy, sick to my stomach and light headed. I just want to get to surgery and move all past this. Thank you guys for listening to me!
