  1. Kat, So glad to hear that the recovery is going so well and smoothly. It sounds like you are doing all the right things to speed this along. A big thumbs up to your DH too, for taking such excellent care of you :rolleyes2::thumbup::biggrin:!
  2. Salsa, I don't know how I missed your posts last night, I must have been writing at the same time you were posting! I definitely want to see the pic with the pants turned inside out -- you are too funny! :rolleyes2::biggrin::biggrin:
  3. Becky, You sound so excited and I am SO happy for you. You are a beautiful person and you truly deserve all of the exciting and wonderful things coming your way!!!!
  4. Stranger, You and I are on the same week. How's it going for you this week? Not too hot I hope???
  5. LOL Jody, I actually fogot that it's Memorial Day Weekend. Hello! Thanks for the reminder :cursing: I got another Couch to 5K session in tonight. Have a great night and a great Holiday Weekend everyone!
  6. Jody, Congratulations!!!! :blushing::thumbup::thumbup: Don't forget to change your signature!!!! You're nearly halfway there for the month and we still have 8 more days to reach our goal. I eat a South Beach Cereal Bar nearly every day, and when I'm traveling I sometimes have them for breakfast and lunch. They're pretty good and they fill you up too.
  7. Sigh, I definitely do miss the joys and conveniences of modern life sometimes....... BTW, I just realized I was wrong about the Lonesome Dove audio version I'm listening to -- it's not read by the author, the narrator is Lee Horsley. When I finish this book I'm going to try to find some others that he's narrated because he is superb!!!! I was in bed listening to my book last night, and actually woke my husband up because I was laughing so hard :blushing:!
  8. Hi, Great idea to remove it! It was distracting and rather meaningless since so many people didn't know how to use it. I'm one of those who never quite figured it out..............
  9. Steph I'm amazed at how many pounds of fat and skin they remove during surgery. You lost 6, Kat lost 12. I'm so glad you told me about this! Hi Lady Splenda, thanks for the feedback. Is everything okay now?
  10. Jody, Glad you like the website. I love it!!! And OMG am I ever enjoying Lonesome Dove! As if the characters aren't already funny enough, McMurtry's reading makes them laugh out loud hilarious!!! I told my husband that I will be sorry to see the book end -- he read it many years ago and loved it and told me that I definitely will. Cerrin I love PD James too!
  11. Becky LOL! Don't even go too crazy on clothes until a while after surgery because you might even drop down to a size six! What I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around is how I'm going to look after surgery. I mean, I think I am going to look like I've never looked (certainly the bust line will be infinitely more impressive than it has ever been). It's really hard to come up with a mental picture because even when I was in college and weighed 106 pounds, I still had little pooch of fat in my lower abdomen. So to think of a perfectly flat tummy well......to be honest, I'll believe it when I see it!!!! I am still not sure it's going to happen even though the Dr. claims it will :crying:. I did not book my flight because fares have gone through the roof with the price of fuel skyrocketing. It is well over $400 to fly to Miami and I have never paid that before. I will probably end up using frequent flyer miles. My husband is quite insistent on being there BUT, I'm being a little protective of his schedule. He's one of these people that always piles way too much on his plate, so I'm kind of sitting back to see what's happening with his schedule before I book his flight for him. Definitely he will be there for at least a few days, I think........ I'm excited for sure, but also getting just a wee bit nervous -- not so much about the PS, but more about the pain from the open myomectomy plus all the other things I'm having done. If I can rest comfortably, I'll be fine, but my concern is that I will be in pain and that I won't be able to rest either. But I guess there's no use worrying about it.
  12. Becky, Thanks for the concern -- you are always such a sweetheart :crying:! I did a 30 minute pilates/abdominals class and a one hour Yoga class. Have a great night everyone!!!
  13. Thanks for the feedback Kate, My Dr. does stunning breasts, I love the look of implants, and everyone I know who has silicone is extremely happy with them, so there's no doubt in my mind about any of these things. The only question mark in my mind at this point is the scarring. It was was therefore great to read what you thought about your friend's scar one year post-op. My breasts are small and they won't be made very much larger, because shape is far more important to me than size. (Although I am going to go up one cup size to a small "C" because there is just no way I am paying thousands of dollars for a "B" cup -- it just isn't a good "value" :rolleyes2:.) My Dr. told me that he will be doing the anchor, but I'm hoping that since my breasts are not very large (or even very droopy), that he will be able to minimize the size of the incision and the scarring. If anyone else has any feedback regarding the anchor incision and scarring, I would be happy to hear more.
  14. Kendra, what fabulous news!!!! I agree with everyone else -- your incredibly positive attitude kicked the living S#!t out of that nasty old tumor. It couldn't have been happy anyhow being around such a lovely and positive person such as you -- good riddance!!! Happy, happy, happy dance!!!! :rolleyes2::target::bananapowerslide::bananapowerslide::bananapowerslide::bananapowerslide::bananapowerslide::bananapowerslide::bananapowerslide::bananapowerslide:
  15. Well, I'm going to give myself a little pat on the back tonight. It is the worst part of my TOM (TMI for all of you probably sorry ), AND I had a horrendous toothache (not sure what's up with that, need to see the dentist tomorrow) BUT, I still did my Couch to 5K session! Becky, you are going to have one pretty garden to look at while you're recovering! Have a great night everyone!
  16. Well, as you know Becky I haven't had my surgery yet, (I'll be just one day behind you girlfriend ) so this is my best guess. When I was talking about doing my LBL all at once, my Dr. told me that it would take 4-6 hours, with just him alone and no medial thigh lift -- so your Dr.'s estimate sounds pretty much in line with the info I got. I have no idea how long my surgery will take now with the new game plan, but I am keeping my fingers crossed that it won't take as long as it took to get the two Dr.'s schedules together !
  17. Okay, I'm going to spend about two seconds responding to this legal "stuff", and then I'm done with that subject completely. I know a lot of doctors and a lot of lawyers and it is truly not the case that "all successful doctors have a lawyer on retainer." Why on earth should they? (Unless of course they anticipate and/or have the need for legal services on a very regular basis). Bottom line is this..... It is just not cool (or nice) to sit around on a message board threatening lawsuits, and honestly in the nearly one year that I have been on this board, this is the first time I have encountered something like this. But back to the original question.... Chubbychaser, if I were you, I would just start over from square one with a new doctor. I think it's really very hard for us to speculate about anything in any meaningful way here. However, one thing I am pretty certain of is this, if you had a leak, you would not be holding any Fluid in your band at all for very long. The band does have a semi-permeable membrane so you will lose small amounts of fluid over time, but if you had a leak you would lose all of the saline within a relatively short period of time. Go talk to a new Dr. and he/she will help you figure this out. There's also Dr. Stephanie (the last name escapes me right now, but I will try to do a search on this board for her name) in the Houston area. Good luck!
  18. Thank you so much for the info Dr. Schulman. My Dr. told me that he would need to use an anchor incision and it's good to have confirmation that any other type of an incision is probably not an option for me given my circumstances. I'm sure nobody wants to have the anchor incision unless it's necessary, and it sounds like it is necessary for me. Thanks again for the feedback !
  19. Hi Luluc, That was an awesome response to a not-very-nice and extremely, heavy-handed post directed to someone who is obviously stressed out by a situation that they have spent a lot of time and money trying to resolve. A little empathy and kindness was definitely in order here, even if that person didn't agree with what the OP was saying. For the record, slander is an untruthful oral statement, so Chubbychaser cannot be sued for "slander." Anyhow, moving on............. Chubbychaser, I would find another Dr. to take a look at your band under flouro with a barium swallow. I know that Dr. Jorge Rincon in San Antonio will work with patients that are not his own and I believe there is a Dr. Garwood in College Station will too. Good luck!
  20. LOL Steph and Kate Wow, doesn't sound like fun though, and I hope the hormones get back to normal soon, Steph! I'm having GYN surgery along with my plastic surgery, so it sounds like I better start stocking up on soy now. I'll be in Florida, encased in compression garments in the June heat, so I can't even imagine what it would be like if I started getting hot flashes too......
  21. Hi Dr. Schulman, I have a question for you, when you are doing a breast lift with silicone implants, is there a particular type of incision that you find yourself using more frequently using than others? If so, what would that be? Jachut, I wonder why implants double the cost of this surgery in Oz? That's definitely not the case here in the US. My silicone implants are adding 2K to the price of the surgery, and if I had gone with saline, it would have been 1K.
  22. Hi BBK, Your tummy tucks looks amazing -- it's perfect! I have read that certain type of incisions for the breasts (i.e., those that cause less scarring) can cause puckering in the early stages. It's a good trade off in the end because the puckering settles down as you heal, and you end up with less of a scar. Therefore, it is probably too early to worry much about the breasts. The shape and size are great!
  23. Kat, So glad to hear that it all went well, and that you're doing very well. Keep resting and getting better and we look forward to hearing from you soon! :wink2::smile::smile:
  24. Has anyone mentioned audiobooks yet? I love, love, love my having my iPod for audio books because unlike the "old days," when all we had was CD's, or tapes, I can listen to my books anytime, anywhere. Many a tedious workout (and wait in line, and flight, etc.) has gone by quickly with the help of a good story. audible.com audio books has a great selection of audio books at fairly reasonable prices if you sign up for one of their pre-paid plans. Right now, I'm listening to Lonesome Dove, read by the author Larry McMurtry. I know this is a very old book, but I've never gotten around to reading it. I'm actually glad that I'm listening to it because McMurtry is an incredibly entertaining reader.
  25. Molly, how's everything going? I hope you're feeling better, and please post an update when you can. I did one hour of cardio and one hour of weight training (arms/upper body) today. Have a great night everyone!
