  1. Yes I also had dr Coates, great dr. So nice and will go out of his way to check on you. I was not able to keep anything down the day after surgery. And he said my stomach was probably irritated and swollen. Then the next day I was fine and had no problems. I'm 11lbs down since surgery date and doing great. Good luck to you. I am in Stockton. Off of bianchi and march lane. If you want to text me u can. My number is 209 9815784. Call or text if you want to talk. My name is Renee.
  2. My surgery was scheduled for 1:30, I had to be there 2 hours early. I had no blood tests. They had me change into a gown and slippers. The nurse hooked up my I.V. Then they took me to the surgery floor. And they have me a little patch that went behind my ear to help keep me from being nauseated after surgery. Then they got a call that my surgeon was stuck on another surgery in another hospital so they took me to my room that I would go to after surgery. That was fine my family was there and I got to watch TV. Then we got a call that it would be closer to 4:30. At almost 5 my surgeon got there and they wheeled me back to surgery. Took me into the operating room and next thing I knew I was getting a mask put on my face and I was waking up in my room. No pain. First day was hell though. My stomach was swollen so I couldn't have anything by mouth. If I did it was thrown up immediately. So first day was all I.V. Then Thursday I was able to take my liquids but not as much as I was supposed to. Then Friday I was right on track and they let me go that evening. I have not had pain other that throwing up so I think I'm doing pretty good. I was up the next day after surgery walking all over.
  3. You will do great. Good luck to you. Relax. Pretty soon you will be on the losers bench. You will be in good hands.
  4. I am 6 days post op. on all clear liquid diet. No pain. I haven't had any pain at all. I was very uncomfortable the first day post op. my pouch was swollen and I could not take any thing by mouth. Everything that went in. Came out plus more. Dr said that sometimes happens because your body is extra sensitive to all the cutting and stapling. So for the rest of that day everything was through the I.V. By Thursday I was better but scared to take too much by mouth because I didn't want to throw up. By Friday I was taking in what I should and Dr released me that night. I have been doing great. I have no drain. One of my incisions is leaking but the others are almost all healed already. Tomorrow is my post op 1week surgeon visit. So hopefully I move to blended foods. Hope everyone is doing great. Renee
  5. I have been trying. I seem to enjoy the chicken noodle soup once everyone eats everything out of it and its just the broth left. And my water.

  7. I had my surgery Tuesday August 6th at 1:30. Well my surgeon was late so I didn't get in to surgery till almost 5. I don't remember anything after bing wheeled into the O R, I remember all the nurses after trying to take care of me. But mostly sleeping till Wednesday morning. My nurse was trying to get me to drink my liquids. And I was trying but everything I took in I threw up and then some. They had to give me everything by I.V. I couldn't keep ANYTHING down. The surgeon came in later on Wednesday and told me that I was probably all swollen. And my saliva was filling my pouch. And anything else I put in was overflowing it. So for the rest of Wednesday I took nothing by mouth. Then Thursday I was scared to try to swallow anything but I took a couple of spoons of broth and sips of water and it stayed down. But I wasn't taking as much as they wanted so the kept me for another day. I had no other pain. None of my incisions were painful and I had no gas pains at all. I was up everyday walking all over the hospital. Didn't have pain when i got up or sat down. My nurse came in and took out my staples on friday afternoon, i had 19 all together. Put some sterile strips on them and dr prescribed me my meds and now i am home and doing just fine.
  8. Just got home from hospital about an hour ago. I went in Tuesday afternoon. Was supposed to be in surgery at 1:30 but dr was finishing another pt in another hospital. I finally go out of surgery around 8 Tuesday night. Wednesday was a bad day for me. Anything I drank I threw up and then some. I spoke to my dr and he said to just do the Iv for awhile because my stomach was all bruised and swollen. So I did not try any more liquids that day. Then Wednesday it was so much better. I have not thrown up again and I have no pain. My cuts just itch alot. Other than the throwing up, I feel great. Highest weight 360. pre surgery 313, after surgery 329.

  16. Oh my goodness. That would be nerve racking. I kinda felt the same way. I had started looking into wls back in 2008. And went to the primary care doctor I was seeing back then and asked him about referring me, well he told me because I had no co-morbidities that it would not be approved and he did not see any reason to refer me to A surgeon. So I had basically given up on it till earlier this year my friend, who has the same insurance, went in for her surgery. I talked to her and she told me exactly what to do and who to talk to and, god bless her, she has lost over 100 lbs and just had her sleevectomy on feb. 14, I got everything started in May of this year. So when I went to my new primary care physician, I kept thinking she was gonna say no, but instead she told me she thinks I am making a great decision and that I am a perfect candidate for wls. And she gave the referral to the wls surgeon. That was a huge relief. But I can't say I actually thought it was really gonna happen till I got the insurance approval. Now I'm excited and getting a little nervous. Just a little. But I can't wait! Thank you for the well wishes and if I don't talk to you again, good luck to you on the 8th. It will b here before you know it.
  17. Jetson, Until I got the approval I kept thinking it wasn't going to happen. Something was gonna go wrong. And insurance would say no. My insurance approved the surgery the same day it was submitted. I went yesterday and did my pre admission tests and filled out the forms. My surgeon wasn't there so I have to go back Thursday afternoon for that visit and get final instructions on diet and so what for final days bfor surgery. And Monday is surgery date!! So excited. And a week from tomorrow u will be going for yours, so excited for you. I totally know how you feel. :}
