  1. Thank you, that is a great read!
  2. It is hard, but adding 10-15 years to life is a great payoff. I try to remember that along with other things. Take care and I know you can do it!
  3. Don't be afraid, just be informed. I did it 5 weeks ago, and I've lost 42 pounds. I'd do it again, but be aware the first 2 weeks are tough, but you can do it!
  4. Good info. Thank you. No stomach cancer in my family, thankfully.
  5. I'll say a prayer for you. Stay strong, you can do it!
  6. Hi, I agree the cleanse isn't fun at all. I'm 5 weeks out now, and I'm feeling good. I won't lie the first two weeks I did some crying. My best advise is, do exactly what your doctor tells you to do. Stick with the allowed foods. I'm down 47 pounds already. I had my surgery at Centennial, where are you having yours and when? I wish you all the best! Stay in touch, I am glad I did it, but that doesn't mean it's been easy. Centennial is one of the strictest programs, but I'm glad! Take care!
  7. Yes, I understand the function of the stomach, but how would you know if it became diseased? I guess there would be symptoms.
  8. I'm from Nashville, I had surgery April 1st. Dr. Olsen at Centennial was my surgeon. He's very very good. First month, down 45 pounds. Good luck to you both, stay In touch!
  9. How do you know that your old stomach stays healthy? What are the odds for cancer? My surgery has been done, but this is on my mind.
  10. That's great, I wish you all the best. It will be worth it!
  11. Thanks for the positive reinforcement! I really appreciate it. I so want to get healthy again. Most of my life I was thin, then my back went out along with both my feet. Boy when I started gaining, I really gained. I'm looking forward to life more now. I intend to be very active here. Thanks again!
  12. Hi, I had GERD so bad my surgeon said no way he'd do the sleeve on me. I'm now in my 5th week post-op with RNY and my GERD is gone, and I'm down 45 pounds. It's tough the first couple weeks but it does get better!
  13. Hi everyone I'm new to the forum. I thought long and hard before I had the RenY done. My surgery was April fool's day this year. I had a tough recovery because I don't tolerate pain meds well, so I stopped them the day after surgery. I also have a severe panic disorder and crushing 8 pills at night is tough, but Walden Farms sugar free chocolate syrup saved my life once I got home. First 2 1/2 weeks were hellish. I'm feeling much better now though. I have lost 45 pounds in the first month. I am 6 feet tall and did weight 305. I know I'm just into a new month, but I haven't lost any in a few days. I do my very best to get my 60 grams of protein in, and I love water so most days I have no trouble drinking 64 oz. I can't eat very much and am probably consuming 450-500 calories a day. Do y'all think I am on track? Should I worry when a few days go by with no weight loss? I am walking, but I do have planters fasciitis so most days it's 30 minutes. I am buying a recumbent bike to help me out. Thanks for your input and for being available! Meg
