  1. Did day 3 of Week 2 today  It was pretty tough - we had a cold front come in and the wind was awful outside. It made the run so much harder!
  2. My doc recommended bypass as well. I told him what my weight loss goal was. Based on statistics he said I wouldn't achieve that with the lap-band that I needed the bypass. The bypass wasn't an option for me because I really wanted to leave my insides intact  I have surpassed what he said I could achieve w/ the band and I plan to make it to my goal. I wish you the absolute best in making your decision. Only you can know what is best for you :myscared: wombat
  3. the hair plucking thing is a new one for me - well not so new. I had lasiks surgery about 5 years ago. All the build up from the drops would get on the lashes and I would pluck it off daily. Now, I cannot stop pulling on my eyelashes. I can pull out 3-4 at a time. I have gaps in my eye lashes. I use to have lovely thick and long lashes. Why can't I stop doing this again?
  4. I've told anyone who asks about my weight loss. I don't claim to have done it on my own. Before the surgery I told a couple of close friends and family.
  5. sounds like you are lucky to be alive!!! Glad you've been released though. Can you supplement with Protein shakes to up your calories rather than an unfill? The whole idea of unfilling scares me - like I can really gain all my weight back in a few weeks lol. hope your recovery continues to go well wombat
  6. I know my weightloss has greatly slowed down in the last 2.5 months. I was losing my 10pounds a month and then I lost 5 pounds in 2 months. I'm just now starting to lose again. I rechecked my diet and started exercising (finally). I know the closer you get to goal the harder it becomes - but then each pound packs a bigger punch too (right?).
  7. Way to go Mystic!!! Suzziee - chocolate truffles ?!?!! yummmmmmmm - what a way to go  Yep - Monday it is!

  9. Hang in there - it truly does get better  Once you start getting fills the weight will start melting off
  10. Definitely something is up with him. It would be good to talk and find out what's bothering him, what he expects to happen after you have surgery and so on. Good luck to you - hugs wombat
  11. It's hard to say because we're all so different. I didn't get hungry until week 3. I was more scared of eating than I was hungry. I didn't want to hurt the band. Make sure you are eating really slowly. Listen to your body on the soft signals that you are getting full. Some of us hiccup, sigh, burp, have shoulder pain, golfball feeling / tightness in chest, and/or runny nose. I have had each of these signals at different times but mostly I will sigh or burp signaling it's time to quit. A hiccup tells me that I had one bite too many along with the golfball feeling.
  12. I've been wanting to see this movie  I want to travel to Italy, France and London. I'll have to really think of what else I would like to do ...
  13. In the beginning I would only try to eat one egg and sometimes not finish that. Now I usually get two eggs but I still don't finish it. I have trouble eating Breakfast more than other meals.
  14. welcome Kathy!!! Good luck on fill #4  My fourth gave me the longest restriction - lasted about 2 months. I'm going back next week for #5. Hugs and prayers for everyone tonight!! Happy Friday!! wombat
  15. yes - be careful with gum after the band! I still chew some a little bit but only half a piece and only until the flavor is gone. I carry breath mints now  But before the band it is very effective to stop snacking! Especially when you are cooking or cleaning up the kitchen - pop a piece of gum in. Whatever you are wanting won't taste good with a fresh minty mouth
  16. I got the highlights to hide my scalp as well  I've been using the head and shoulders mentioned above. My hair loss stopped at that point but only the very front at the bangs is growing back - so far. I have lots of little sprigs of hair right in the front (little hard to hide). I can't wait to have them sticking up on the top of my head! wombat
  17. Ghost you are more than welcome to join us on Monday (where DID all the smilies go???) I'm looking forward to it; I've got to get away from wanting sugar and chips!! YIKES!
  18. lol - I'm gonna have to go watch Madagascar tonight to see that part It's been awhile since I've seen it but your post made me giggle so now I'm gonna hunt down the movie.
  19. Thanks y'all!! That's a lot of info
  20. Yep - so I'm technically losing weight because my clothes are looser but the scale doesn't show a weight loss because I gained muscle.
  21. I was thinking about SB as well. I don't have the book/guidelines. Can someone post the phases?
  22. I gave up my addiction to diet coke (of 18yrs) 2 weeks before I got the band. I didn't want to deal with withdrawal and the band at the same time. I haven't had one since then. My doc does not recommend any carbonation.
  23. Works for me I don't eat much fruit but bananas are certainly filling. I have to buy the mini bananas and I still can't eat a whole one. So shakes, water and fruit it is!!!!! woohoooo!!! I already warned DH - looks like the fam will be foraging or having sandwiches
  24. Welcome Ashley You have done FANtastic since getting banded!!! Candy - so glad you can get in for fills!! Some people have to wait months. I can get in usually within a couple of day. However, I have to drive 4.5 hours to get there  It's my busy season at work so I have to choose carefully. I'll be going next week to get snugged up - come oooooon weight loss UGAGIRL - what a blessing to have a Christian doc as well!! I can only imagine the peace that comes with knowing the doc is also relying on God! Hugs & Prayers, wombat
  25. way to go whosya!!!!! BTW - Great accomplishment getting the "nod" from the experienced crowd  Right now I feel like people are looking at me like "yeah, you need to be running".
