Fabulous February Post-Op's

6 months out tomorrow. My surgery was on Valentines Day. I'm down 110 pounds, only lost 10 pounds in the last month and a half. I'm at a real stall. I try not to panic because it seems pretty normal to stall pretty hard right about now. I'm amazed at my ability to move with such ease after shedding so much weight. I actual lit have fun exercising, it doesn't hurt to do healthy things. On the day I had surgery I weighed in at 356, today I am 246. I have a ways to go and still hard work ahead but I'm getting it done!!! It's been bumpy along the way, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. I also have a cute hair-do. So much of my hair fell out. I had to do something. I try to eat as much veggies as I can. I eat nutrient dense foods. Not so much meat. I eat salmon mostly. I've even tried some raw foods recipes.

I have lost almost half of my hair. Getting a short cut tomorrow. My hairdresser said I can probably grow it out after a year or so. It sucks, but I knew it would happen. I even take biotin, to no avail.

    Fabulous February Post-Op's

I am about a week shy of being five months post op RNY. I have lost exactly 100 lbs since surgery date. Yesterday was not good and has me scared. I took my two kiddos to the movies and I nibbled on a a small popcorn and ate the whole thing. I also had a couple of licorice vines. I didn't get sick, but I haven't done that since surgery and it has me worried. I have tried to justify its by saying it was better than a large popcorn and an entire box of red vines. I was just so disappointed in myself. The process up to this point has been so difficult and I'm really seeing the results now. I don't want to compromise my success in any way. It made me realize that I can't wing it where food is concerned. I have to plan my snacks. If I would have had some string cheese and apple slices in my bag I wouldn't have had the popcorn and licorice. It was a lesson learned.

My baby tummy loves salad. Mixed greens with balsamic vinagrette. Shrimp, cucumber, boiled eggs!! I'm so excited. I'm also loving hummus. Anyone else enjoying that? And, I've been carrying those 100 calorie packs of almonds. They are helping me when I'm out and about and need something quick. Those packs are a good size for a snack. My surgery date was February 14, I had RNY and I'm down 83 pounds!!!

    Fabulous February Post-Op's

I am taking my vitamins. Not B12 though. Now this is my weird story with B12: For several years I have struggled to keep my B12 levels above 400, I was only able to do this with weekly injections. (This is pre surgery). So most people after weight loss surgery have trouble with B12 and take a supplement or get injections regularly. I believe it's the most common deficiency post operatively. My last B12 injection was the first week of February, my surgery was on February 14th. 10 days post op I had my labs drawn and my blood serum B12 level was 1200. At 8 weeks post op my blood serum B12 levels were 1700. NO B12 INJECTIONS SINCE BEFORE SURGERY. also oral supplements. No b12 in my vitamins, protein bars or anything. This is baffling me. My providers (surgeon. PCP) don't seem to mind at all. I am needless to say very puzzled. I am still not doing injections (obviously) nor taking oral supplemental. I will have my levels retested again in a few weeks and see what it looks like. Anyone had this happen to them or even heard of such a bizarre thing? I know there are some medical folk on this board. Looking for similar stories and ideas.

I only manage about 500 calories per day. I am able to drink water easily, but I am struggling with protein. Only getting 60-75 grams per day.

Has anybody tried these. They are so delish!!!!! 13 grams of protein and only 5 grams of sugar. And, so yummy. They taste like wafer cookies. They come in Peanut Butter, Vanilla, and chocolate flavors. I buy them at Walmart.

I don't really have a recipe. Just make it up from my head. I usually use veggies that I have on hand (carrots broccoli cabbage snow peas ) then I use shrimp chicken or pork. I use brown rice instead of white. I season to taste.... onions garlic soy sauce fish sauce sometimes I throw in dried seaweed. That's all just simple. I use ingredients that are on hand since season to taste.
