  1. My son and daughter-in-law gave me the cookbook "Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery" for Christmas. I made a couple of the soups today, pureed them, and have them freezing in ice cube trays. I was really excited because they tasted really good, even pureed. The cookbook indicates how and when each recipe can be eaten (weeks 1-4, 1/2 cup pureed). I then went back and looked at the info that my nutritionist gave me and the only thing that is mentioned is protein. Am I allowed to have anything in addition to the protein? One soup has onions, garlic, mushrooms, and broth. The other one has ginger, jalapeno, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and broth.
  2. All of my children and grandchildren were home for Christmas this year and that also meant a lot of food. As I prepare to be on the pre-surgery diet, I decided to take a big step. I had one of my daughters-in-law take everything that wasn't WLS diet friendly. My cupboard and fridge are pretty bare, but I feel good about it.
  3. I am scheduled for surgery in February. The surgeon requires the protein shake diet for 2 weeks prior. This is supposed to result in at least 15 pounds being lost and a healthier liver for surgery. If I don't lose 15 pounds, surgery is cancelled. I know how weight loss resistant I am. Can I start the shake diet mid-January to give myself a better shot?
