  1. I'm 29 and I have degenerative disc disease and bulging discs in the L4, L5 and S1 areas. I also have fallen arches in my feet related to obesity, also affecting my back. I got so fat and lazy that I didn't even know who I was anymore. I am always in pain, which causes me to be short. I have 2 beautiful little girls, 6 and 12 months. I started to see my 6 year old acting just like me, in good ways and bad. I saw her picking up my bad habits. I saw myself being short with her. After my second epidural injection in my spine I just decided I had enough. This is crazy. If I don't lose this weight now, I'll be a very sick disabled person by the time I'm 40!!! I'm changing for myself, but mostly my family. It's not too late, so here I go!!! Surgery is 10/8, my highest weight was 276. Currently 259.
  2. Congrats!!! Just make sure to be pro-active, get all of ur pre-op stuff done as fast as you can, and you'll be there in NO time!!
  3. Thanks. I guess I'm super sensitive to this because this happened to me before. I was all ready to submit to insurance and I found out I was pregnant. My little Scarlett was born 9/5/14 and she is the BEST, most BEAUTIFUL little angel!!! ????????????❤️ But I don't want it to happen again, just not right now!!!!
  4. Thanks, still nothing. I'm concerned tho because I haven't had surgery yet, it's in roughly 10 days.
  5. So, I'm on my 2week pre-op liquid diet, but my period never exactly came last week! I told them at my pre-op appointment a few days ago, and they didn't say much but they did draw bloods. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. My cycle tends to run late, but this is freaking me out! A friend said it could be stress related. I'm wondering if I should call my OB and get an appointment, or should I just call my surgeon first? Idk what to do?
  6. So, I just ordered pumpkin spice and English toffee to get me started. Thanks for the tip!!! ????????
  7. Wow, thanks all!!! I feel so much better knowing that I'm not alone. It's hard to find the right ppl to talk to about this because I have found that people are so opinionated. Many have preconceived notions about what this surgery is all about, and although I'm not ashamed of my choice, I chose not to explain and defend it to everyone I talk to.
  8. I start my 2 week pre-op liquid diet tomorrow, and surgery is on 10/8/15. Up until this moment I have been very excited and anxious. But as this day gets later, and evening sets in, I am starting to feel like it's the last night of my regular life as I've known it for 29 years. I'm feeling very emotional, and somewhat anxiety ridden with what's ahead. I am more then ready, been contemplating and researching this for many years. I guess I'm just feeling like my new changed life starts tomorrow morning, and I'm almost mourning my old life. Has anyone else experienced a flood of emotions like this before surgery? I'm also really nervous about how I'll feel the night before and the day of surgery. How did you control your emotions and stay rational? Thanks
  9. I was given a tentative date of Oct 5th while waiting for approval. One thing I can say- is be persistent! I kept calling my insurance company to see if my Dr's office had submitted, and finally called my Dr's office and raised hell. The squeaky wheel gets the grease!
  10. HW: 276 CW: 263 Bypass Surgery Date: 10/5/15 5'5 I'm curious if anyone has had bypass who has similar stats. I'm curious about it all: How fast did u lose? Problems w/ loose skin? Any complications? Please share pics!!! My date is coming soon!! Thanks!!
  11. My surgeon is the Director of Bariatric Surgery for Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia, and has performed thousands of Bariatric surgeries. He was even featured in an article done by ABC news. He sat down with me and asked ME what I wanted to have done. Of course I asked what his recommendation would be for me, and he said that bypass is generally more successful. Many people are very successful w/ the sleeve, while others end up getting revisions done, choosing finally, RNY. Point being- don't feel forced into ANYTHING. This is YOUR life, YOUR body. Research your doctor. Make an informed decision. Don't let ANYONE bully you into anything. Good luck!
  12. Ugh I'm going thru this right now! I lost 14lbs before submitting to insurance and getting my date of Oct. 5th for surgery. After that last weigh in, I started "cheating," or allowing myself to eat foods that I really won't ever eat again, because they are unhealthy. So far in the last 2 weeks, I have had pizza, Chinese, a turkey hoagie, and threw my daughter a 1st birthday party and indulged. Well, now I am up 5lbs!!! I'm feeling really low about it, but I know that I'm starting my pre-op liquid diet soon, and I'll lose that weight again in no time. I guess it's really my last hoorah. ???? pathetic, I know.
  13. Ohh, I see- duh!! Lol!! I'm waiting waiting on insurance w/ a tentative date of 10/5
  14. They told me 2 weeks ????
  15. My Dr said Horizon BCBSNJ is usually really good, and they don't give problems. I'm still waiting for my surgeons office to submit paperwork. My last appt was 2 days ago. Waiting, waiting, waiting......
  16. I'm currently pre-op waiting on approval from insurance. Hoping to have surgery ASAP by Dr. Dallal at Einstein Medical Network in East Norriton, PA. Anyone have any experience here? Thanks ????
  17. Uh oh. I have heard mixed reviews. Some have said that they are wonderful....
  18. Anyone have any experience w/this insurance company? Waiting for approval/denial.....
  19. I have an appointment on Friday with Dr. Dallal, but I havnt exactly picked a Dr for surgery. He was the first available, so I went with him. I met him recently at an orientation and I thought he was really nice. I'm so excited and nervous all at the same time! I just hope everything works out ok with my insurance. I have Horizon BC/BS of NJ. How are u doing with the big change? I'm nervous that I will miss eating food! Lol!! I wish u the best of luck, and hopefully ill be in your shoes sooner then later!
  20. Mommy327 I am in the suburbs of Philly. I will be having my surgery at Einstein as well! Who was your DR? I am at the beginning. I have started a 6 month pre approval diet, and my first consultation is this Friday in Elkins Park. Any advice? :-)
  21. Hi! I am brand new to this too. Already had my seminar, and now I am awaiting an appt. with my family doctor to start a 6 month physician assisted diet program as required by my insurance company. At first, I was really disappointed that I would have to wait longer for my surgery, but I am happy either way to get the ball rolling in the right direction. I have to lose weight anyway, and I have to start somewhere! So tired of yo-yo dieting, and ready to start a new life!! Good luck to you!
