  1. QUOTE: "I have done the lemonade "master cleanse" roughly 4 times the first time ever I went for 21 days losing 28 lbs. eventually I believe it lead to my gull bladder / stones. I also didn't have insurance at the time so I put off going to the hospital for a week longer than what I should have. Well massive infection janduce and emergency sergury sched for the next day." YIIKES! That's scary! Well, I understand more now about the liquid diet, it needs the Protein, and to shrink the liver. So no lemonade diet! (why does my liver need to shrink?) The program I'm in didn't require weight loss, however, exercise is a must! (I'm still working on that one!) my last month will be the liquid diet, to include 2 wks of Clear Liquids. Then the same thing in reverse after.. 2wks clear liquid, then into the thicker liquid. Thanks everyone for the comments & advice!
  2. Well, that helps.. I was cocerned that my lymphatic system may be compromised with the surgery. Sounds like it helps the situation after! I wonder if anyone tried the Lemonade Diet (fresh squeezed lemons, good grade B maple syrup & cayenne pepper) during the liquid diet.. I did it 2 yes ago for 10 days, lost 18#, had energy like mad! (who gets up @5a.m & starts to clean the house?) I wanted for nothing, no food, and was very content with what I had. (worked as a hostess @ supper club & even all those plates of food couldn't get me to cheat) Could that fly for the liquid diet? Oh.. And my edema disappeared. The Lemonade diet is more of a total body cleanse, not just a colon cleanse... But, eventually you have to "eat" again.. Then I had trouble . My love-hate relationship with food! Thanks for your replys! Dawn
  3. Just a question... I have had an ongoing problem with pitting edema in my lower legs.. Years.. My concern is, that if it's a problem with my lymphatic system, will the WLS have any "pros" or "cons" with that problem? I realize this is a life / body changing surgery.. I don't want to compromise my lymph system more than it is now.. Anyone have similar issuses? I have a sit-down job, 40 hrs a week. I am aware of sodium intakes responsibility in the mater, my physical activity is not much (I KNOW!!).. my Water intake could improve..... Thanks in advance, Dawn
  4. "I would be carefull how much energy u are expending at this point. Yes u want to lose some before surgery but you will also develop issues if your burning huge amounts of calories and not getting much nutrition in." My thinking exactly! Kind of like entering a car race, taking off full throttle and running out of gas part-way through. Need more fuel and less expenditures from your system before it's prepared. HOWEVER, you CAN do this, just be balanced, silly-one! You aren't on a 'crash-diet'. Those days are over.. Time to readjust the thinking process too. It's all a learning process.. We ALL need those re-adjustments, you aren't alone. Dawn
  5. my surgery is Aug 3rd. Joe, Wow.. Just a few days away... I don't even have a date yet and I'M nervous! Nobody said it would be easy.. (easy to do, nor easy to decide..). At this point you must be anxious/nervous... But I wish you the best in your next Life's Adventure! I'm going with this plan; I spent the first 48 tears of my life doing what I wanted; I'll spend the next 48 BEING the person I want. JUST DO IT! Dawn ;D
  6. Liquid diet.. I've done individual days here and there to see how I will manage when the time comes to do this every day for a month. What I notice is that mid morning and mid afternoon I'm exhausted! I could fall asleep at my desk talking to someone! It's awful! I'm drinking Body Fortress which is a protein pdr. Sometimes I drink 2 servings at a time. Not only do I become exhausted, but I get jittery and sometimes nauseous. (yes, I still drink black coffee. 2-3 cups in the a.m.) Has anyone else had this problem? I also use my c-pap @ night. Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Dawn
  7. So youre about 2 hrs from me. Have you already had surgery? Where did you, or will you have surgery done? I'm going to Marshfield Clinic, in Mfld.
  8. Oh, I called the Drs office today to schedule surgery! You all have encouraged me SO much, I don't want to wait till the end of September!
  9. Hi Lynn, I'm from no. Wi too. Where are you? Dawn
  10. Northern Wisconsin! Minocqua area!
  11. Thanks! I'm still a few months pre-surgery, hoping for end of September. Maybe the reality hasn't hit me yet.. I didn't do very well with my 6 months of Dietary counseling. I've gotten so fed up with diets, that i haven't taken this 100% serious YET. Doing my research & learning what to expect- but i might just be somewhat blind sided the day of surgery. This may sound crazy, and correct me if i'm on the wrong course... but im likening this to a person in an accident.. they wake up in the hospital & maybe they've lost a limb... they need to do rehab & learn how to live their life in a different way.. being forced to. or refuse to & live a very unhappy life. i want to be the person who is determined to make the change, go with the 'rehab' and struggles, but come out in the long run a winner. Today i don't feel like a winner, because I KNOW what to eat, what to avoid, what to buy, what to stay away from.. but.. do i do it? not everytime... but if i don't now...in September it will be a must! I'm 48 next month, i have 3 grandsons; 5 months - 4 years old. i want the second 1/2 of my life to be healthy and happy.. Can i do this? I CAN...if i can get the mind set & take that first step... this is more of a mind game than a weight loss problem! What did YOU do, pre-surgery, when the reality of the seriousness of surgery hit you? Dawn
  12. Hi.. Quick question.. When you are on the liquid diet, can you make Protein smoothies & add fruit or sugar free puddings...etc? If it's all blended, it's "liquid"... Isn't it? Thx Dawn
