  1. Hello! Congrats on getting closer to the day that will change your life forever! My surgery day 12/17 but 2013. I skipped "was" on purpose:). I love every minute of it! I lost 90 lbs, reached my goal and lost extra 5 lbs. I would love to help you get through rough time. Good luck on your journey and and welcome to the club!
  2. Before surgery my cravings were so strong that they were interfering with my daily life:((. I would spend most of my energy fighting it. After the surgery I didn't have cravings or touched simple carbs for ~ 6 months. I still don't eat simple carbs on regular basis but from time to time a have cravings, not as strong as in the past. My food choices are healthy 90-95% of the time but other 5%...(. I'm working very hard to stay with plan to maintain my current weight and maybe loose another 5lbs.
  3. Hello, guys! I started at 238 lbs, was sleeved 11/17/13. Now I'm 151 lbs. I'm 5'5 and wearing size 6-8, depends on company. Yesterday, I bought few sweaters that x-small (!). Except of mod acid reflux, I don't have any complications. I feel very good and very happy with the results! I'm very nervous about food cravings coming back and gaining wt:((.

The worst time of the year!

Hello RJ! This is the worst time of the year for many people, including myself. It has a fancy name: Seasonal Mood Disorder. It's caused by decrease of seratonine level and vit D3 which happen especially during winter months, but shows delayed respond. Winter vacation in Florida can be very helpfull. Meds and natural supplements to boost your energy and mood may also be very helpful. I was told that meditation works very well. It's sounds logical but personally I've never tried it. I feel your pain... I spent 1 1/2 months 2 years in the row locked in my room. I physically couldn't function. I was very tired all the time, had no interest in activities that normally made me very happy. I was forcing myself to get out of bed to go to work or drive to pick up my children from school. I slept and still was sleepy. I really hope you will get better soon. It's getting warmer, days are getting longer and soon it will pass. Just hang in there a little. You've been through so much! Please let me know if I can do anything for you. We can chat or talk on the phone. I feel I can help you to get through this rough time. Best wishes!!!
  5. Hello everyone! I really need some HELP!!! I was sleeved 12/17/13. I've been doing great and couldn't be happier about my decision to get WSG. I had no complications and was following Dr's plan religiously. I went back to work, no pain, no nausea. Few day ago I developed pretty intensed right side mid abdominal pain with nausea. First, it localized higher up, so I thought it was my gallbladder. I had US that showed I don't have any stones or inflammation. Pain moved a little lower to the mid and on the right side. I went back to clear liquids that help a lot with pain, but it's still there. I don't have fever or chills and my belly is soft. My surgeons wants to do CT and sent for insurance approval. I'm so nervous!!! I can't sleep, can't think about anything else. Did anyone else had similar experience? Please share any info that can be helpfull.

  7. Thermage and Ulthera are the most effective ones. You should find a reputable place and schedule a consultation with the doctor to see if you are a good confidant for those procedures. I know a very nice place in NJ.

Hello Mkak! So nice to hear from a veteran! How are you doing now? Your wt loss results are fenaminal! How much wt did you lose in 1st, 2nd months? Did you have any stalls? I've read that about 6 months after the surgery a lot of people admit having much less sleeve resistance. And most important question for me: did you had food cravings before the surgery? And if yes, did it come back? Sorry for bombarding with so many questions. Each surgeon has his own stile and a lot of post op symptoms may be same for us. I would really appreciate your answers. Thanks in advance!

Work2do, I'm very happy that your process is coming along and before you know you will be one of us:). Actually, having a surgery in March/ April is very good. It would be easier to exercise ( walking). Also, after surgery I am always cold, so freezing weather is really getting to me. If you have any question, please feel free to ask, I would love to answer it. Are you scared? Concerned? Worried? Ask! Keep me updated on your progress.

Sandi, I know it's very hard to get all fluids and proteins, but please try your best. I'm going pretty well. Skin adhesive came off my biggest incision. The other 3 are still intact. I have big scabs over incisions, but it doesn't really bothers me. I'm really scared to stretch my sleeve... I'm back to work as off Jan 1. Still very tired especially at the end of the day. My sleep cycle is still mixed up, but over all I can't complain. I can't say that weight is coming off very easily, but honestly I didn't start exercising regularly yet. I really have no regrets having it done and believe that gastric sleeve will change my life for better.

Sandisleeve, Are you taking GasX strips? It really helped me. I also was waking up from the pressure in my chest and severe pain in my left shoulder. GasX helped me a lot. I was drinking and walking. Are you taking pain meds and anti-nausea meds? For me it was easier to drink warmer fluids and eat SF jello. I really hope you feel better soon!

Hello! If a person has been suffering from heartburns, abdominal pain, nausea, etc for a while, most probably that type of hernia will be seen during endoscopy. However, if a hernia is very small and asymptomatic, it may come as a surprise during the surgery. I never thought I have hiatal hernia and endoscopy showed nothing, but during the surgery Dr Nusbaum discovered a very small hernia and fixed it. He took few pictures and gave it to me after the surgery. I know it's very hard to get in fluids plus proteins but please try it. It's very important! I hope you feel much better soon!

Work2do, Don't worry about endoscopy. I chose to have conscious sedation. Procedure took 10 min. I was taken into procedure room, next thing I remember was recovery room. I don't mind any questions. I'm happy if I can help!

Hi sandisleeve, Gongrats on your 15-days journey! I agree that most probably your low energy is due to insufficient amount of protein. My first week I was very weak and lightheaded. As soon as I started drinking protein shakes, my energy level went back to pre-surgery (almost). As far as liquids go, I found that consuming SF jello is much easier than plain water. It's VERY important to get at least 50 oz of fluids daily. I know it's not easy but please make it your priority for now. It's a full time job to get in all fluids plus proteins. I'm ER physician.

Anyone Use Dr. Nusbaum In Nj?

Hello! I am a Dr Nusbaum's patient. I was sleeved 12/17/13. I'm a physician myself. I've spoke to several surgeons before I finalized my choice. No regrets. I'm very happy with Dr. Nusbaum and his office. Everything went very smoothly. Few days after the surgery I had a question for a Doctor, he called imediately. He also using a med application on iPhone, so you can text directly to him, bypassing answering service. All the PAs, that are working with him, are extremely knowledgeable and skillful. The office staff are polite and courteous. I would recommend Dr. Nusbaum to anyone who is looking for a surgeon in this area.
  20. Me too! I also was sleeved 12/17/13. Went home next day. First 2 days were very rough, but now I'm much better. I don't take pain killers anymore. However, Gas pain in my chest and left shoulder is still bothers me a lot. Also, I can't sleep at night. I have no problems falling asleep but after 2 hrs wake up and can't go back to sleep for 2-3 hrs. I'm still experiencing some discomfort at incisional sides, but it's not real pain. Last I was able to sleep on my side. I realized that if I put a pillow between my knees it release some pressure form abdominal wall. It's so much better compairing to first few days after the surgery!!!!!
  21. Hi there! I was sleeved 12/17/13. First 2 days post op I was takin liquid form of Percocet every 4 hrs and it work as a magic. Gas pain in my chest and left shoulder still bothers me, but gets better with manual massage. Over all, I feel MUCH better since 3rd day. It will get better very soon!
