  1. My Dr. told me to maintain my current weight for now. I haven't been told to loose anything yet. How about you? I'm kind of concerned if I have to go on this 2 week liquid diet before surgery. What has your Dr. told you?
  2. I have chosen to tell nobody. And when my surgery date comes I will only tell my Son and Mother. I agree it's nobodies business and I don't want to hear it.
  3. I started taking vitamins and protein shakes as soon as I found out I was accepted into the program. I have a 6 month waiting period, I started (in June) taking 1 pill each day of Hair, Skin and Nails, sublingual B-12, women's one a day multi vitamins, Calcium Citrate w/500 mg of Calcium. I'm hoping for a December surgery date. I also drink 100% whey 1x a day and will soon go up to 2x's a day.
  4. Hi Lynn, it looks like we are the same height, same weight and hoping for approval around the same time (my six months will be up in December). I have been doing monthly weigh-in's (I actually go in tomorrow). SO far I am done with everything but the monthly weigh in's. Holding my breath and hoping for the best .
  5. Hi, I haven't had my surgery yet but, I have read on tons of posts that your tastes change and the things you crave are different. Most posts I have seen is that people are sore after surgery but walking does help with the pain and healing. Good luck with your appointment. I am hoping I get approved in December.
  6. That is what I am working towards. Right now I have a morning shake but, I will need to move up to 2x's a day. Better sooner than later.
  7. Hi! Good luck with your surgery. Are you on a liquid diet?
  8. Wow one night. That is great that you were feeling that good you could leave. I haven't had my surgery yet I am hoping everything goes smoothly like yours did. I have read a lot of comments about having a squishy pillow so I will have to remember that! Are you having trouble keeping anything down?
  9. Congrats on being 6 days post op! Did you or are you having any pain? How long were you in the hospital?
  10. Good luck! It will be interesting to hear how you feel after surgery. Update if you can.
  11. Hi, I was given a list by my Dr and this is what I was told. BTW I get all my vitamins at Costco. It's just cheaper and you get a lot more. Calcium Citrate w/500 mg of calcium. Women's one a day multivitamin. B-12 2500mcg sublingual and I chose to take hair/skin/nails (5000mcg of Biotin),. I make sure I taken them with my protein shake or food.I will get sick if I don't.
  12. I was put on a six month pre op diet but, I was told to just maintain my current weight and start by drinking protein shakes for breakfast (which works out really well), now I need to work myself up to lunch shakes also!!! I am dreading the liquid diet but, I guess I will find out if I need to actually do it when I get closer.
  13. Hi, I'm new here too. I am still going through the six month approval. I am hoping to be approved by December. Like you I have been looking through different chats as well. Just trying to see all the different opinions. Good luck to you!
  14. I am still going through all the pre-op (I have a six month WLS waiting period). I have chosen to tell NO-one until I am approved. Even at that point I will only tell my Son and Mother. It's nobody's business but mine.
  15. I agree! I think if I would have rushed into this I would have failed.
  16. Congrats!! I'm hoping for December. Fingers crossed!
  17. I've never written a blog so I thought why not give it a try. How did I get here? I'm not too sure. Yes, I'm lieing I know. I've been heavy all my life. "Thick" was good for me . Every year a little more would creep up on me. I had my son and thought, maybe I'll be the lucky one and loose all the baby weight. Fat chance (literally). I always stayed active but, it was never enough. 16 years later and I'm still trying to loose the baby weight. Now it just looks like I'm pregnant with twins. Give me a break. I always thought WLS was for people who were lazy and didn't want to work out. Talk about a change of heart. It's no fun when you don't have the energy for ANYTHING! It feels like my life has been sucked away. I'm tired all the time even when I get enough sleep.....bring on the bed I'm ready for a nap! Nothing is more embarrassing than not fitting on a ride at an amusement park. Being told (after the operator comes over and smashes the chest device on you) that it will not lock and you must get off the ride. I told myself I would never go to another amusement park again. I was mortified! After some horrific events in my life happened, I decided I was going to make a change. I needed help and I obviously couldn't do it on my own. Sleeve here I come! I went to weight loss seminar and found out that I qualified for bariatric surgery. I was excited!!!! OH, but wait, you have to wait six months, you have to go to a nutrition class, you have to see a nutritionist, get an upper GI, an endoscopy, have monthly weigh ins, go get lab work, drink protein shakes, take vitamins, give up chocolate......WAIT!!! What did you just say? Give up chocolate? That might be the deal breaker! All this while spinning on my head and loose weight at the same time!!! Anyone who goes through all this MUST be serious!!! So I committed to doing it. And lemme tell you, it's not easy. I am 4 months in and when my sixth month hits and they prepare my paperwork for insurance approval I'm gonna be a nervous wreck! I didn't have to jump through this many hoops when I bought my house!! I guess I better go to sleep. I can't even say it's because I'm tired. I'm always tired. Can't wait to get some energy back. Then maybe I won't look like the walking dead!
  18. Thank you for sharing! I am 5'4" 245 and I can't wait until my 6 months is up (in December), to schedule my surgery. I am so ready for the change!! Love the before and after pictures!!!
  19. Trying to schedule my surgery the last two weeks of December so I can start off 2014 with a new attitude!!
  20. Yes, I agree. It all depends on your insurance company. Mine (Health Net), said it's based on your first weigh in. They (the Dr 's) want to make sure you will maintain a healthy life style after the surgery. I am right at the border with my BMI (40) with no comorbids. I have started drinking the protein shakes for breakfast to prepare myself for the liquid diet. Fingers crossed!!!
  21. Hello everyone I'm new to this forum. I am 3 months into my 6 month required wait. I agree it is aggravating. The thing I worry about the most is when I complete my last weigh in (December), if they will approve me! MY BMI is 40 with no comorbidities. Nervous!!!
