  1. When you're body experiences pain, your glucose is higher. I had a hysto last year and my BS was 180 even though I ate nothing for almost 2 days. I'm on an insulin pump and I don't think I will bring it to the hospital. I don't want to manage my own BS in my pain med fog. Today is the last day of liquids( today is only clear liquids). My surgery is tomorrow morning. My BS has been between 80-90 all day, even with full sugar juice. All week my numbers have been great, the best they have ever been. I think its because I've had no refined carbs for 2 weeks. I'm afraid this is how I am going to have to live for the rest of my life.
  2. My surgery is tomorrow too. 7:30am( PST). I am staying home all day, just took the 2nd half of my magnesium citrate. Not too much coming out, I haven't eaten anything solid in 2 weeks.
  3. I have anthem BC of CA, but mine is thru my spouse's work( LAPD). Its great insurance. I also have a secondary so not sure what I will have to pay. When I had my hysterectomy, I didn't pay anything. I did have to pay 200.00 for the psych and a 600.00 program fee. I am pretty pissed about that.
  4. My dr. recommended those too, but I went with what costco carried. Got a case of Pure Protein for 24.99 and a case of Optimum Nutrition for the same price( but that had a 6.00 coupon). I like the ON better, less aftertaste. That one has 20g of Protein, the pure protein shake has 30g.

  6. My surgery Tuesday. I'm concerned because I ALWAYS sleep on my stomach. I know I wont be able to, so I am nervous about that. I snore when I am on my back. I hope I can sleep on my side. I'm bringing what I call my "boob" blanket with me. I bunch up and twin quilt and use it like a pillow between my boobs( so I guess I'm kinda on my side). I did that when I had my hysterectomy and it worked out fine. I have a 3 day hospital stay so I will let you know.
  7. Ive read some bad things about muscle milk. Its got some bad stuff in there.
  8. My surgery is on the 19th. I started my pre-op diet on Nov 5th. The first few days were brutal. I can have broth, sf jello, pudding, sf yogurt, fruit juice, protein shakes and soup. I'm eating the boxed organic soups. Tomato and the like. I've also gotten soup at whole foods( hot food) and trader Joes( minestrone). I cant stomach the low-fat cream soups. Those are meant for casseroles!! I've lost 9lbs so far. On Sunday( at noon), I switch to clear liquids until Monday at midnight. On Monday I do the bowel prep. Those 2 days of clear liquids will be hard. I love the FitFrappe protein shakes from Big Train. They almost make me think I'm drinking a starbucks frappacino.
  9. I will only be 9 days out at Tday. Will still be on full liquids. So depressing. I cant wait until Thanksgiving is over.
  10. I am on day 4 of the pre-op diet and I cant stay out of the bathroom. Yesterday, 7x. I'm stunned. I did have a Soup that had 10g of Fiber so maybe that's why. I also eat a small salad each day. I love the FitFrappes from Big Train. The vanilla tastes exactly like the vanilla bean frap from starbucks.
  11. Amazon.com carries a ton of different Protein powders. I ordered the FitFrappe( by Big Train). I ordered directly from their website, but its cheaper on amazon. I make it in the blender with ice and Water and it tastes like a frappacino. 20g of protein for a shake and its takes awhile to drink.
  12. Suicide is not a laughing matter. A good friend of mine committed suicide 3 months ago.
  13. I just finished day 1(yesterday) and I cheated with a package of steamed veggies. I was STARVING. My head was splitting and I felt like crying all day. This morning I made 1/4c. of egg beaters in a pam sprayed pan. 30 calories. How can I eat a 60 calorie sf pudding, but not egg beaters? Doesn't make sense to me. I am diabetic too, on insulin so I think my hunger is a lot worse than someone who isn't diabetic. I remember before I was on insulin, I'd eat egg whites or another protein for breakfast and I'd stay full until 1pm, doesn't happen anymore. I got on the scale this morning and I'd lost only .5. I know I didn't eat anymore than 1,000 calories yesterday. So frustrating.
  14. That's more restrictive than my diet. I'm on day 1. same as your diet except we can have sugar free fudgecicles, popcicles and must have 70g of protein a day. We can have dannon light and fit yogurt and fruit juice and low fat cream Soup. I'm diabetic so wont be drinking fruit juice( unless I have a low blood sugar). Today has been really, really hard.
  15. I am on full liquids for 2 weeks( with clear liquids the last 2 days). I seriously don't know how I am going to get thru this. I had a premier protein shake( pre-mixed, bought a case at Costco for 24.99) at 8am. I'm drinking my one allowed iced coffee. I'm going to have soup for lunch and dinner and have to fit another protein shake in there at some point. I'm also diabetic on an insulin pump so I am always HANGRY= hungry & angry!! My endo was no freaking help either. Told me to reduce my insulin on the pump by 20%. I still think that is too much, but we shall see.
  16. I bought 2 cases of different protein shakes at Costco. Premier Protein in chocolate( 30g of protein) and EAS( 20grams). I also ordered 3 samples packs( around 13.00) of FITFRAPPE PROTEIN shakes from Bigtrain.com.
  17. My diet is juice( 100% fruit or veg), protein drinks( they recommended world wide pure protein shake found at trader joes), skim milk, low-fat cream soups, sugar free pudding and jello, dannon light and fit yogurt, sugar free fudgcles and popscicles. Water, crystal light, tea, can have coffee( they say preferably decafinated).
  18. I put off getting the surgery for years because I didn't want to give up the diet coke( or fizzy water). I start my pre-op diet on Tuesday so I guess I will be giving it up then. Im so scared!! Here in Cali, McDonald's has any size soft drink for 1.00. I usually get 1 every day. MY wallet is going to like me a lot more too : )
  19. Me too. I start my liquids on Tuesday, surgery is Nov 19th.
  20. ]What was your pre=-surgery prep like? Did you have to lose so many lbs before surgery? Where did you have your surgery?
  21. I'm in Santa Clarita. I had a consult with Dr. Feiz, but just found out I need to see a dr. in network. I have anthem blue cross. I just made an Appt. for this coming Monday with Dr. Dr. Philippe Quilici.
