  1. OMG it is getting closer... I am so excited and possitive that I have made the right decision to have this surg. I finally spoke to my Fam. Phys. yest about ordering my MEDS post op in liquid form... a few small glitches, like my anti=depressant cannot be crusshed and mixed with liquids or semi solids... so I have to Switch Antidepressants and open a Capsule and Sprinkle it in a beverage or into my musshy food... I can handle that... hopefully after 1 month I'll be more able to Swallow pills??? Anyone have any thoughts on this???:help:
  2. hI aNDREA, i TOO first "looked" at going to Mexico... the doctors reputations and medical facilities are awesome... PLUS a GF of mine IS a physician and SHE went to MEXICO for her Face Lift, BOOB job and eye lift.... so that's a pretty good referral if you ask me... HOWEVER! If you go to MEX and save $$$ the TLBC Toronto Doctors will do your 'after' fills but they charge $5000 so by the time you add in airfare, Mex medical bills, + the $5000 for Cdn aftercare... its really not much of a savings... In my humble opinion. However, you could get HUBBY to make a vacation out of it everytime you need a "fill" (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)
  3. Hi Di; Not that I am an expert... as I have not been banded yet (July 11th) But from what I have read... you start off with 2 oz protien, 2 oz. Vegetables/fruit, 2 oz. of Potatoe/starch( that's if you have room for it!) so roughly that's 1/2 to 3/4 cup of food in total... what would fit on a lunch/salad plate... If your hiccupping... that's a sign of toomuch food.. Good luck and hang in ther.. its a learning process for ALL of us. Peaches9
  4. ((lurking from Canada)) Worst things? Definetly the RUbbing Leg syndrome... oh that rash hurts!!! I solved it by wearing thin "bike" shorts under my dresses... ONLY wore dresses at 240 as slacks always bunched in at the crotch... hate those girls whose main complaint is "camel toe" !!! LOL Hating that my tummy sticks out farther than my 40DD boobs Hating not being able to see if I have any grey hair "down there" yet. Yes, and restroom stalls - either you poke yourself in the eye with the purse hook on the back of the door, or you can't wedge yourself between the HUGE double-roll tissue dispenser and the Sanitary dispenser.... Trying to put on my own Toe Nail polish.. forget about it! Solved teh CLOTHING Problem though, I started Selling Ladies clothes at home parties... xs to XX- large... its great I can just order whatever I want in XXL and if its too big or small I can send it back. I also get to try it on in the PRIVACY of my OWN home... Does anyone else notice that the thermostatic temperature in those Mall Change rooms is always set on "CARIBBEAN" heat wave!! or is it post menopausal me??? hummmm Peaches9 240/193/130
  5. Kathybad; My GF had the Gastric bypass ROUX-n-Y done laproscopically in Feb... in MICHIGAN.. Ohip paid as she was heavier than I... it cost $40K U.S. funds!!!! SHe made her application from teh Drs office and within 10 days got her approval from OHIP!! 2 wks later she had her surgery in the US.. I went with her for pre-op tests etc... long drive. but she has done very well. I did not weigh enough to qualify for ROUX n Y and OHIP payment. she has lost 65 lbs since Feb/07 - has never regretted her decision "wished I had done this 10 yrs ago!" was her last reply to me... BUT I think the LAP is the best choice for me... especially that it's reversable if you ever have a Health Crisis and need full nutrician again (although I hope NOT) I agree that our Government Health care could certainly use some "tweeking" It is short sighted of them... with the W/L surgery "we" will cost the OHIP system LESS money in the long run... ie. Heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, joint/back problems, .... funny how they will pay for Pacemakers in someones chest after their heart has pooped out. Or artificial knees...??? That is one of the blessings of this LAPBAND surg. I will be carrying a lot less excess weight around on my arthritic knees and spine...
  6. I lived there from 1989-2000 when I moved 'up north' to the Georgian Traingle... I hate driving in Toronto, so that will be my next challenge - when I go for fills - I may drive myself... DH is taking me for Tues meeting and Wed surgery to T.O. Peaches9 51 240/195/130?
  7. Lynette, you take ZOLOFT for depression... what form is it in??? Liquid or do you just open the capsule and sprinkle on food??? "Little yellows" or bigger ORANGE guy???
  8. Currently I am on Welbutrin SR 1 X day... but its a hard little purple pill (asprin sized) and I am told by Pharmacist that it CANNOT be crushed. Has anyone got a good solution/suggestion....???? What other antidepressants is everybody on?:ranger:
  9. Lynette; Two days out... how are you 'feeling"..???? I hope not too much pain, what are you taking Liquid Tylenol or Liquid something stronger???
  10. Kathy, this is too funny.... I used to live in LONDON
  11. to KATHYBAD; are you going to the Nutrician/Information Night next Tues. 10th July 6 p.m.???? If so I'll be there too... So we can meet in the flesh!
  12. Kathybad, I read your post and that you are getting 'done' on July 23rd at TBLC.... I am scheduled next Wed at HIGH NOON ( at the o.k. corral) I am getting so excited I can hardly c ontain myself... had all my blood work, ECG this a.m. and Chest Xray yesterday... hopefully the FAXES will get to wear they need to be on time!!! To all the Bandsters here: I was not an overweight child or even teenager, although I was a compulsive overeater and SUGAR-holic even then... I got away with it as I was very active, sports, drama, Judo etc... but after I got married ( bliss!) I started taking on the 'happy' fat.... you know what I mean? My Dh and I LOVE ICECREAM and we would buy a 2L and eat the whole thing in one or two nights... that was our 1st yr of marriage. By the time we decided to have a family 4 yrs later, I was up to 135 from my ideal 120-125 range... WELL while preggers I went up to 169 ( I can't wait to be THERE again!) which was a tremendous amount... my whole family made no bones about telling me how huge I was.... After DD was born, I dropped teh lbs within 6 mos.. not because of dieting but mostly PP Depression... 1st time in my life I COULD not eat. Then within one year of her 1st Bday I started to climb again... did various diets, WW (lifer), JennyC, Beverly Hills W/L program, Herbal Magic, Xenical, Meridia, WW sprinkled in several times here or there... every time I lost wgt, it was like I was at Maintainance for about ummm 5 minutes.... then regain everythign +++ So here I am 100+ lbs over a healthy weight for my stature... I've managed in 2005 to lose 45lbs by going to the gym 4 times a week, Treadmill, eliptical, bike, weights... but this past year my WEIGHT will not budge from 195.. That's when I decided to do the Lap, been considering it for a year.. My Surg is costing $16K in Canada... but I figure if left to my own devices and I put all this weight on agian... I'd be dead.... and it would cost $16 to bury me LOL So this is an INVESTMENT in ME Nice chatting with you all,, sorry I was so long winded. PEACHES
  13. I'd take the Lean Cuisine!!! at least its SOLID ha,ha,ah.... I started my preop diet yest... cottage cheese, yogurt... by supper time I HAD to have 1/2 of a Sweet potatoe(no butter) and one cube of pork from my DH Skewer of Souvlaki.... but other than that DAY ! pre-op went o.k. Todays much better.... and only 6 more days to go~~~
  14. I so much needed to READ this about "what is the full feeling"... That will be my biggest challenge once banded next week... it will be several wks before I can eat solids but having thise guidelines from you experts will be VERY helpful. Thanks Peaches 240/195/140

BLess you all in your journey... if any other 11 July folks want to keep in touch that would be great!Q
