I ended up cutting my long hair because it got so thin. My hairdresser thought I might have a thyroid problem, so went and had that checked. It wasn't that! I have increased by protein, by having a protein shake everyday, and using Ovation. It is starting to grow back. I am a little over 6 months post op. I will take being thinner and having no hair, to being fat and having hair.

I am your worst case person. I was back at work in 3 weeks, but looked like I was dead. I had massive infections and was in the hospital for another week. With no complications you should be fine to go to work.. Good Luck it is so worth it... I love my sleeve!

Prayers for your and your husband. Try to stick with Protein, it will last longer and keep you full. Good luck and stay strong, and remember you are still recovering too....

HW 254 SW 226 CW 170 Slow and Steady Progress..I am loving my new me. I did however, have my hair cut short so it doesn't look so thin.. Oh well, it will grow back! I am getting thinner everyday, and the hair loss is worth it.. Keep focused on your journey.

I usually order off the kids meal - hamburger without the bun or chicken. If i am in a crunch, I will get the kids lunchables and eat the cheese and meat. I am 4 months post off and have not yet tried jerky. I always have something to drink and string cheese with me.

I only had the injections when I was in the hospital. Good luck to you!!

well i have a couple of posts in the complications area, i've gotten a lot of support there! would i do it again? probably. but i would have made different choices here at home. i probably would have had the stent or the nj tube till the leak healed. done it right the first time. my weight loss hasn't suffered, i lost a lot right off the bat. in total i've gone from a size 24 to a size 8. my ass is so flat it's funny...because i lost a lot of muscle tone, but that's something i can work on when i feel better. i've lost over 100lbs. i didn't have tpn, just tube feeds so i never had too many calories. they wanted me to take 8 cans of food a day and i never did that, just 4. that's all i could stomach. been about 1000 calories a day as opposed to the over 2000 they wanted me on. of course that could have hampered my healing too, and i smoke. but i'll never know. keep up the good fight!~ Congratulations on your weight loss!!

Lori, You are not alone. I was not as sick as you were! My sleeve was done on the 17th of December, and was up and walking on Wednesday. All was good, so i thought and went home on Friday. Tried taking a shower on Saturday, and my youngest son watched me pass out. They told me I was just weak and it would be okay. On Sunday I tried to bake my husband a cake, I did it, but it took hours... Got one thing out of the cabinet, then go sit down, 10 minutes later got another thing out.. Anyway by 6:00ish I called the doctor. They told me since you were being seen tomorrow, I would be fine. At 3:00 am i woke up with a 103 fever (staying with my Mom) yelled for her to get me some children's aspirin. Fever came down, but it took everything i had to get dressed to go to the doctors. Got to the doctors and couldn't get out of the car! They sent me to the ER. This is Monday the 22nd of December!! Spent the next week (yes Christmas) in the hospital, while they tried to figure out where the infection came from and what they were going to do about it. I was dehydrated and they couldn't find any veins for IV's - so they had to do a pick line in my neck on Christmas Eve... Anyway, came home on Saturday very weak, to only end up with thrush!! Back at work the next week, very weak but out of PTO.. It took about a month to finally feel better and get back to a normal routine. I have lost almost 73 pounds and love my sleeve now, but if you would have ask me in January I would have said not way..... Good luck and stay strong!!

I have a question for you on the hair loss...are you finding it coming out in certain instances, or can you just put your hand in your hair and pull it out? I've been concerned about the potential for hair loss, but I am not sure if it is something you see in your brush, or if you can just pull it out with your hand. [/quote In the morning when it is wet, I see a lot of hair in my brush. We are trying to figure out if it is my thyroid or due to the surgery (maybe lack of protein)..

I am right there with you.. thin hair and not much left.. I do have long hair, but thinking about having it cut off. No sure what to do, maybe Ovation?????
