  1. Maybe Olga's is just in Mi., I don't know. It's one of those restaurants you find in the malls. It kind of a greek restaurant without the coneys. The original Olga is like a gyro on flatbread. Yummy. (and they let you eat off the kids menu)
  2. Unfortunately dinner went down real easy. Small slice of meat loaf and garlic mashed potatoes (no gravy)Small bites and chew chew chew. Ended up having three spoonfuls of potatoes. I haven't had any in forever and a day. Man, they were good. Steph - Ruby had an excellent idea about subbing. When you do go back, maybe you could consider job sharing. Work half time. Janet - that's what I though you meant by burn. I can do that. By the way, have fun tonight but don't get blitzed. Well, too blitzed anyhow. Beth - that has to be the pits, getting unfilled, but you've done great so far. Just pretend you still have fill.
  3. Llinda - Finished off the panini for lunch. Good thing it was only half. Just had a little twinge of pain so I stopped. Bread usually doesn't bother me. Before banded, bread was my basic staple. I was pb'ing on soup.......cottage cheese too, so it wasn't just the bread. Phyll - My very first super PB was after eating a Sammy at Quiznos. Slimed for over half an hour. Won't go back there again. And I wasn't impressed with them. Now, I love the Olga sandwiches. Those are worth pb'ing over. Ruby - When I went for a whole month plateaued, I upped my pedaling, and upped my eating. The extra exersizing kept me from gaining and the extra eating jump started my metabolism. Do that for a day or two then cut back. Your metabolism slows down because it thinks it's starving so you have to feed it. Steph, - hope your toothache gets better and isn't anything serious. Just found out last week, since DH retired, dental and optical isn't a benefit anymore. and we have to pay 20% of all doctor visits, labs and scripts. I gotta talk to my doctor. I want off these pills. I feel so much better. NSV - Sleep machine has been seriously bothering my sinuses so I quit using it. I don't think I've been snoring. My throat isn't raw and no one has heard me. Karri - Hope things are great. Can't wait to hear the details. And see pictures. Hope you bought something tiny and sexy for that wedding night. Janet - What exactly do you mean by BURN?
  4. Good Morning ladies! It's a beautiful nice sunny day here in Michigan. I think it is still cold though. Gotta go out and get grandson a birthday present today. He's gonna be three. Gotta get him one of those battery operated cars. One of the band rules? If you can't exersize, you need to get in 10,000 steps. No Janet, all done pedaling for the day. seems like it's getting to be a chore just to get in one hour. Been doing it, but it's getting hard. Also trying to get 10-15 minutes with 3 lb weights. Question though, is it better to do 10-15 with three pound weights, or less time with heavier weights? I've been having a bit of a problem the past couple days. I had a fill two weeks ago and Thurs. afternoon, I was snacking on wheat thins and an hour later, daughter started fixing burgers for her and her dad.....so I fixed myself a bocaburger in a pita pocket. I had about three bites and started pb'ing something terrible for about half an hour. Then, yesterday, for lunch I had a lean cousine pannini. Ate not quite half of it when again I started pb'ing. This time for over an hour. So for dinner, I decided on soup. Italian wedding soup. Put one serving of it in a bowl, ate about three quarters of it and started pb'ing again. Not as bad though cause I stopped eating as soon as I felt it coming on. Now, to be honest with you, I later finished off the wheat thins with no problems. So, today, I'm gonna finish the pannini and see what happens. Question is, did it take two weeks for the fill to kick in? Or did I do something wrong here?? OKAY, NOW. GONNA GO EAT MY PANNINI. TRY ANYWAY, THEN HIT TOYSRUS. HAVE A GOOD DAY. DON'T EAT TO MUCH. TTYL
  5. Ruby - that recipe sounds yummy. Gonna have to try it. Phyll - Have fun with those grand kids. Make to most ot it. Drive carefully when you get back on the road. I know you feel bad about missing the funeral, but Aunt Jenny knows you cared and would be there if you could. She's looking down on you, guiding you home. Janet - Yeah, nothing like a good looking guy to motivate a person. How old is this guy anyway? Karri - drive carefully over the mountain,. Good luck Saturday and best wishes and congrats. Can't wait to see the pictures. Figured out what my BMI is now. When I started the process, it was 43. This morning it was 31.5. Well, I now the know the numbers.........I just have to figure out what the numbers mean. LOL Made myself a Bocaburger in a pita bread...had three bites and it got stuck, big time. Took over an hour to feel halfway decent again. HAVE A GREAT NIGHT EVERYONE. TTYtomorrow.

I'm sorry for getting off the subject of lapband here, but did you know that April is NATIONAL DONATE LIFE month?? Have you registered to be an organ donor?? Wouldn't you love to be some one's HERO?? Tissue and excess skin is needed for burn patients. So if you are getting plastic surgery, don't forget that someone can use that excess skin. So, Please, IN MEMORY OF MY GRANDAUGHTER, JAYLI, Please, please please sign up to donate your organs. And talk to others about it too. THANKS.
  7. APRIL IS NATIONAL DONATE LIFE MONTH. Be someone's Hero.............if you are getting that excess skin cut off, don't forget to donate it. And not just that excess skin. Don't forget to sign up to be an organ donor, too. My little grand daughter, Jayli, passed away at 28 months, while waiting for a new liver.
  8. Linda and Karri - When you two talk with the PS, don't forget to ask about donating that excess skin. Be someone's Hero. April is National Donate Life, so this is the right time to discuss it with your doctor. I hope no one minds that I'm getting up on my soap box again about organ donation. I feel that I owe it to my little grand daughter, Jayli.
  9. Birthday greetings to Jackie. Oh my, to be 35 again.......(in my dreams) Phyll - Sorry to hear about Aunt Jenni. Just take comfort in the fact that she is in a better place. I got a kick out of your piercing and tatoo comments. Hubby would kill me if I came home with a tat. Kids each have one and hid it from him for years. Janet - BAT WINGS...........LOL I love it. I got em too. My son calls them Bingo Arms. I got em at the top of my thighs, boobs are now a D cup but it's mostly wrinkly loose skin filling the cups. And we won't even go to the stomach. My soap's about to start.....gotta get some lunch in before so I'll check in later.
  10. Oh Jackie, I just loved your post. It was so cool. I'm a sucker for those sentimental things. Thanks for posting it. Sweet. I'm going to have to check air fares to Minn. for this summer. I could probably drive it, but I don't think it would save money........and I am not a long trip car person. My neighbor is a fight attendant for Northwest, maybe I can talk her into a buddy pass. That would be great. TTYL
  11. I can't make any promises about the Minn. trip. I'd love to go and meet everyone but DH just retired and I am not sure how far the money is going to go each month. And I don't know if DH is going to suddenly get possessive. Who Knows? Gonna have to play it by ear. A HUNDRED POUNDS ! ! ! I can't wait. I've lost 75 pounds so far and have about sixty more to go.
  12. You know what I love about my sleep machine? I can put the covers over my head, not get claustiphobic, and sleep in.
  13. Okay, Janet, I'll try to post this bigger. It's just cut and paste so we'll see. I tried to find some before surgery pics and you know, I just couldn't find any. All my pics have pics of the grandkids in them...........so at least they'll know what their grammy looks like. I hate getting my pictures taken.
  14. I did it before, let's see if I can do it again. This was taken the beginning of december.
  15. I was here earlier, but my computer was slower than molasses and it wouldn't let me post. Karri - I checked out your pictures. AWESOME ! ! ! You look great. Congrats on your upcoming nuptuals. Phyll - Love the hair. You look so pert and sassy. Mine needs to be cut again. Short hair looks so much better on full faces. Peaches, I'll be thinking about you tomorrow morning. Sure things will go just peachy. Curious about why your band failed. Janet - What kind of things does your trainer have you do? I thought about getting one, but the closest gym is about forty five minutes away and with the price of joining and the price of gas, I'm not sure it's worth it at this time. Stephanie - Those smiles are a master-card moment. PRICELESS ! ! Same with Zoloft. HAVE A GOOD NIGHT, AND MAKE GOOD CHOICES. I'm gonna try to post a picture of me that was taken Sunday. Here goes nothin' Sure didn't go where I wanted it but who cares. I did it.
  16. Good evening ladies !! Hope you all had a happy Easter. We spent the day with the grandkids. Oh my, they are getting so big. Karina's crawling all over the place and Gavin's potty trained. (he stand pees) I seem to have some restriction this fill. Had a few bites of ham, Watergate salad and mashed potatoes..........and then got stuck. Oh yeah, a bunch of deviled eggs. (lots of protein) I did finally finish up. Then had a piece of cake for dessert a couple hours later,. I kept away from the candy though,. Did not meet my expectations. It didn't do a thing for me. Yipee ! ! ! ! I now know that I can do without. (never thought I could say that about chocolate frosting) It's back on track tomorrow. Janet - Thanks for the info on fake pasta. It isn't offered near me anywhere. Whole wheat (or 7grain) Pasta by Ronzoni has 180 calories per serving and tastes great and it is pretty cheap. Karri - Go for the 2 pounds. in Fact, I would just keep going if you are feeling up to it. I met a young girl in Mexico at the clinic, getting a fill. She had hit her goal of a size 10........got down to a size 8.....and then over the course of a year went back to a 10. She liked size 8 better so she was getting another fill. I'LL TALK TO YOU ALL TOMORROW. SWEET DREAMS EVERYONE.
  17. I live in the SW corner of Livingston County and I would be delighted to join a support group within 50 miles of me. Lansing, brighton, Jackson, Ann Arbor areas. If there is one in the area, e-mail me at kirajh@yahoo.com, or if you are interested in starting one.
  18. Janet - what is fake pasta? I love pasta but don't eat it much anymore. Phyll - whole wheat pasta is good!! Can't taste the difference. Peaches - Good luck with your surgery. Love the new picture. I am going to have to get one of me. More and more people are noticing the changes so............guess I must be. Well, the sun is shining today, but there is about 8 inches of snow on the ground. (and this is sposed to be spring?) HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A HAPPY, LOW CAL EASTER ! ! !
  19. Hello there. I've been lurking, not posting but reading all the posts. Went for a fill today. Lost 9 pounds last month. Only 18 more pounds till onederland. I can't remember when i was last there. It seems like there might be some tightness this time. I get full quickly and have to quit eating cause I can feel things starting to get stuck. Right now I have a little more than 9cc's in a 10cc band. I'm starting to think something is wrong. I am getting my biking in everyday, but I can't seem to get motivated. Maybe it's that snow that is coming down here. I am so ready for spring. Well, hqave a good evening and if I don't post again soon, HAVE A HAPPY EASTER.
  20. Peaches - DH says to go to Dunkin' donuts instead. LOL I have to also ditto Phyl's , Karri and Lindas responses. I went into this journey, expecting the band to do most of the work. WRONG. Don't let anyone tell you that you are taking the easy way out. We are working just as hard as any old Joe off the street to lose weight. Karri - hope you can eat soon. TTYL
  21. Hi Archer I am 58 years old. 5'9" and started my journey at 291 pounds. I had high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, bad knees, high cholesteral, high triglicerides. I take 3bp pills a day. I started out with uncontrolable sugar levels. I took 88 units of Landis, sliding scale of regular insulin at meals, 2 metformin and 1 advandia per day. That was back in july when I was banded. I have lost 75 pounds...........38 units of Landis and 2 metformin per day. My c-pap number is 18....but I need to get that checked. I think it is too high now. My cholesteral and triglicerides are now in the normal zone. Hope this makes sense to you and helps you.
  22. Read a couple more pages. I'm slowly catching up. It's time to respond. Karri - after seeing your pics, you'll easily reach goal when they remove the excess skin. Just be sure to donate all that spare skin. Someone out there will love you for it. I owe it to my little angel granddaughter Jayli to mention it to you. Peaches - (I think) yes, I live in Michigan. I hate to drive so sharing rides would work for me. It would probably be closest to go through the UP but I'm, not sure about going across the bridge. The ferry is a good idea, but it is expensive. I checked it out a couple years ago. I just can't commit myself at this time. Hubby is usually pretty easy going but since he is retired, he's a little weird about some things. Sounds like fun. GOT A FEW MORE THINGS TO DO BEFORE BEDTIME SO I'LL CHECK IN TOMORROW. BYE
  23. Jackie - GREAT JOB ! ! ! Give yourself a great big pat on the back. I am so proud of you. Wish I could say the same. My problem are those robin egg malt ball easter candy. Thank God Easter is next week. Karri - I guess I missed something here, but I'll find it as soon as I find the time to read the past posts. To me, 10 pounds isn't a big difference between goals. Especially if you're getting plastic surgery. I can tell right now that by the time I get close to goal, I'm gonna have lots of excess skin. Do you remember the kids book "The Saggy Baggy Elephant"? That's me. Both upper and lower arms, upper thighs, belly and boobs...........all wrinkled and jiggly. HAVE A GREAT DAY. HAVE I MENTIONED I AM GLAD TO BE BACK??
  24. I'm back. Trying to catch up here and everywhere else. (been on this computer for about 5 hours so far) I think I've make it through about two days worth of posts here and things sound pretty heavy. So, I thought I'd just skip to here and post and then go back and read tomorrow. Florida was nice, my mom drove me up a wall, exersized everyday at the YMCA for at least an hour and my mom took me out to dinner almost every night. I think I made some pretty good choices.......lots of wraps, no burgers and fries. (well, just once but then they got stuck) And I think I even managed to lose a few pounds. Janet, I LOVE pasta. What is this fake pasta you mentioned here. I think I would like that. YUM ! ! Count me in on your girls getaway in July. Sounds like fun. I am going to sign off here. I am exhausted and the print is starting to get pretty blurry. So, if I don't get back to reading past posts, tell me anything important that I have missed and I will check back in tomorrow. IT IS GREAT TO BE BACK ! ! I MISSED YOU.
  25. Okay, I don't want to leave anyone out here but my memory is getting really bad so, I will just give a generalize post here. HOUSEWORK?? I hate it. I'd love to have a housekeeper, but since I'm a stay at home mom, i'd feel guilty. My house isn't too dirty, or should I say, not cluttered. Now that DH is retired, he runs the vacuum and dishwasher. I don't mind laundry. I can't remember the last time I dusted. As for the lapband doing all the work. Man, I have to agree with Janet here. The reason I went with the band is that I thought it would do the work, and I could eat pretty much what I wanted. WRONG. I have a girlfriend that had bypass surgery. She wouldn't even consider lapband because she wanted to change her eating habits. She is almost two years out and has lost 66 pounds. I'm six months out and have lost 71 lbs. Maybe I'm being a little boastful, but I worked danged hard to lose those pounds. She lost 66 by doing nothing. So what?? I'd say she didn't learn or change to many of her eating habits. That seems like a small amount of weight lost for bypass surgery. Jackie, have your friend come here. Whenever I feel discouraged, this site really perks me up. My family teases me, but I sure do appreciate all the encouragement I get here. Tell her to log on. She doesn't have to post unless she is comfortable with it.......but being a lurker is very beneficial. Ruby. Glad you're feeling better. TIME TO FIX DINNER. HAVE A GOOD EVENING. TTYL
