Dr. Quinones?
I paid $4500 in January. There is a Facebook group called "our journey to a healthier life" which is not exclusive to Dr. Quinones but the vast majority of users and the moderator are Dr. Quinones patients.

Dr. Quinones?
I had a fabulous experience with Dr. Quinones. I would highly recommend him and his entire staff. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

Dr Quinones?
I was sleeved 1/28/2014. I had a fabulous experience. Santa fe hospital is very small, only 3 patient rooms so at the most all Dr. Q ever does is 3 surgeries a day. He is very personable,he comes in and explains the whole surgery, takes time to answer any questions and then comes in to talk and check on you every day. The staff are great. The nurses don't speak English well but there is a translated there 24/7 to help with whatever you need. I am deathly allergic to many antibiotics so I was very worried about being given the wrong ones - but no fear they wrote instructions on my wrist band and IV bags which were checked each time - I felt.perfectly safe. I have had no pain no complications at all and have lost about 60lbs in 6 weeks. I would recommend him to anyone.

Just wanted to update that I had surgery with Dr. Q in January. The experience was absolutely fabulous. I have nothing negative to say.

Dr quinones was my second choice. Went back and forth between him and dr ortiz at the OCC. He was, honestly, better than any US doctor I have been to. Santa Fe is small - only 3 patients at a time. Never more than 3 surgeries a day. There is a translator there 24/7. Dr. Quinones actually comes in and talks to you every day. And they still call me (surgery in January) about once a week to check up on me. I cannot tell you how pleased I was with the care I received.

Second guessing my decision for surgery in Mexico...
I am the health insurance manager at my company and I went over and over this with my insurance broker. The truth is, if your insurance does not cover the procedure it will most likely not cover complications. But here is the thing, it doesn't matter if you self pay for the procedure in the US, Canada or Timbuktu. Going to mexico has nothing to do with getting complications paid for or not. This fact actually helped me to decide Mexico was best for me. I researched and had total confidence in my doctor (Dr. Quinones) but with any surgery I also knew there was a chance of complications. I elected to stay in mexico a couple of extra days, thinking if anyajor complications came up Dr. Quinones could address them (at a quarter of the cost of a self pay Surgeon here in the US). I am a week out now, just got home yesterday. I feel great and have had no issues at all - not even any pain. Of course, I don't know what the future holds and I could have some kind of complication come up. If it does I will have to deal with it and I know my insurance won't cover it but again that has nothing to do with Mexico and I would have to deal with that possibility no matter where I had surgery.

Discouraged
I am the benefits manager at my company, I tried to get us a wls rider for our insurance and we couldn't even find a company that would offer us one. Seems like a lot of insurance companies are only offering wls coverage for really large groups ( my company is only about 250). I too will be going to mexico in January.
