  1. I am (was) going to have a Lapband installed in 6 months. I just read in the literature that the hospital gave me, that after surgery and from that point forward, I should avoid all painkillers. This includes aspirin, advil, aleve, etc. Wait a minute!!! I use painkillers for a variety of things at different times such as headaches, etc. If I'm supposed to avoild them after having a lapband inserted, I may need to re-think my decision. Taking a bab aspirin a day can be lifesaving to men especially.

    Pre Op Diet

I'm five months away from surgery and i've been put on a diet by my primary physician and nutritionist. I've lost 12 lbs so far and i'm determined to do it. i'm tired of being fat and i'm tired of being tired. i am already feeling better.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

calories in vs. calories out. if you're going to lose weight you gotta decrease the calories in and burn calories (out). if you're not losing weight, look to behavior changes not just the lapband. i haven't had the surgery yet but it has been ingrained into me by a psychologist, nutritionist and my surgeon that lapband is ONLY a tool.
  4. My parents are trying to talk me out of Lapband. They said it will "ruin my entire life". It will change my life but I want to be reasonable and not so head-strong for Lapband that I will not even consider anything else.

    For Just Us Guys

I'm having a lap band in January of 08 because my insurance requires a 6 months prior supervised weight loss thing. I'm kinda worried about taking the time off from work. I work for a large US corp and the HR dept requires doctor's notes for literally everything under the sun. I may just take a week of vacation time and bypass the HR BS. I'm 35 and I haven't been thin in several years. I can't wait but I know i'll miss my diet Pepsi (kidding of course?).

    Champaign Illinois Anyone? Central area?

I live south of Springfield, IL and I just met with Dr. Max Hammer who'll do the procedure at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL. He'll do all of my fills etc. They have a great informative pre-op program in place and gave me a three ring binder filled with Lap Band infomation and what to expect. It is really great to be so informed months before I'm having the procedure.
