  1. I have not had the surgery yet but from what I understand from reading on this board is people go through periods of stalls then it starts back up again. I have seen some people have stalls at 3 weeks. But I also did read that someone said they were eating too many nuts and once they cut that out they started losing again....
  2. If I decide to do the surgery I will borrow from my 401k. You are just paying yourself back plus interest so not too bad.
  3. Which hospital did you guys have your surgery at?
  4. Yes, trying to make a good decision. I just cant find much unbiased info out there. I do take the opinions on this board to help with my decision. So many positive experiences is helpful and they cant all be fake LOL
  5. Ok, it took me a minute to get the joke LOL. I was thinking I never heard of him lol
  6. So I take it you are going soon? What date? I do like that there is Sooo much positive feedback. Coordinators for both doctors have been very quick to respond to me.
  7. I don't see as much feedback about Dr. Lopez? Are his sleeve sizes the same as Dr. Garcia? I see a lot of positive feedback about Dr. Garcia but I am leaning toward Puerto Vallarta location and he is not doing surgeries there right now. Also, what ways are you guys researching besides word of mouth on this forum. I have tried googling the doctors names and don't have much luck finding anything out except their own websites. I don't mind calling them to ask questions but I feel better if I can find information on them from independent 3rd party sources. Here is the states there are a lot of ways to find out how safe a doctor is, etc and since I am not familiar with Mexico's ways of tracking safety- I feel lost. I did find a way to see if a hospital meets the National certification but I don't see any TJ hospitals on the list.
  8. How did you like going to Puerto Vallarta vs going to TJ? I like the area better, but don't like that its $1000 more.
  9. What doctors charge the fee for the plus one? How much roughly is the fee?
  10. Yes, true- I am finding a lot of consistency across the board.
  11. How did you find complication rates? I would think that if they weren't good they may not tell the truth?
  12. That's a good idea b/c I am getting little details every time I read a post on each doctor but then start to confuse them together. LOL
  13. How do you find these ratings you are talking about? I have also seen people say complication rates. Is there a website that helps with these questions-a partial website?
  14. Well I am definitely on a budget so that will be a huge factor too or I would have just done it here in the US. I did look at the plane tickets and they are more also for sure. I will likely be borrowing from my 401k but I can only borrower a certain percentage so will likely have to come up with the difference so we shall see what I can do I figured the cost is what is sending most people to TJ. I have been telling my hubby that a lot of people are going and no one is expressing concerns of safety etc etc.
  15. I think its more the area and competition. The same doctor's price in TJ was $4650 roughly.
  16. Yes, I think the area is a little more costly and maybe less competition as well. That's the price I was quoted recently. It looks so nice there and having a newer hospital makes it more appealing. I think it justifies the higher price. Plus I have to talk my husband into letting me do this and he is not enthusiastic about TJ, but there are no warnings for PV...even old ones so that is helpful to appeal to family.
  17. Ok, any recommendations here and why did you like them so much? I have seen several names over and over again so these are who I am researching: Dr. Garcia, Dr. Lopez, Dr. Illan, and Dr. Villanzuela. Some of the things that I want or like are: Surgery in hospital, not a clinic; like that hospital and staff are clean/sterile-good equipment; would be good if dr and staff spoke good or decent English; Safety and Cost; Low complications during visit and post op; quality care during and directly after; follow up. The more I read, the more I change my mind on someone or consider someone new. I really like the idea of Puerto Vallarta since it seems safer and newer facility, however, I realize it cost more to go there? But I see so many people have gone to TJ and haven't had any issues so confused
  18. How much was the total cost for Dr. Lopez in Puerto Vallarta?
  19. Can you tell me who you found to help you with your post op care? I noticed you were in GA also. Thanks!
