  1. I just wanted to let the military spouse around me know that Fort Campbell has a bariatrics clinic and they do offer the Vertical Sleeve and everything is paid for by tricare. I went in on the 16th to my doctors appointment and within two days was approved by tricare. I also have my first appointment with general surgery on the 7th of August. So for everyone that was not sure if tricare paid for the sleeve or if it is offered I know Ft. Campbell does do it. I just has to have my PCM send in a referral and that was it. Hope this helps!

    3 days post surgery update

That doesn't sound so bad. Were you scared before you went in for surgery? It's kind of freaking me out a little bit.
  5. Hi everyone. I am a 27 year old mother of three and weigh (223) at 5foor 2inches tall and just found out a week ago that I qualify to have the surgery and my first appointment is August 7th. Now that I have talked with my husband I have decided to do the vertical sleeve surgery instead of the bypass that my doctor suggested to me. I have tons of questions but I guess my number one concern is about complications. I have never had any type of surgery and the thought of actually being knocked out and under the knive scares me to death. What complications should I worry about and what could I do to prevent certain complications from happening? Also if there is any advise that you might recommend for preparring for the surgery please let me know. Thank you all in advance.

    Approved... Now what?

Thank you. I hope mine goes that fast. I've been working with my regular doctor for a year and have lost 46 pounds and have had all my blood work done so maybe mine will move along as yours did.

    Approved... Now what?

I went to my original doctors visit the 16th and then the doctors office called me on the 22nd to let me know when I meet with the surgeon. I am a military spouse and using tricare insurance. I'm guessing it went so fast because they are all in the same hospital.

Maybe we could go through the process together and keep each other updated on what we are doing next?

    Any Tennessee Sleevers Out There?

I'm from Clarksville but just getting startedy first appointment is 8/7 so excited
  16. That's not such a bad wait time I'm not sure if there is a wait list here or not
  17. I was just wondering how long from your first appointment does it take to actually get your surgery ????
  18. I was just wondering if anyone was around where I live that was going to be sleeved? Or is there any other military insurances users that can tell me more about how the military process is done?
  19. I would be too It's exciting to know your about to get something that can literally change your life. I hope you get the call soon.
  20. Also I saw where everyone says tricare doesn't cover the surgery but I got approved within two days time frame so I know that they at least offer the surgery if the post has a bariatric clinic.
  21. Well I have been working with my Primary Care doctor and a nutritionist for the last year I have went from 269 to 223 but over the last few months I've just hit a plateau and nothing is happening not gaining nor loosing so he suggested the surgery at my doctors visit on the 16th. He wanted me to do bypass but I looked at it and researched it and it's just not for me so I decided on the sleeve. Maybe that is why it didn't take as long to get me in because I had already been working with him and maintained my weight ???? I'm not sure. I just thought it was weird b.c everyone on here is having to wait months and even yrs to get approval.
