  1. I'm scheduled for my BR in Sept. and a little scared about it. I wouldn't mind have some more details... (Pain, how much you had taken off, how big you're going to be, etc.) Thanks and good luck.
  2. I hate to be the poop of things here but I haven't been able to have ANYTHING for breakfast since I was banded in Aug. of 07. My Dr. says that some people just can't handle anything in the morning because we are so dehydrated from the night. I can't even get down a few sips of tea (let along a carnation instant breakfast, yogurt or cottage cheese). I wait a few hours and then have a protein drink handy to sip on. Usually by noon I can get down a yogurt. Sounds bad but it works. I'm almost at my goal.....and my Dr. says it's not really that uncommon. Good luck.
  3. I was just wondering how your doing since you got an un-fill. The same thing happened to me a few months ago. I was too tight so I has a quarter taken out. Then I ate like a horse!!! for 2 weeks straight. I could eat anything and as much as I wanted. Also gained 3 lbs but I thought that was ok since I hadn't ate in so long. So.... I went back to the Dr. last week and he put the quarter back in (he actually wanted to put 1/2 in!!). He said that I needed the fill because of what I had gained and how much I was eating (plus I was hungry in between meals too). I have been at this now for one week and can't eat again and am getting sick when I do. I don't know where the happy medium is but I have found out that if I drink a lot of water during the day I can usually get some food down and it stays down awhile. Don't know if that helped or not but I thought you would be happy knowing your not alone.
  4. Hi, I'm from Colver... Are you originally from Ebens.? I was banded in August of 07... Wonder if I know you??
  5. Sorry to hear of your troubles, I don't know how far he will go to replace his though. He was hoping that the company that makes the band will back it up... Hope things get better for you...
  6. I have a friend in my support group that self paid and his band is defective, according to our Dr. He is really having a hard time trying to get it replaced. He has tried to contact the company to see if they will pay for a new band (since it is defective) and the hospital bill. Our Dr. said he will replace the band for nothing but the hosp. will charges over $20,000.00 for their facilities. Anyone have any ideas short of getting an attorney involved??
  7. By the way, my ticker is broke, I've actually lost a little over 50 lbs. but it doesn't show it. Gotta get on that too...
  8. Rumar, I was also thinking about doing a cleanse but can't figue out which one to do. I have been researching and there are so many out there!! What did you do for your test? Also, were you going to do that one again or a cleansing pill or juice? Let me know, I'm with you on this..
  9. Thanks girls, I thought I was going crazy. I was thinking about only getting a "half of a fill" this time anyway since I am restricted some. I have lost 6 lbs since my last Dr. visit, which is what he wanted, so I guess I'm on track. Next question, how do we really know when we hit our sweet spot?
  10. Help, Does anyone else feel that they are more restricted in the morning than in the evening? I was banded on 8-14-07 and got my second fill on Oct. 17th. Since the second fill, I have had a lot of restriction but only in morning, I can't really eat anything but I can drink without a problem. By evening I can eat just about anything I want and quite a bit of it if I want to. I go in for another fill this Wed. and I'm not sure if I need it or not. Seems like I'm banded in the am but not in the pm.....Crazy huh??
  11. Thanks StephC, Tonight is out, just too short of notice for me. I do have a Dr. appt. on Wed. and I am going to ask when (or if) he is going to organize just a band support group. Depending on what he says I may just see you at the next meeting. I really appreciate your help.....
  12. Hi, I think you and I are on the same track... I got banded August 14th and had my first fill on Sept. 26th. I have absolutely no restriction and can eat anything and as much as I want to. I did loose a total of 20lbs. but that was the pre-op diet. Just wondering how your doing? My cousin got banded on August 28th. and has had restriction ever since (with no fill yet!!) This is driving me nuts.......
  13. I don't know if you found a Dr. or not yet but I like near Ebensburg, PA. Thats kinda in the middleof Altoona, Johnstown and Indiana. My Dr. is Dr. Newline from Altoona but I know that Dr. Marley from Windber also does the Lapband. If you need more info, let me know.....
  14. OK what am I doing wrong? I was banded on 9-14-07. On the pre-op diet of shakes and salad I lost 23 lbs. Since the 14th. I have gained 5lbs. back. I figures that since I am on the liquid diet that I have probably had too much broth (sodium). I can't find the fat free and the low sodium broth so I chose the fat free. I was told that this is a time of healing and not to worry about the weight gain but I don't like it. Has anyone else gained weight after the surgery? :help:
  15. I'm scheduled for 8-14-07.... I'm anxious and can't wait to get going. My insurance and pre-op testing was a breeze, in fact it went so smooth that I wondered why it was so easy. I have UPMC Ins. though. I'm not really worried about the surgery or the month or so after, I'm more concerned about the long term life change. What about you?
