Two years down/year three starting
Violeteyes, Just like me you have put a bit of the weight back on. But, like you I am so grateful for the weight that I have lost. I honestly don't think I could put all the weight back on that I lost because I just can't eat near as much as I used to. I need to learn to live without ice cream. I swear I could eat it 24/7! Nope, this is not magic. The band takes work. I think before I got the band..no matter how many times I read that..I still thought of it as a magic cure! LOl! Mini

Two years down/year three starting
Hi Manatee, Yes, I am one of the May 07 bandsters who dropped off. Honestly, I have been doing really good until I got married in January. I am a bit discouraged now because I have gained 10-12 pds since I got married. I was doing really good on my own. Only keeping the right foods in the house. Now I have tons of stuff in there that's fattening and not good for me. Gaining the weight makes me feel like a failure and I am a bit down on myself. Still, I am very glad I had the band done. I am healthy again and I feel good about how I look. But, I feel like I am loosing controll and I don't ever want to gain back the 60 lbs that I lost. Help! How are you doing? Mini (Weazer)

KC Denton is in far North Texas in the Dallas-Ft Worth area..only about 30 miles till the Oklahoma boarder. Some doctores don't want to let you get to 3.5 but my doc trust me to tell him what I need. I am thankful for that. I didn't have enough restriction when I was under 3.5, but everybody is so different. Some people would be stuck at this fill. I really think I could use just a tad more..but it is fun to be able to eat anything..but just small bites and portions. I don't think my pouch is strectched out. Just love my band! It has changed my life! No more obsessing about food. It feels good to be normal. I love how I eat so much slower. It is hard to watch people shove giant bites of food in their mouths and realize that I used to do the same thing. I think if I lost my band today I would not eat as fast as I used to. I think that's where we run into problems of over stuffing ourselves. I don't know how much of this last 30-35 pds that I'll loose..but, I feel pretty and sexy right at this wght. If I have to stay here no problem. It's all about how you feel about yourself. Blessings, Weazer

Hey KC My doctor is in Denton Texas, Doctor Stewart. I am from North Texas Denton area. I was raised in Houston though. Thankfully I had good insur and it paid all the bill and the fills were only around 25 bucks I think. So I am up to 3.5 ccs. Now that I made the silly choice of changing my ins. I can't afford the fills. I will have to make do with what I have. I really need to be at least at 3.5 or i can eat too much. I can still eat anything I want. I had a big peice of liver for lunch. I no that sounds yukky, but I fiqured it would be good protein. Had no problem eating it. Also had a couple of bites of mashed potatoes. I did not eat breakfast today..my coffee and creamer usually suffice. Some days I make myself eat some dry cheerio's or something because I know it's healthy. I think I will go with more protein tonight after my fall off the wagon yesterday. It will help me get back on track. I am glad you like the 5 day pouch test. It was good to get back on liquids and it wasn't hard at all because you can have all you want. Good way to restart your motivation. It's great all the info we get from each other. Glad to get to know you too! Weazer

Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test This can be used to just get yourself back into eating right. Instead of using it to test your pouch. Really works good. Plus that's a good website to puruse. Weazer

Hello Kaye! Had a great weekend and only blew it one day..yesterday. I wasn't even hungry then my daughter cooked a batch of brownies and the smell had me salavating. I ended up pigging out on them with some icecream to wash them down. But, my theory is that it was the only time I blew it all week. I feel slimmer this week. I can really notice a difference in how I look and I think I will reach goal this month..(to get into the 170's). I think that tricking the metabolism by blowing it once a week or so..may kick the metabolism back into gear..at least that my ferverent prayer! Thanks for all the good info. I have had a prescripton for something like Ali before. I don't think I need it now because I eat very little fat. However it would have helped yesterday! I am getting so excited about how I am feeling physically. I feel so much better about how I look too. I feel ten years younger! I know you must feel great too. Ms. Kitten - Welcome... How much wght have you lost total? Have you tried the 5 day pouch test to get you back on track? I'll look up the link and attach it. It really helped me and some others get back on track. Weazer

KC, How sweet of you to reply. I think this is a great thread. I was hoping it keeps going! Well, it sounds like you are doing really good! Let's work at keeping each other motivated. Seems like we are similar in how we are handling the band..and our age is the same..cool! you said you started taking Ali when you eat something fattening. What is that? No I don't think I've heard of the Barium thing. See that's why I love these threads..I learn so much! I switched insurance after I had the band and my new ins does'nt cover the fills. So next year after I change back..maybe I'll have the barium thingy. I am at 3.5 cc's in a 4cc band. Pretty tight, but I can mostly eat anything I want even Pizza or bread if I take tiny bites. It takes me an hour to eat 2 pc's of pizza..sometimes I do PB the first couple of bites then my band seems to just relax and open up..weird. Have a wonderful holiday weekend..I will be working hmmpppfffft !!! Weazer

Is anyone stuck?
Hello all, I had my band installed May 2007. I am one year out. I started out at 232lbs and am now at 180. Thats a 52 pd wght loss. I would like to loose 30 more. Anything at 150 or below. I am 5'6. I have been at this wght for 3 months..can't seem to get off this plateau. The funny thing is that this is the weight that i could always diet down to before I had the band. Then I would get discouraged and blow it and gain all of the weight back. At least now I won't gain the weight back! I love this band but I am not where I thought I would be in a year. But, I finally accepted the reality that this is not magic..it does take a tremendouse amount of dedication to take the wght off. I am getting there and no that I will succeed! I have gone from a size 18 to a 14 in one year. I am off of the Blood Pressure medicine. I feel so much better. I am just a very slow looser. I say that I stick to around 1200-1500 cals a day. What has slowed me down is that I don't exercise. So it's my own fault. I do fall off the wagon from time to time and eat slider foods that I shouldn't. I know what I do wrong. I will get it right one day at a time. Blessings, Weazer

Funny things happen when you start to age.
Miss Vicki, Thanks for the advice. I know why I used to overeat. This surg has helped tremedously...I don't think it's a head problem why I am reverting to sweets..I think it's a band is too tight problem. The sweets are just so much easier to eat. I think Denise is right about maybe needing a bit of fill taken out..maybe going from 3.25 to 3 cc's. maybe when I can eat a bigger variety of foods again..I won't need to eat the easy stuff. Thanks friend, Lisa

Thanks y'all Densie, what is your fill level at in what size band. You may be right about having a tiny bit taken out. Lisa

Denise, About the sweets..they are just so much easier for me to eat! But not nutrious. Here is what I ate yesterday...this has not been the ususal for me..but I am afraid I am slipping back into my old habits. Breakfast - coffee w/chocolate creamer - a Hershy's bar lunch - small cup of chili w/side of freeto's - sm cobbler - sm coke dinner - small cup mashed potatoes - Two bowls of ice cream! What an awful day! Where is the nutrition? Why so many sweets? Why the cokes? I ususally only have a coke once or twice a week. I am slipping into bad habits. I just have so much trouble eating meat and bread anymore that I am starting to lean more to the sweets. This is bad. I need to figure out what to do. Any ideas? Lisa

Nope I refuse...I get really connected and supported on these lap band forums..I'm going to keep looking for you 50 somethings..I want to know if the weight is coming off or slowing down like me. I am still in the low 180's I so want to get into the 170's. I am eating too many sweet things lately. Lisa

Vicky, A PB is a productive burp. You could call it throwing up but it really isn't because it dosn't come from your stomac. What happens is that you take a bite of food...within seconds it goes to your band and your band says..nu uh..not gone let you by..and you run to the bathroom fast...because there is no stopping it. It comes right back up just as it went down. Sometimes...even your water or what ever you are drinking will do that. It is supposedly not bad for your teeth because there is not acid in it as it never went to your stomach. You will be doing it from time to time..it is pretty much inevitable. Feel free to ask any questions..now that I am getting close to my first year...I am almost an oldster! Chell, Fortunatly for me...my family doctor had been seeing me for a couple of years and she new that I had dieted..tried her diet pills (Meridian) ove the course of a couple of years..so she wrote a letter to the ins co and I didn't have to do the 6 month diet. If I remember correctly..I started the ins process in Jan..and had the surg by May...it could have went allot faster if the girl at the doctor office would have pushed that paperwork faster. She really had a cavalier attitude about hurrying for me! Good luck. Once you have the band..you will drop the wght fast. Blessings, Weazer

Vicki - I don't mind getting fills at all. I love having the option of getting one when I start eating more. Plus my PA does a little numbing shot first so they don't hurt. What I don't like is when I have a slightly to tight fill. But, I had to be aggressive with my fills because I am stubborn and will eat too much with out the tightness. It has really paid off. The wght is coming off perfectly. Yesterday I had an entire day without a PB (I usually have at least one a day). I am happy about that. To me it means that it is loosening up a bit on it's own. Also, the more wght I loose...my band should get looser to (that's according to my doctor). maybe i wont have to have an unfill after all. Just be sure that going into this you know that it is not easy, it does take work, persaverence and will power (but the band makes it much easier that it was before. It is a blessings). In years past when I would start to gain wght back...I would never get back on track. The band has made it possible to get back on track each set back. Now the wght loss is really showing! I love my band!!!!! Terry - Nothing better than a person with a sence of humor. Blessings, Lisa

Hi chell and Miss Vicki! Laugter is the best medicine! Chell, When are you having your surgey? I am so excited for you. I did my monthly weigh in on Feb 1rst and have lost another 4 lbs so I am down 51lbs! Whoo Hoo. So far this month I feel like I am really doing good on the wght loss...I feel it in my gut (ba dump pa) that I'm already down into the 170's. I am so happy this is working. Don't be fooled. It is allot of hard work and will power. You have to get adjustments even when you don't want to...or at least I did. I am at 3.25 cc's in a 4cc band so it is pretty tight. I am anxious to get my wght off and I will reward myself by having some taken out. Of course I'll be trying my very hardest to not gain the wght off. If I do start to gain back..I'll have to get it put back in. It does get alittle old eating soup and softer stuff all the time. Well, let us know how it goes! Praise be to God! Lisa

O.K. This is really hard...I have 4 1/2 months left to be in my forties. I will turn 50 in May! I'm telling you where did the years go! I never dreamed I would ever be 50! I had my surgery May 07. I have lost 47 pds and have 40 pds to go! Like someone said...where my other chin used to be is now just loose skin! And I relate to the other person that had the experience with the hand mirror! Sometimes when I get out of the shower and I of course don't have my glasses on..I'll catch a glimpse of this stanger in the mirror and almost run for the shot gun screaming..who are you..get out of my house! Then I see that it is just me! Boy, this all takes some getting used to! But, along with the fine lines comes a beauty inside that I wouldn't trade for the world. It is a true benefit of getting older. Wisdom. Dontcha just like yourself so much better than when you were younger and thinner. I sure do. I would'nt trade who I am today..for the skin or the body I had at 20. No way! Blessings y'all and I'll be part of the 50 group (ouch that hurt) even though I am still 49 and a half. Nanner nanner! Welcome Sleepy and tell your sister too! Hello everybody! You guys make my heart so happy each time I come to this site. I wish I could get the whole group of you in a room together....what an awsome group that would be! Geneva. I know what you mean about making the mountain of food and not being able to eat it...or not being tied to it. Isn't it great. I made a nice plate of food, alittle of everything...went and sat down to eat and was the last one finished. I was shocked at how fast everyone else ate! My goodness, I used to do that too. I just savored everybite...it is so much better. That is one of the things that I'm thankful for. Learning how to slow down! I still haven't weighed in. Last time I wghd on Nov 1 I was 192. I have a feeling I will be in the low 180's on Dec. 1rst. I have been doing really good..and am wearing most of my smallest cloths.... Blessing all! Weazer

I'm thankful that God blessed me with two beautiful daughters. I am thankful that my Mother is healthy and lives right around the corner. I am thankful for the roof over my head and the food in my cupboards. I am thankful for my car. I am thankful for my job. I am blessed beyond belief! Most of all I thank God for choosing me to be one of his saints! I don't know why he picked me...but I love him for it! Blessings, Weazer

Geneva, I have a 13 yr old that I worry about. I know she's a beliver in God and beleives that Jesus died for our sins...but l'm not sure that she is saved yet. All we can do is keep praying for them...really really really hard! Aloco53 (LOL) Welcome, soon you'll be a bandit too! This is one of the very best things I have ever done for myself. I believe that this surgery was a blessing from God for me. I am off my blood pressure meds...my skin looks ten years younger...I don't get winded easily. It's been a great experience. I know it will be for you too! Hollyberries (Cindy) Welcome, so glad you found us. I'm with ya on the peace thing. When ever I have a big decission to make...I hash it out with God and until I get that peaceful feeling I don't act upon it. That doesn't mean we won't continue to worry a bit...change can be a bit scary...but we can put our trust in the Lord. I have a feeling your going to be an inspiration to us all. Blessings my new friends! Weazer

Babygotback - God bless you too! Geneva - I didn't get saved till I was 43! I wish it happend sooner too but he wanted us to go through what we did so that we could learn and be able to identify with others that are just like we were. Boy, have I got allot to teach! How wonderful that you brought your hubby and kids to faith. That must be the highlight of your life! I think both of my girls are saved but, sometimes you can't tell the difference between having a intellectual knowledge of God and being a true believer of God. God was known to me all my life, I loved him and believed in Him with all my heart, but, I didn't trust Him enough to give him my sins and follow Him. Now, I trust Him with all my heart. I am redeemed! He washed me clean. I new it the minute it happened. It can't be denied if your lucky enough to feel the Holy Spirit wash over your heart! Blessings, Weazer

For those six months after band surgery
I'm six months out as of a week ago and my hair looks fine. It is long and I find pc's of it after I blow dry but not any more than usual. Also, I am half way to my wght loss goal! Blessings, Weazer
