Hi Chefcoll Here is the link to "Playaway". This was offered by my surgeon's office (and recommended at the psych eval as well) for those who either have anxiety, or think they might have anxiety. Apparently, from what I was told on Friday, you start listening to it once or twice a day prior to your surgery, and then they even apparently have you listening to it during the surgery as well. http://healthcare.playaway.com/ I have listened to it quite a bit since Friday...it's not too bad if you are in to guided imagery..and I sure do sleep well when I have it on.

I am absolutely beyond excited about the surgery! I was asked at least 4 or 5 separate times if I was excited for the surgery at my final pre-op appointment this past Friday, and they could clearly see that excitement was running through my veins. This has been a battle I have been fighting for my entire life, and 17 days I start to have the upper hand in the fight....FINALLY! I won't deny that I might have some nerves on that day, but I am super prepared, all of my lists are in place, all of my pre-op stuff is ready, post op stuff is almost ready, I have researched until the cows come home, and have spoken directly to several folks who have already been through the surgery, and I feel like I am as prepared as I will be. I am also using the guided imagery "Playaway" that my surgeon's office recommended, and it's been really helpful so far too. LET'S DO IT!!!

LizzyK - I have changed your name, added the other new folks, and noticed that bearman99 is our first Christmas Eve sleever! patbarry, I noticed that you didn't include a surgery date in your posts, or in your profile, so I have you listed under the "No date yet" list. If you have a date, and can provide that, then I can include you as apporpriate. Please let me know if you have any questions, or if anything doesn't look right! Crazy numbers so far! This should be FUN!

Welcome to the forum sleeve4ever. I have added you to the list that is back on page 71 for December 16. You'll find an amazing group of extremely supportive people here who truly cheer each other on in this journey we are all taking. For me, my insurance was approved 5 days after it was submitted. Everyone is different though, but we'll keep our fingers crossed that you get approved super quick! Again, welcome, and best wishes to you on your journey!

I have just arrived home from my final pre-op appointment. It went really well. This was a 'teaching' appointment - hour 1 was with the RN who kind of goes over all of the final details, and hour 2 is with the dietician. Everything looks great, and we're ready for the next 19 days to go by quickly. One thing the nurse said to me several times was do NOT cheat on the liquid diet pre-op, regardless of how bad you want to. She indicated that the surgeon's can tell, and will close you up if your liver hasn't shrunk. I'm sure much of that was to send a message, but since she mentioned it several times I thought I would pass it along. I'm rooting for each and every one of you!

Way to go everyone on your first day of pre-ops. Keep up the great work. We're all rooting for you.

Excellent advice friends! I appreciate that so much. Helps me feel more confident...I can make really good choices now, and moderate my eating really well here, but again, that is a controlled environment where I am making the food, and I am making the choices as to what to serve...this WILL be a great test because I won't have any control over what is served, and...let's face it...it IS Thanksgiving...the land of starches and carbs. I've had a good long discussion with my husband as well, and he will be there to help me and cheer me on through the really tough moments!
