  1. Yes it looks like the right one. This was suggested before and I took a look but what threw me was - for some reason - the threads are listed old to new ? - thanks so much for your help !
  2. Hello Glad I finally found this forum again. I live about an hour NE of KC would love to meet up with everyone at your next get together. I'm pre op and in dire need of confidence !!
  3. Thanks but I already looked on there and NOTHING on there. The one I saw had loads of recent posts and they had regular meetings in KC - it was definitely part of this website as this is the only one I go to. I'm at a loss.
  4. Well I'm officially losing my marbles. Before the website changed to it's new look there was a great local support group for Kansas City. I have looked and not been able to find them. I did find a few totally out of date KC support groups but they had virtually no one on them and some of the newest posts were ancient. Where did you all go ? Anyway I have decided I REALLY need to meet up with people who have had the surgery so if there is a support group in Kansas City, please let me know !! Thanks !!
  5. I am pre op and would really love to possibly meet others in KC who have had their surgeries. Am I in the right part of the website ?
  6. Sherry - yes definitely email me a photo would love to hear about how you're getting on - I'm so darn frustrated wanting to get this over and done with !!
  7. Hello to you - it's so good to be back on here. Well I have yet to get to Mexico for my surgery. I was hoping to go this month but it seems fate stepped in again. I need a pet/housesitter (my husband works out of state and I have no kids so I don't have as many options as others) my friend who would normally do this for me is now tending to her son who was involved in a terrible ATV accident last week. This is now the second time I have had to rethink dates again. Very frustrating !!
  8. I know EXACTLY what you mean. I felt like my mind (and imagination) was trying to sabotage me. I would have great days when I was gung ho and couldn't wait, then the next day I would be in a cold sweat and saying to myself "really ??? you are going to have surgery for this ??? and telling myself I could do this without surgery which of course is completely untrue because I would have done it if that was the case. You know there probably isn't a single thing I can tell you that will quiet your thoughts except I choose to focus on all the wonderfully happy people on this forum who are now enjoying new (and longer) lives. Feel free to message me if you like - my name is Kay -
  9. Well done Sherry !! - I've been out of the loop for awhile but I'm back and so glad to hear you're doing great !!
  10. He is going to be my doctor - I was supposed to be sleeved almost a month ago (oh boy I wish I had done it already) but now I have to reschedule - cannot wait to get this over and done with. Heard NOTHING but great things and you're right Omar is wonderful !!
  11. I'm in Kansas City too - would be interested to learn more too. Are you using insurance or self pay ? if self pay is it expensive?
  12. Your "friend" is deliberately distancing herself from you. This is her worst nightmare because soon you'll be buying cute outfits off the rack and enjoying the new you and she'll still be overweight. As for her not being able to afford self pay well boo hoo I'm going self pay and I didn't win powerball. Perhaps if she gave up trips out of town she could start saving for wls of her own and stop these infantile mind games.
  13. This isn't a friend, and she's not acting out of concern for you, this is jealousy. I'm sure you feel hurt right now, but you'll come to realize there are better friends to be made. You stay on track and do what is right for you !!
  14. That's completely natural. Try and get some sleep - before you know it - it will be all done and you'll be home and enjoying life !!
  15. Your post makes me very concerned for you. First off I am not a doctor and wouldn't presume to diagnose but I do have experience with depression in people close to me and this definitely sounds like a form of depression, you feel lost and isolated, no one understands you. First thing is call the office of your surgeon and ask for a referral to a counselor. Whether or not you know how to describe it, someone will know what to do for you. It sounds like you are mourning the loss of the old you and unable to embrace the bright future you have ahead. There is help for you, there really is - please pick up a phone and get into see someone who can treat you and help you through this. Good luck !!
  16. Very well put and a really good question. This is definitely something I have been struggling with as well. I was originally supposed to have my vsg October 5th but had to cancel at the last minute. But now I am in the process of figuring another date for my surgery and I have had this exact question rattling around my brain too. I don't know the answer - but here is what I know about myself. I have tried every possible weight loss idea out there. I had tremendous success with Nutrisystem - I lost sixty pounds and was working out and looking fit - but here I am now almost back to my highest weight again. At the end of the day, NOTHING has worked long term - and surgery is most definitely a last resort for me.
  17. Hello ! can you send me the link to the FB Page ? connerbias@yahoo.com I haven't set a date yet but it'll be November
  18. Well after my false start October 5th - I'm going to rebook for Dr Illan in November - no idea what date though.
  19. Isn't it funny - you knew you were losing weight but sometimes it takes a couple of photos to bring the reality home. You look like two different people - fantastic - congratulations !!
  20. don't loose your temper
  21. Thank you, I thought I was the only person driven nuts by that. And while we're on the subject - It's DINING table not DINNING table and my all time favorite - It's a whole OTHER world not NOTHER (or even NUTHER) - but wait I'm still not finished - "It's De Ja Vu ALL OVER AGAIN ??? really ??? - what do you think De Ja Vu means ?? - okay, I'm done
  22. Thank you so much - I'm glad you got a giggle out of our silly postings - it got way out of hand but I know we did really have a good laugh the other night !! - That's a good idea about picking a date of significance - will have to give that some thought.
