I had my lapband when I was 55 years old. I have lost 117 lbs. I did put back a few lbs but I'm going back to eating the way I did at the beginning. So in the last 6 weeks I lost 5 lbs. I have had many hard time the last few years. I loss my husband very suddening. He was my whole support system. I exercise 3 to 4 times a week. I'm having my knee replaced in about 3 weeks. I did so much damage to my knee there was no going back. The band does work after 50 but it also work on your part. IF you are doing this for you it will work but if you are doing it for someone else I don't think it will work. This is your time and make some time for yourself. You deserve it.

There is a group of us that get together every Monday except the first one of the month. We meet at Wegman's upstair about 7:15 pm. We are more of a peer to peer group. We talk about are problem and how to change them. Some come every week, some only come once a month. If you not busy come and join us next Monday night.

I got banded 09/07/07. I never even asked what size band I had until about 3 months after surgery. I ask the doctor and was informed I had a 10cc band. I never asked how much I had in my band. About 3 weeks ago I had a fill. It was to tight so back to the doctor to have some removed. That is when I found out I had 8cc in a 10 cc band. Now I have 7 but I know know that 8cc is to much and 7cc is to little. I going in 3 weeks so I will ask for .2cc and go from there.

I just had my 6th fill. Had my surgery 9/07. Had some problems after the surgery .My large incision opened up 5 weeks after surgery and took about 5 weeks to heal. So I did not have my first fill until 3 months out. I go to the doctor office about every 6 weeks. Every other time I get a fill. They have a very hard time doing so because of the scar tissue. So far I have lose 83 lbs. Has this ever happen to anyone else

I was banded 09/07 and I have last 81 lbs so far. I knew I would have a hard time to begin with. I have many medical problem plus unactive thyroid. So it can be done by anyone. You will feel like a new person. :thumbup:

Still need to lose another 90lb to get to my goal. It's been slow going had alot of other medical problems but I'm hanging in.

NJ is great for me and I will come if it in NJ or NY. Secaucus would be good for me since I work there. If you need any info on buses I could get it for you since my husband works for a bus company:thumbup:

MY doctors said I'm doing great but sometimes I wonder. I asked the doctor what they expected me to loss and he told me altogether 191 lb that would make me 113. MY granddaugther had a fit. she said don't they know you are 57 and had 3 kids and I would weight less than her and she wears a 3. I don't think they had size 3 when I was young

I have been on 10 cruises over the last 18 years. I have found with the last 3 cruises we have taken it has been less formal. A nice pant suit or dress would be fine. Hope you enjoy Alaska. I was one of my best cruises I have even taken. I told my husband I would like to do it again.

I have had diabetes type 2 for 29 years. I was on 3 pills a day. since I had the surgery in Sept I only take 1 pill a day. As far as I'm concerned this is the best hing I ever did. I have already loss 53 lbs. Still have ot watch what I eat but half the time when I do eat after about 5 or 6 bites I'm full.:biggrin:

It has been show going. 5 weeks after surgery I ended up back in the hospital because my incision opened up. I took 6 weeks for that to heal. Had my first fill in late November, second in January and third last week. I have also had the flu and bronchitis. The flu shot did not work this year. Because of being sick I have not been able to exercise as much as I would have liked to. Hopeful with the weather changing so will my health. Even with all my health problem I have been able to lose 52 lbs:thumbup:

Right after I had my surgery everytime I ate I would burp. Now 6 months out I burps a couple times a week . It drives my husband nuts.

I had no pro-op diet. Had surgery in Sept . Loss 42 lbs so far. Am very happy with the results.

My large incision Started opening up 5 weeks after surgery while I was on vacation in Branson MO. I went to the hospital there . THey had no clue about lapband surgery but a bandage on it and gave me some bandage so I could change it because of being on vacation.and gave me some antibotic. The next day we flyed home and went straight to the hospital. Within a hour they admited me. I stayed for 3 day on antibotic. When I was sent home I had to change the dressing 3 times a day with a wet dressing and then a dry one for 3 week until it almost healed. I'm doing very well now but it is still not healed all the way and the doctor told me I had to heal before I can have my first fill. Hopeful I get it in 2 weeks. Got banded on 9/7. Had to stay over because of my diabetes. Sleep most of Saturday. Had very little pain. After 5 days I'm very hungery but when to doctor today am doing very weel and he said I can have mushy food on friday . I can not wait. I really thought the pain and everything else would be worst then it was. Lost 4 lbs already.

I tell the people that work in my office. They are all very supportive. My biggest supporter is my boss. He had it done 4 years ago said it was the best thing he ever done. I have also told all my brothers and sister (8 altogether) and children and they support me all the way.

Getting banned on September 7. Paper work sent to insurance on Aug 3 approved Aug 10
