  1. I was sleeved on July 15th. I have not been able to eat anything except for jello, pudding, yogurt, and broths. If I eat something like chili, chicken salad, eggs, egg salad or anything in the soft stage it comes back up. Even if I puree these foods it still comes back up. I am so depressed from not being able to eat anything this just sucks. I am going on a vacation with lots of family this week and I am dreading it because this years plan is to eat out for dinners to save the hassle. So now I have to sit and watch everyone eat all the things I once could and sip more BROTH. Definitely at this point wish I didn't have this sleeve done. I am down 43 Lbs since the surgery but I have been miserable the whole time. When will this get better because it seems like never an my surgeon has no answers except to focus on fluids if eating is a problem.

Wouldn't that have been looked at with the GI test?

    Eating troubles

Creamy soups come up too. I had an upper GI test done last week for my issues and was told my hiatal hernia is too tight causing reflux. And also which is still unanswered is once the food hits my stomach I get instant turmoil and it comes back up from there too not just from above the hernia.

    Eating troubles

Not to get into a sad story but food was the only thing I could count on when my parents split up when I was 12. That is until I met my wife. I just feel like I lost a big part of me by not being able to eat and feel normal doing so. We went to the 99 on Saturday with my brother in law, wife, and two year old son. My wife got the burger I once loved, my brother in law got the boneless buffalo wings and potato skins which was my go to menu item and my son had mac and cheese. I ordered chicken noodle soup and had two sips of the broth and then felt nauseous. Everyone finished their food except me and the waiter brought the manager over to ask me if there was a problem with my soup because I barley touched it. This was just awkward because people were looking to see what would have caused this to happen. I explained my situation which I am not ashamed of but this was a first that I never thought I would have to deal with. I just wish I could fast forward to me living normal again or rewind and undo what has been done.

    Eating troubles

Yes I have been in touch with the surgeon's nurse and my nutritionist and they are stumped. I have also been in the hospital twice for dehydration due to really bad nausea from eating. Once I would try something and it would come back up I cant even get all my fluids in either. They have put me on multiple different pills and patches which help a little but i still can't hold any soft foods down which is the stage i should be on now. This has been a journey i wasn't expecting to be this bad.
  7. Has anyone else had a Hiatal Hernia repaired and it is too tight? I am just over one month post op and i cant eat anything except for jello, pudding, or yogurt. Every time i try to eat anything it goes down and comes back up. I also feel like food gets stuck in my throat. I have had to go into the hospital twice now due to dehydration because when i try to eat anything i get sick and can't tolerate any liquids. They tell me that the Hernia repair is still "swollen" and it will take time for me to be able to eat and the doctor moved me back to liquid stage for a few more weeks. If anyone else dealt with this how long did it take before you could eat? Im so depressed about not being able to eat.
  8. Hello all. I was cleared to eat soft / moist foods on wednesday. When I was eating pureed foods and now when eating the soft / moist foods, the food comes back up with every bite. After I finish eating ( usually 6-10 bites in ) this feeling continues for a half hour to an hour. Does anyone else experience this and does it go away, if it goes away how long will it last? My Dr said it may be from the hiatal hernia they repaired or it could be a food temperature problem? Please help because this is gross and discouraging me from moving off of liquids( which I am sick of ).
  9. I'm at the same point as you and had to watch my wife and son eat mac and cheese tonight! SO HARD! I feel your pain!
  10. I also have two dents in my stomach. My Dr told me that the healing will cause the incisions to retract as the scar tissue heals. She said they will get better throughout the year and should be gone after 1yr or so. I also have a lump of scar tissue which my Dr said will also get softer after a year.
  11. Happy Friday everyone! I ate scrambled eggs for dinner and held them down this time! For the last three days I feel like I have something in my throat all the time? It is kinda discouraging me from drinking or eating the things I can eat at this stage. Does anyone have/had this going on, does it go away? Last question for today is does the burping after every bite I take go away or subside? I have never burped this much in my life. SW: 326 Surgery day W: 295 CW: 271 GW: not sure Sleeved: 7/15/13

    how about decaf coffee?

What is the reason we can't have caffine? Just curious.
  13. I am 1-1/2 weeks post op wondering when are you are able to sleep in a different position other than on your back? I tried laying on my side last night and it is a kinda uncomfortable but better than being on my back? I don't recall my surgeon telling me I couldn't sleep on my side or stomach until a certain time? I am a stomach sleeper normally and would love to get back to that. I tried laying on my stomach today and it isn't that uncomfortable...... But am I allowed to? Will it effect anything internally at this point?

  17. I had surgery July 15th and everyday I have felt completely physically drained. There are days that I meet both the protein and water requirements and there are days I don't. It doesn't seem to matter if I meet the requirements I still feel drained. Will this improve over time or am I missing something? Any guidance or advise would be great.
  18. Thanks everyone. My follow up appointment isn't until next Wednesday so we will see what happens.
  19. I did sleep during the day when I was on the pain meds. I didn't like how I felt on those so I stopped taking them 3 days ago and I feel better in that aspect. But no I sleep fine at night, I wake up occasionally from stomach discomfort but I sleep good. I walk 2-3 times a day because I know I should be moving not just laying around. I just feel like I should be feeling better than I do at this point. I guess i'm not considering the surgery that big of a deal even though it sure feels like a big deal.

    Calcium citrate

Try bjs bariatrics. I bought the calcium citrate by Calcet in lemon flavor. I don't like lemon but my Protein is chocolate so i didn't want everything to be chocolate. These are surprisingly delicious with great flavor and no horrible after taste. The link is below for you hope it works. If you spend $50 or more use promo code 435 that will give you $5 off your order. http://www.bjsbariatrics.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=bjb&Product_Code=celCalcCrmyLemon&Category_Code=calcium
