No I was not . Only to do what my insurance required which was a 5 year weight history from doctor and the usual EKG , chest X-rays and bloodwork . I went to the seminar for this the beginning of may and had surgery beginning of July .. Happened fast- IM GOING CRAZY
All it says in the "discharge instruction sheet" is : A clear liquid diet must be followed the first week after surgery or until you have your appt with your surgeon (which is Thursday) drink 4oz of clear liquid each out sipped slowly 48-64 oz each day for adequate hydration. Important to sip not gulp, any liquids you can see through without particles are ok. Then it gives me examples Then the last thing it says is when I schedule my appt with my surgeon ill be asked to me with nurse and dietitian to discuss what I'll be allowed to eat following that appointment .- IM GOING CRAZY
I mentioned this to my mom (I'm still young - 19 Monday) and she also said the doctor told you just liquids blah blah but ill try to go out and buy some . The past day in a half I've just been moody and sad and crying for no reason ugh- IM GOING CRAZY

I had surgery Monday the 8th and I have to be on clear liquids until Thursday , that's a week and 3 days ... I'm going insane . Then ill probably be on full liquids for another week . How come people are already having puréed food before even a week post op . I'm so jealous . It's making me depressed and I even cried over it .. I think the liquids are getting to my head . Needed to vent- Driving
My doctor told me as long as I feel well enough to drive and I'm not taking pain meds then go for it- Driving
I had surgery July 8th and I drove yesterday perfectly fine . I also don't take any pain killers and I'm almost positive that's the reason they don't want you driving .- Any july 8 sleevers?
I know what you mean ! I can't even have chicken broth literally the only things I can stand is Gatorade , water and occasionally an ice pop . I was hanging out with my friends yesterday and they made burgers and cheese fries .. It was literally torture . We can do it though !!!- Any july 8 sleevers?
I don't think I start protein until I see my doctor on Thursday , yesterday I felt so weak but the Gatorade I drank really helped . I've been staying positive during this whole process and telling myself ill be okay and recovery will go well and I am honestly feeling great for only being 5 days post op ! It's all about the positive mindset But ! My starting weight was 265 and as of this morning I'm 253- New here!
The only thing my insurance required was a 5 year weight history from my doctor . And also the usually blood work , ekg and chest X-rays . I went to a seminar around may 3rd and I had my surgery July 8th .. Went really fast !- Any july 8 sleevers?
- Light headed
I just purchased some so I'm hoping it will help ! I just feel so weak , I'm hoping because I feel so well already that on Thursday my surgeon will allow purée/mushy food . I neeeed something . Thanks guys :)- Light headed
I'm 4 days post op and so far everything had been great . A little heart burn but not too bad . But a few hours ago I started feeling a little light headed . I just feel like the clear liquids isn't enough for me . All I have been drinking is water and eating sugar free raspberry jello . Anything else makes me gag (juice/broths) I'm seeing my surgeon on Thursday but is there any recommendations ? Ill probably call him tomorrow .- Any july 8 sleevers?
I feel the same ! I just wanna like chew something even if I spit it out , I'm going insane . Right now I'm hanging out with friends (thankfully I'm well enough) they're all eating while I sip on some water .- Just a question.
I go to school for cosmetology and its all based on hours , I was sleeved on 7/8 and I'm really aiming to go back this Monday . I just hope ill be alright , I do people's hair/nails ect. I feel like the only thing that might bother me is the slight bending to wash hair and then using the blowdrier . Gonna hope for the best , can't miss hours :/- I feel like recovery is going too good ...
- I feel like recovery is going too good ...
I'm only 3 days post op and I feel great . I left the hospital the night after my surgery , I haven't had to take any pain meds . I was nauseous from the long car ride home but that's honestly the worst that's happened (knock on wood) I can walk, lay down , sit up fine . I took a shower with no problem today . It just all seems too good to be true . I'm very grateful . The only strange thing to me is my legs and arms get really tingly , like if I'm sitting with one Indian style and the other off the bed , my whole leg tingles , or if I'm on my phone laying down for a long time , my arm tingles . Is this a serious issue ?- Smoking !
- Smoking !
I know that to quit smoking is highly recommended before and after surgery .. However , my doctor never mentioned anything to me about it and I smoked my last cigarette the night before my surgery . I'm 3 days post op and haven't smoked , although I am craving a bit . Has anyone continued smoking after the surgery ? I'm very curious . I'm trying to not but I just wanna know what if Also , I'm a very active marijuana smoker and I also smoked the night before my surgery and I haven't since . I really don't wanna quit .. I need to look more into it . Does anyone else smoke marijuana ? I'm surprised my doctor didnt inform me of any of this before the surgery . - IM GOING CRAZY
