    Boost or High Protein Ensure

Hey did I mention it also contained 30 grams of protein? I keep some in my car for emergencies it tastes better cold but can be easily tolerated room or car temp. They also have bars or again for emergencies, at Trader Joes and Smart and Final you can buy the think thin bars.

    May sleevers results so far!

Hi I was sleeved on May 15th 2013. My heaviest weight was 236 pounds on a 5'2 1/2 inch body. I am on my scale 204 right now. I was last month on the 13th 213. I was very slow to loose as I was eating things I should not have eaten only very little of it. I only in 3 weeks lost one pound and my surgeon was upset! I really though I was doing well. He didn't! Well in the week since I saw him I am down to 204. I just eat cottage cheese with peaches, Greek plain white yogurt with cinnamon, sometimes half a banana, Progresso soups, some salad, raisin bran cereal with 1% milk. etc. Most foods to be honest are still very heavy in my stomach and I really don't enjoy eating too much anymore. It is a struggle emotionally but I will get thru it with God's help. I see my surgeon toward the end of Aug. and he told me that I had better be below 200 and I am sure I will be. Now that I know I am not able to eat just anything even though it was so little an amount.. Worst thing is I thought I was okay to do so. Glad I went in to talk to him.. Thanks for reading this. Sandy
  4. Karen I see you are having surgery on the 30th of the month. If you need any one to talk to let me know. I am at sandralira7@outlook.com. I will be praying for you. God is with you. He didn't bring you this far to let you down. He promised in Jeremiah a good future for you and you know He is only restoring you to the way He see's you. You are beautiful! God bless you.. Sandy.
  5. Dear Karen, I will pray for you and your decision. It was very hard for me as well to come to a decision about whether or not to have surgery but I knew there would be no other way for me to loose this weight. Currently I have gone from 236 to 204 and this is been only since May. I am I guess considered slowly loosing but it is okay. Praise God any way.I will be praying for you. Have you decided what you will do? I had the sleeve and it was a bit uncomfortable for me afterwards but I was eating the wrong kinds of foods and eating to quickly. still all in all I am glad I had the surgery and I am sure you will feel the same. God bless you. I will pray for you. Sandy

    Bowel movements

Hi, glad to help and also that my Kaiser 12 week education is being put into practice! According to Kaiser my insurance company and Physicians etc. it is common after a week to have your first bowel movement. There is simply not enough to come out and PLEASE I was told in the hospital don't strain to force it out. You can rupture something and we don't want that. You will be all right as soon as there is something a little bit more in your tummy. It is common for at least a week not to move your bowels! Hope this helps. God bless you.

    slow loser

Write down and count your calories is what I have been told. Also drink more protein and water plus move! That is what I am going to do. I am only 1 month out and was hoping for something more than what I have been seeing on the scale. . anyway you are 6 pounds lighter and that is good! I have also been told that the average loss is only 10 pounds per month so give yourself a chance to catch up too. The hardest part is over with Hon. You did it all ready. Surgery is now part of your past and not your future! Don't give up! God is on your side.
  8. Hi, I researched and my insurance would NOT pay for the sleeve. Period! I was told (FINALLLY AFTER MONTHS AND MONTHS OF ENQUIRING) by one of the women at the insurance office to "ask my union leaders" what to do about it. I was stunned to say the least. I considered the WLS to be pretty private so for me to have to go and lay all my laundry on their table was VERY embarrassing. Well the laying it down was worth it I am glad to say! .................... After being told two years that no they would NOT pay for it ( my blue cross insurance) : my union man told me to switch my medical over to KAISER and THEY WOULD do it! It is a long lengthy process so beware of that first off but they did eventually do the sleeve surgery just last month and it cost me NOTHING! I even got a private room. I must say that I was out of the hospital in a little over 24 hours though. I thought I should have stayed a little bit longer. It came out all right though. Now after two years of trying to get this surgery and wondering and believing if it would be good for me, I was able to. I THAN REALIZED THAT ONCE YOU ARE IN KAISER'S NETWORK YOU ARE IN FOR EVERY SERVICE YOU MAY NEED TO BE ABLE TO "THRIVE" AS THEY ADVERTISE IT! You can even get the plastic to remove the excess skin if needed. What settled me on the surgery personally and I knew it was God's will to allow it for me was when I was showering to see my new Dr. after asking for another one. I mean I kept going to the wrong location as Kaiser has soooo many buildings and different locations, also I was so nervous not wanting to be late for this very important appointment to see the DR. I came on time but managed to come a day late! Another time I was so worked up I landed in the ER instead of the classes I was required to take for surgery. There was just so much stuff and I was so nervous! What helped me was when thru all my confusion regarding this surgery and if it was or was not God's will for me personally was when I was showering The Lord spoke to my heart. He said to me "And again I say unto you that if thy right hand offends thee cut it off" and I knew what He meant. All my life my stomach had offended me. I just couldn't control it. I was denied promotions, love, good times you name it because of my stomach. That gave me a lot of peace and that is honestly what saw me thru and gave me the courage to pursue this avenue. Hope it helps you too. God bless you. Love, Sandy
